Explain the Username!

Archive: 391 posts

Everyone on this site has a unique username, of which have become our second identity! So I think it would be great to share with everyone why you're called what you are.

I'll start off. Mine came about when I was trying to explain to a friend what sackboy looks like (this was after watching the GDC video). "He's a small velvet, knitted, leather, monkey doll type thing". When I eventually got a ps3 and was stumped for a username, Leather-Monkeys was the only thing I could think of. I've used it for everything ever since!

Now its your turn...

pretty simple. I'm a big indiana jones (as most members would definitely know by now ) and in Indiana Jones 4 Mutt Williams (played by Shia Labeouf) ends up being Indiana Jones' son. So he is Mutt Jones.
There it is.

Wasn't there a thread a while back just like this though? Maybe a mod should merge them.

When I started as a beta tester for Final Fantasy XI Online I tried to pick a username using the automatic (Namingway) generator. I couldn't find anything I liked so I made up something inspired by the types of names found in fantasy stories.

So, Thegide it was. Most people just ended calling me "Gide" and just about everyone assumes I can't spell "The Guide" properly. There is no "The" in my nick. It's one word and means absolutely nothing! It's pronounced "theh-geed".

I had played Final Fantasy V for SNES way back when (we're talking at a time when there were translation projects going for it and NONE were at 100% yet, a north-american release was not even up for debate at this point, it wasn't going to happen). That was where I first met up with Gilgamesh, the recurring boss. I really liked his character, and LOVED his battle theme.

So yeah, from then on I just adopted the nickname (and attitude!) wherever I go. Of course, after a while more people started to take the nick for themselves (usurpers! I am the one TRUE Gilgamesh! ) so I had to come up with ways to register with a nick I could enjoy having (as opposed to something stupid like Gilgamesh23345), so I "japanized" the nickname into Jirugameshi, which I use when Gilgamesh is already taken, but means the same thing.

Can someone help me find the last one so i can post, I wrote a hell of a lot to explain how i came up with my name and i... do not really want to write the entire thing over and miss out on a few details.

Cheers!

EDIT: I found the last thread. and here is mine

a lot of people have asked me this

well i used to have 2 names: ICEHail and HailFire, and so both of them were used and i was thinking elements so i came up with the 2 i used earlier. ICEHail was just one i thought was cool and well lets talk about the other one first because that was my first name idea. HailFire is a US military name for a piece of machinery (i think it is a long range heavy gun, appropriate huh) and so i decided that that was really cool so i really liked and decided to adopt it. Then after seeing the movie Top Gun, one of the characters was called Ice Man because he was cool and relaxed, and i was astounded by how much that sounded like me so i adopted Ice after that and then put that one together with HailFire to get ICEHail now that was my absolute favorite but then i found that my account in the PS3 would no longer allow me to play online so i had to make a new one, So i took the original and ICEHail and decided to put them together again—i liked using elements as names because it sounded very powerful—so i thought how can i put these two together and i narrowed it down that ICE and Fire would have to be put together and i thought that that would not make much sense because the fire would melt it and that it would be better to say that it was rain, so now i have RAINFIRE (my reason for putting ICE and FIRE together was because they are kind of like a yin and yang effect and i love things like that)

So there you have it, it may be long but that is how my name RAINFIRE came to be, I use this for nearly everything and even though i have some variants to it (probably because they thought it was so awesome that they should use it and steal it from me >_>) and those are usually RAINFIRE SnS (the SnS was the very first clan i was in and i thought it was symbolic so i put that at the end) i also use Rainfires (out of my frustration that there were so many posers, even if they are not i will always think of them as such because it took me such a long time to think of the name)

so there you have it, how i got my name, and all of my variants'

Cheers!

i watched retarded animal babies and they were doing an alphabet like a is for apple b is for baboon etc....and randomly one said "hamsalad ....is for lunch.."

so i made a guy in world of warcraft named hamsalad as a joke orginally but ended up leveling him up and he was my main guy and everyone knew me as hamsalad.

so i've been using it ever since

I like awesome people. Voltaire was an awesome person as he was WAAAAAYYYY ahead of his time and called out everyone on their medieval bull, but unfortunately when I was registering my PSN, I didn't know how to spell. So I put in "Voltiare" and it was free for the taking so I did it. So I just kept it even though it is technically wrong.

It's not a big deal really. It's just "Volt-tea-air" instead of "Volt-air". *shrugs*

I always saw and read it as Voltiare. Sounds pretty cool, never would have guessed it was a typo on Voltaire. I thought it was intentionally written that way.

Contray to popular belief... I do NOT love Lord of the Rings.

When I was in Kindergarten, my, my brother and two other kids were writing stories that were fanfics essientally of Zelda... although they were only loosely based off them (we made our own entire world with it's own history- REALLY cool, and eventually we shed off the Zelda aspect and renamed what was Zelda-y...).

Anywho, Rock Sauron was the main character of the stories. My brother was in fourth grade, and thus didn't like LotR back then. He just saw the name Sauron and thought RockSauron sounded "cool".

Flash forward a couple years, a few months before my 13th birthday, and I needed a name to play Runescape with my friends who were playing at the time... I first used Triforce#### then forgot the numbers, so I remembered our stories and used RockSauron as my name in Runescape- and now it's EVERYTHING I am online.

Rock you showed me, i was in that contrary to popular belief section lolz. but, i did that as a kid too. Made entire things like that, but we never had character names >_> because it was only temporary. Something to do during the night whilst the grown-ups sit down, have wine and talk. But Creative way to come up with a username though.

Comatoes: Long story...

First, my name started out as "Coma" and the inspiration for this name came from a movie that I watched in my teen years called "American Beauty." There's a line in the movie where the main character says "I feel like I've been in a coma for the past twenty years. And I'm just now waking up." So, in my dark, self-hatred stage of life called puberty, I adopted the word "coma" as my username for all online relations. Basically, it presented my theory that my life is just a dream I'm having in my coma and I'm going to wake up someday...

Well, I used this name for many years and sometimes, the name would taken or I would want to create another character on the same server (WoW-talk), I would have to name it something similar like "Comatose" since, being comatose is the action you are making when you are in a coma.

Then, in my recent years, I've come to not hate my life as much so I do have a bit of humor about myself and sometimes, I would switch the e and the o in comatose and I would end up with "Comatoes;" hence, my new name is born. I use "Comatoes" for everything now because it's such a good mixture of introverted thoughtfulness and cutesy humor, you can't help but smirk when you see it.

Or I could be wrong about that last comment and the sight of my name may make people cringe but hey... whatever.

Anyway, that's my story and if I had to pick one person on LBPC that has an awesome username, I would say "Whaaaaaale" has the best. 1. It's just silly and cute. 2. It reminds me of Kung Pow where Steve Odekerk and that other guy are falling down the waterfall and a whale falls down adn they both yell "Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaallllleeee!!!"

So, yeah...

My name happened because I knew a few people who took anime too seriously. Being a fan of Cowboy Bebop, I knew it'd bother the heck out of them if I started calling myself Radical Edward. It did. I eventually got bored with the gender confused nomenclature, but Radical had already stuck.

After a friend brought up an old PS1 game called No one can stop Mr. Domino!, I decided that Mr. Radical sounded neat enough. Figured it sounded 1/2 way between superhero and pro wrestler. Besides, how cool is it to have a nick name that references anime and an obscure playstation game from 1998...

My name actually derives from a card game I used to play and I'm sure much of you have heard of it: Magic: The Gathering. While it's been 5 years since I've played the game, I loved the name and stuck with it. I've had it for probably 8 years now online.

If your interested that MTG card was called Nevinyrral's Disk. I switched up the name to something more my liking but it's still a pain to spell. Apologies!

My name comes from the gambling Shy Guy named Game Guy in Mario Party 3 (that guy always took all my coins... if his name didn't fit me very well, I wouldn't want anything to do with him... of course, by "game" don't don't mean I gamble a lot... whatever...).

The 8's simply stem from gameguy not working when I was making an AIM name. I picked a random number and kept adding it to the name until it worked. I got to three.

Back in the days before the internet was small (yes, yes, this was a long time ago, and yes, people were alive in those days) it was really, really dorky to have a number after your name. There were so few internet users you could pretty much get any name you wanted. To point out the whole lameness of the naming convention, for a paper role playing game I use to play (yes, yes, we did use to not use computers for those things) I created a hacker with, well, a really dorky name for the time.

The full name is LaserBoy23. Back 15 years ago, that was a really, really stupid user ID which pretty much painted you as a idiot with no imagination. I changed it to the letters LB23 to make it cooler and less obvious, and then made the phonetic Elbee23.

I've used it on and off as an online alias, even though the times have moved on and a user name like LaserBoy23 would be pretty normal nowadays. I guess I was just ahead of the time.

I understand there is a US pro-basketballer with the nickname LB23, but this was long before the person had a professional career.

I've used it as my DDR (Dance Dance Revolution) tag name when I was dancing professionaly. You could tell my tag by the LB23 on the machine.

I've had a million different aliases (erdEKaiser, drddestructo, copperwater, egotrip; among others.) but superezekiel is by far my favorite.

One, because I love being called EK. People have called me it since I really started hanging around the internet (2003 or so) and it's just stuck with me. But the name mostly comes from an SNES game called Zombies Ate My Neighbors. The boy character in the game was named Zeke, which is short for Ezekiel, so... Ezekiel. And I loved the Super Nintendo and how it started the great trend of slapping Super in front of every single thing a developer could think of.

So,

superezekiel!!!

And it just looks better in all lower caps

Mine is a nickname given to me by a friend based on some animated show. The bad girl was a lady named Morgana. So when I was being cranky in college my friend would refer to me as Morgana in a very funny voice. The 25 was a necessity due to frequent use of the name. I like it because it's a reference also to Morgan La Fey from King Arthur stories. Doesn't hurt to be a little otherworldly and occasionally moody. 2009-02-09 18:39:00

Haha, I aways just read it as "Vol-tee-a-ray" with a kind of italian sound to it I also thought it was an intentional play on the name xD

Alright my turn

Back in the day my best friend and I used to play hours and hours of Burnout Revenge on the PS2. Our player's name was something like "B@M b?m" with even more weird symbols It was of course an homage to the Flinstones character of the same name, given all the destruction we were planning on causing in Revenge :hero:

So when I signed up for PSN on my PS3, I tried to go for Bam Bam and other forms of it, but everything was taken (obviously ) and I sure didn't want some BamBam23 thing going on (lol) so I came up with a mix of my old nickname and pen-name Kap (which I still use to this day to sign drawings and other art) and Bam Bam. I thought it sounded awkward at first lol, but I'm used to it and like it now And people naturally shorten it to "Kap" which is the true origin of the name and is a part of my last name.

I was eating dinner one night, and suddenly it came to me. Awesome Possum. Who wouldn't want a username like that?

Anyone that had played the game wouldn't want that name.

Umm... well, it all started a long, long time ago (just under 2 years) when about 7-10,000 people would play Black Hawk Down every day. I was playing with an old username (that I have forgotten now) and had a screenshot of me taken with my gun sticking through a wall when I was standing near to it. I was permanently banned from the server. Oh, and I was banned from another server (used to be my favourite) from being top of the website leaderboard So anyway, it allowed you back on with a different name and I wanted to go back on quickly. On BHD you had weapon classes with set names like Delta force or SAS: CQB, Medic, Sniper aaand... Gunner. I usualy liked to play as Gunner because you got a 'noob tube', lol (AT4 (or rocket launcher)). At first I wanted the name 'S-A-S--G-U-N-N-E-R', but it was over the maximum character limit so I shortened it to 'S-A-S--G-U-N-R'. I have been using it for most things since then but I somtimes go by 'qwertyuiopRANDOM'.2009-02-14 23:09:00

About 4 years ago, I started playing World of Warcraft. I've played the game for about one and half years before quitting on my own accord because it consumed too much time. During this period, my main character was an undead Warlock called Serpentarius, which is the serpent zodiac. This caused a lot of confusion because there was a guild on our server called Serpensortia, and there's a boss in the game called Serpentis. Most people simply shortened it down to Serp, and I got used to being called that.

After I quit WoW, I still wanted to be called Serp, but I needed a general nickname, so after some thinking I decided on Serpit, which had a good ring to it, was unique and could be shortened to Serp as well, and I've stuck with that name ever since. Later I found out that "serpit" is Latin for "(he/she/it) sneaks", which I found pretty cool as well =P

Then after seeing the movie Top Gun, one of the characters was called Ice Man because he was cool and relaxed, and i was astounded by how much that sounded like me so i adopted Ice after that and then put that one together with HailFire to get ICEHail now that was my absolute favorite but then i found that my account in the PS3 would no longer allow me to play online so i had to make a new one, So i took the original and ICEHail and decided to put them together again?i liked using elements as names because it sounded very powerful?so i thought how can i put these two together and i narrowed it down that ICE and Fire would have to be put together and i thought that that would not make much sense because the fire would melt it and that it would be better to say that it was rain, so now i have RAINFIRE (my reason for putting ICE and FIRE together was because they are kind of like a yin and yang effect and i love things like that)

Cheers!

Rainfire, are you in the military, too?

Anyways, my name i got from a dog that watched how the firing squad shot the Philippine hero, Jose Rizal. The dog's name is Usman but i thought putting "z" in would look cool. Also, it is actually a Muslim name. But i am in no way affiliated in religions other than Christianity.

I used to use the name Scaramanga but i found out that it's a 007 character, and some people were already using it.

Solis is almost similar to Solstice referring to the Earth in relation to the Sun.
Drive is the urge or motivation for someone.
Solisdrive meaning a sense of motivation/strength from a higher entity. I.E. the sun.

I actually just thought of this now as there really was no meaning to the name when I made it. xD

Mine is a pretty big story, so prepare:

Well, as a kid, i LOVED spongebob, and i once had a game for the gamecube.
And sometimes when spongebob defeated an enemy (Yes, he doesn't kill them, he's just THAT good) he had different quotes. Once every.. 20 defeats he he said: "I am the spongeinator!" And that rocked my sox. So i became "Thesponginator".

Then, when i was playing lame internet flash games, this nickname would be too long, or way too cool for the game to handle, so it became Thesponge.

Then when i was playing MOHAAS (Medal of Honour, allied assault spearhead) there was this clan, and everybody HAD to put shadow in their name, so i became "Shadowsponge" and i've stuck with Shadowsponge for way too long.

Then, i got my PS3 and shockingly my PSN name was taken.. So i became really depressed, and came up with ThommyTheThird.. (Thomas is my first name) and numbers are lame.

Well, there you have it, the era of Thomas.

(WARNING: WALL OF TEXT)
My names story began when I was in Austria visiting some old friends (I'm 1/4 Austrian and lived there for two years when i was really small) when i was 11 and they had pretty recently bought World of Warcraft which i and my 9 year old brother thought sounded like the coolest game ever. Then the old friends father decided to show it to us and we created an orc warrior together but when it was time for us to choose a name we couldn't come up with one so the father said that i and my brother should put our names together and it became a choice between Linmark and Marklin (Markus and Linus), my brother wanted the first as it began with his name and i wanted the second one for the same reason. Finally i won the argument with the unbeatable argument "I'm older than you" and Marklin was born. When i got home and bought the game i started using it for my character and since then I've never used any other.
Then the terrible day came, i was about to create my psn account 4 years later the name Marklin was occupied and i was forced to add a number to my name, i decided to use 88 because 8 has always been my favorite number.
When i decided to register on this site i first created a profile called Marklin but then i newer got any registration email and two days later i decided to create another profile which should be called Marklin88. But then i forgot my psn and managed to type marklin80 instead .
Nowadays I'm dreaming about the day i will afford to change my name to just marklin again (the first user got deleted).

I don't think you want to use the number 88 In ANYTHING.

Reason:
(May be Inapropriate for small Children)

Neo-Nazis use it, as a code.
H is the Eighth letter of the alphabet, put two 8s together you have HH, which stands for.... erm... I really don't want to say it.

Hmm 88, Lol DRT im from the southern united states, and (even though I go out of my way to no associate myself with those sorts of people, Ive never heard of that code.. I dont think most neonazis can count to 88, much less put letters to the numbers to make umm .. you know (if you dont know what HH would stand to for a neonazi you dont need to) hmm.. I've always wondered why 420 appeals to potheads, (and I know its not because its H's birthday, thank you very much, post columbine evening news)

No offense, but people need to stop being so picky about all things that have to do with nazis. Their symbol was originally a swatika, a symbol freuently seen in Buddhism. Should buddhists stop using swastikas necause the Nazis used them as their symbol? Should people stop having mustaches because Hitler had one? >_>

Obviously not many, but it's not like I've never seen one. The above post was an exaggeration, but I just think it's ridiculous that people try to basnish everything that has to do with WW2 Germany in the slightest.

Then again, this isn't what this thread is about, so I apologize for straying off-topic.

eh its cool.. IDK I see where your coming from, because it is history after all.. but than again even germany has pretty much closed up that part of their history..

you know there were over 1500 Adolf Hitler's listed in the Newyork phonebook before 1940 and 0 after 1942

but as for the swastika I think it is way more villainized than it needs to be. It was not only a hindi and buddist symbol, but a bunch of other cultures used it before the third reicht did. and even when they used it, it was just a symbol on a flag... I think its really the neonazis that turned it into a symbol of hate.

then again the confederate flag is just a symbol, a war symbol... from one of the coolest wars ever (how many wars do brothers fight eachother?) but (im from GA) the governer of GA recently forced the flag to change.. Which I dont really care, you know if the flag offends people get a new one, but the flag that was chosen was UGLY AS SIN.. and get this, still has the confederate flag on it..

so yea I guess I can see both sides on this issue.

oh yea this is usernames... umm like I said mines profane... I had an old one when I was like 10 on AOL that was...uckFayooYay soo it was kindof profain too.. TOS ended up catching on and making me change it though, so I ended up with this... I was a weird kid

MostEvilMilo...

I'm not an "evil" person, really. XD I don't believe in causing others suffering for some sick, selfish pleasure or gain. I don't worship death or pain, nor do I wish them upon others (well, there ARE a few exceptions. But don't we all?). I'm a believer of peace, freedom, equality, love, and the right to live our lives the way we see fit (as long as we don't harm others in the process).

So why "Most Evil"?

Well, I'm a rebel. Always have been. When something is wrong, when I feel something does more harm to people than good, I rebel against it. I rebel against any establishment, institution, tradition, belief, practice, age-old or new, that stunts the evolution of our species, that destroys our freedom as human beings.

The thing is, every time you rebel against something, you end up insulting those who protect and maintain the status quo. For disagreeing with them, for refusing to bow down to them and their rules, these people will then condemn you, judge you, hate you. They will call you "evil".

Therefore, my calling myself "Most Evil" is like my way of saying "Go to Heck" to all those people who would condemn me for choosing freedom over slavery and blind obedience.

Hi all, my first post here.

I chose my nick for driving Gran Turismo online, the "tame" part indicating that I don't think racing is a contact sport (you'd be surprised at how many people think it's OK to simply ram you off the road) and the "turtle" part making fun of my pace on the track.

It still fits for playing LBP since I'm not very keen on rushing through levels, slapping fellow sackpeople or securing the highest score for myself.

lk9988:

It's not a too long story how I chose this as my username. "LK" is my initials, and I thought it had a pretty nice ring to it. I started using it as my nickname if you will (and I still do now) which a few people started calling me by sometimes. Once I got into "teh intrawebs" I was stumped on thinking on usernames for sites. Eventually I thought "Hey, I use my initials as a nickname in real life, so why not use it on websites?" so I was going to use "lk" as my username. As this was obviously not lengthy enough for a username, I decided to just use the number 9988 as a random number to lengthen up my username a bit. Now, I use this for every site I go on.

oooh ahhh.

My username came about when I was trying to think of a good Spore username. I thought... hmm... there's gonna be millions of creatures on this database and somehow people have to notice my name.
So that led me to 'hilight' (highlightnotes I think was taken or something - not a spelling mistake ). Then I just wanted something related to music, so I settled on hilightnotes.

Not the best username I suppose, but eh whatever.

My podcast name, Burgerman, is just a variation on my last name.

I've never been very good at making usernames. One of my first usernames was 'blop' which gets pretty lame after a while of using it...

Or B S Prague?

People do love to make fun of my initials though.

And @BSPrague, I read it to myself as B S SPRAGUE. Yeah I know, there's only one 'S', but hey - minds are strange things! And yes, I can imagine you being made fun of your initials. That's kinda awesome actually

Errr... I actually have 2 PSNs: NostalgicNinja (formally Stickville) and Outlaw-Jack (obviously ). I first made the name Stickville because I had a comic in school based on stick figures. It was the name of the comic (and my Criterion Games Forum ID), plus it wasn't taken. I lost it when stupid decisions (and a very dark online past... ) got the better of me. I now use NostalgicNinja for that account, but it's been since corrupted and warped so that save data from my old PSN collides with new data from my new PSN, thus rendering the account useless.

I made Outlaw-Jack on my 2nd account. This is the main account I use today, having no problems since (except some black-out time from online). I've always hated numbers at the end of any username; it doesn't feel unique. So it took me about an hour to find a name not taken. It was originally going to be Gunsmith-Jack, but it was taken. Outlaw wasn't taken, so I stuck with it. Just to clarify, Jack isn't my real name. My real name is actually Irish. Here's a hint: ? Braon?in Charles From The Thorny Town. If you're Irish, you'll get it quick.

My other usernames are Chaiotix (main), Papa.V, T.N.T.! and Shazaam!.

I was fooling around with the City of Heroes character creator and I made some really silly-looking purple dude in a cowboy hat, so I named him Captain Cowboy Hat. We all thought it was really funny, so later on I picked it as my PSN ID.

I regret it, now. It's not my username anywhere else, and it's not at all related to anything in my life except for that City of Heroes character I played for fifteen minutes once two years ago. Oh well!

My name has a huge, long, involved history behind it, but I'll see if I can shorten it a bit...

Some years ago (I was in 7th grade at the time, so... 2004-05 or so) we had a Halloween party at my church where we had to dress up as a Bible character, and then everyone else had to guess who we were. I thought I'd be smart and be someone that no one would ever guess, so I dressed up in a wizard outfit to be the Pharaoh's court wizards in Exodus (when Moses was leaded the Isrealites from Egypt). Well, no one got it after like 10 minutes of guessing, but a lot of people thought I was Gandalf for some reason. (Lord of the Rings was big then) So, Gandalf became my nickname at church. I thought it'd be funny to bring it to school, but everyone made fun of me and started calling me "gandy" instead of "gandalf". (I go to a school full of jerks) Around this time, one of my friends decided I needed an email account and whatnot, I don't know why. So, in the end, she settled on dandygandy2704 cos dandy rhymes with gandy and 2704 has a nice ring to it. And, well, it stuck and I've been using it on forums and stuff ever since.

I really did try to shorten it, honest. It's just a long story.

Great thread btw.

Well, RickRock_777 (and some variations of it) has been an online alias of mine for several years now, ever since online Texas Holdem became a hit...yes, I enjoy my poker. So Rick is my name, and my play is...you guessed it...as solid as a Rock. I added "_777" to it, as a defiant gesture to those who have "_666" in their user names...and the "_777" has also become a household standard--i.e. Lady_Luck__777, and our 7 year old daughter's user name that she has decided on will be Kid_Luck_777.

Apologies!

Link: http://www.wizards.com/magic/autocard.asp?name=Nevinyrral's%5BDisk

that card is named after Larry Niven

I wanted a name that phonetically complimented my personality.

At heart I'm a smelly, miserable creature who lives in a gloomy quagmire and eats rat dung, so when the name Ungreth emerged from the depths of my mind it just seemed right for me somehow.

So like I used to go by this lame tag on CounterStrike - it was just my initials and my bday, but I was pwning up some n00bs with like endless headshots... it was like BOOOOOM headshot! Any the n00bs were like, you are teh LUCKIEST! And I was like NO WAY, I am the n00b SLAY3R! And that name was already taken so like the next million headshots give or take, all the n00bs would scream "Lucky shot!" into their early 90's PC mics. And I was like "Ohhh yeah such Lucks its almost like its skillz!" So I moved to CS source and changed my name to luckyshot, and been pwning n00bs with it ever since.

From what I could decipher from that story, it sounds like a real nail-biter.

Seriously though, I like the name LuckyShot better than n00b SLAY3R for a few reasons:

1. I don't draw conclusions about someone with a name like LuckyShot
2. A piece of me doesn't die inside when I see the name LuckyShot
3. It's more universal, LuckyShot could just be a nickname
4. LuckyShot is more friendly-sounding to the general LittleBigPlanet user-base

weeellll >.> my name obviously comes from the animal: gopher :| was that hard to figure out?

anyways, i needed a username a LOOOOOOONG time ago (like 4 or 5 years) so i thought of some a random animal (a gopher, obviously), and used that name. but gopher360z sounds... blah. so i thought of another way to spell it. i got gofur. then, me being so much younger, i decided that a double consonant in my name would be awesome D: but goffur didnt look right. gofurr, however, looks awesome XD

oh yeah. the letters. see, i used to always play this racing game (i cant remember what it was...) and it just so happens that my favorite car in said game, was the nissan 350z. but i liked 360z better :O so i used that.

long story short: gopher + horrible misspelling + a car + 10 more than the number used for that car = kick-butt name, and you know it :|

Busstopper - I got it from a game in CartoonNetwork. (When I was little.. well like 9/10)

PawnScript - I got it from a game, PawnGame; related to PawnBot.

iFreak - iPod... Freak, cause I'm usually a Freak.

Leonardo - Sounds loyal and it's funny when I keep getting called Leonardo DiCaprio or DaVinci.

I got the nickname Stan in like grade 5. I had to fight hard to get it, people decided my real name sounded like Kirsten, and of course at that age a boy being called by a girl's name is the worst torture possible.
Once I convinced people to drop the "Kir," Stan just stuck. Then in grade 10 in History we learned about some British guy who was nicknamed Radical Jack for his crazy left wing ideals. (He was rich but thought the lower classes deserved better treatment. Obviously the other rich types weren't too fond of him.) On account of my own leftiness, and cause it's darned catchy, I adopted the name. As did several other friends of mine.

In school I used to often have a piece of brioche in my luchbox. One of my friends named it a croissant-bun-cake. When I asked another friend if he had any ideas for an original username he suggested it, and it stuck. It often came in handy in Lost Planet online, people seemed to see the name and assume I was a noob, until I tore them to pieces with a twin-heavy-shotgun wielding VS!

It seems oddly appropriate for lbp though, I can actually see it as a sackperson's name.

are you chuck norris

HAHA! no not really, sorry, but I used to know know him personally. He was an awesome guy, a bit weird though. He keeps talking about all the stuff he did in his whole life.

Ex: " This is when I was like 5 years old, I had a waffle pet, I called him Julian, he was soo funny! He thought me some fighting moves and all kind of crazy stuff! But, one day, I was starving for waffles and... I... umm... you know... when you're hungry... you... I ATE HIM!!!! I ATE MY BEST FRIEND OK!? PLEASE TRY TO UNDERSTAND ME!!!" And he jumped of the window and I never saw him again...

Not that interesting but here we go...

This was before I had a ps3, I had a psp and wanted to play online multiplayer in either Syphon Filter or Killzone liberation...cant remember. Anyway I had to make a user name so I tried DSG , because those are my initials and I couldn't be bothered to think of something better as I just wanted to get playing already. DSG was taken so I tried Dsg, dsg and Dsgee but they were taken also ...so now frustrated of typing on the psp I settled for the suggested dsgeeno1 and I've been using it for everything since....Lazy...I know

I posted a blog about this, not knowing that this thread was out there! Here's what I said:

I got the name from a double bass drum pedal that I use called the Pearl Powershifter Eliminator. I've been playing drums for over 23 years, so you can imagine how excited I was when I found that "Powershifter" was available as a PSN name However, "Eliminator" was not available at the time - and I'm glad for that.

For your drummers out there, I use the red cams (for speed)

My Username will be my PSN very soon (I just bought a name change) as I didn't think long enough before making my name.

Therefor my name will be ChristmasJew.

There are 3 aspects to why my PSN/Future Name is that.

My mother is Jewish and my father is Christian (therefor I am half Jewish considering Jews are also a race of people). So being a half jew with a Christian father, I celebrate Christmas as well. Therefor the ChristmasJew!
It's awesome. <_<
Originality.

So do you ever wonder if the light in your refrigerator stays on when you close the door. If not who turns it off. Well, here is my theory: there is a penguin in your fridge (icebox for you elder folk) that comes out and turns off the light for you. Nice of him isn't it? Well, okay where does he stay, I've never seen him? Aha! He lives in the freezer, because penguins are slick and very clever.
Thus: thefrozenpenquin
I saw a cartoon one day and was inspired. Not really but kind of.
Back when everyone was frying AOL discs in microwaves, my sister-in-law installed AOL and I had to come up with a username. Like 20 minutes before I was watching Looney toons and a short was on about literal representations. The first thing I thought of was that little cold critter suffering for my luxury.
Also I just woke up so my spelling was a bit sub par. So there is a "Q" instead of a "G". I started joking about the penguin in my freezer and my friends kept asking me to tell their friends the penguin story. It just kinda stuck.

I love cats and I love science, so I decided to use the name FelisCatus. Of course, that was taken, so I added Stray to the front since I had "Stray Cat Strut" stuck in my head at the time. Thus, StrayFelisCatus was born.

Though lately I've been using the name Delayed Reaction Man.

i use loads of different nick names online, from chancre scolex, to sideaffeks, to white_lotus, to twisted_ligneous, to wisp, to sideyfeks, etc.

i picked out voodeedoo cause at the time i was a foamy fan, and one of the episodes was called 'voodeedoo'.

i wouldve just used that but it was taken, so i had to add in the cheesy little wannabe-hip "x" marks on each side.

the episode pg-13, but you can watch the clip here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bO2j5GS-fqQ

foamy doesnt appear in that episode, just the background characters.

I can explain about my two different PSN, arcticpolar and moonwire:

Arcticpolar: This was made by my little brother, who wanted a unique name, and not some silly one with lots of numbers in it. I will not give any examples for this one. We live in Norway, and it's cold here, so that's it, I guess.

Moonwire: I was playing with thoughts about different names, and came up with this. Originally it was going to be moonchain, but it was already taken,

I always use this name (unless it's bluefire or mloenkaugm).
I kinda like the word accuracy for no reason, and just put an r in front of it and replaced the first a with an e. It sounded pretty cool, and I haven't let loose of this name ever since.
About bluefire, it's just because blue fire is cool
mloenkaugm, my nephew once had some chewing gum which tasted and looked like melons. I couldn't resist getting an username of it

Ever since playing Lunar, I have been using the name Dyne for almost everything. To me it just sounds like such the perfect name for a Warrior (though some people on other forums think I'm female because of the name.. >__>) . It's not horribly common, but it's sometimes already used, so I add in Crono. I don't think it was on this forum, so I don't know why I went ahead with CronoDyne, but meh =P I'm a big time aficionado, being into most stories and characters related to the theme of time, so I chose Crono without an H (from growing up with Chrono Trigger in my library of RPGs). So I become the Warrior of Time, Dyne!!.. or something =P For the 360 and PS3, I decided to switch things up a bit and use Omega, since I'm also a fan of mythology and it was one of the first words I thought up.

And that's my name in a nutshell.

A few years ago when I was signing up for a site, I had just seen an episode of Doctor Who featuring an alien called the Plasmavore. A creature that drank blood. I was trying to sign up quickly before another programme came on. I couldn't think of a username, so I jsut typed in plasmavore, since it was the first thing that popped into my head. Now it use it for everything. If you ever see someone called plasmavore on another website chances are, it's me. So just send them a message! You never know, I might reply!2010-01-02 14:11:00

Ya know there's not much of a story behind mine. Apart from ages ago when i tried to think of a username for somthing i sat there thinking and made up a random word which at the time was just Doop, the name was taken so i thought add some numbers on the end so i thought 479, which got me to Doop479, i used that for everything until i got my PS3 at the time i very much liked the letter "Z" (Still do) so i added z on the end of Doop and Doopz479 was born!!!2010-01-03 13:31:00

I was making a Disney website account thing. I just thought of the first "cool" word that popped into my head so I came up with crazy, but I wanted it to look "cooler" so I changed the first letter to a K. Then, since it was a Disney account, I thought of my favorite Disney character, Stitch from Lilo & Stitch, so I added it and the name "krazystitch" was born.2010-01-05 03:29:00

For those of you who don't know all, or most, vehicle engines have a unique name. My favourite car is the Nissan 180SX and it's engine is called an SR20DET then I basically just put dog on the end as a joke, you don't see it much anymore but I remember a time when 'dog' was put after everything and anything. It's also functional though as the name SR20DET seems to be taken already on most things so it fixes that problem.

Don't ask, just don't.

...

Alright, so a REALLY long time ago, I was introduced to an online game called Toontown. At the time, they had a list of names you could select for your character. I just hit random, and got Master Tubby Frinkelbumper. I got bored of that pretty fast, and I found another quickly. I couldn't think of another name to put, so I put the same one as before. Master Tubby Frinkelbumper was too long of a name, so I shortened it to Frinkelbumper. But, having some slight OCD, I changed the spelling because it bugged me out of my mind. Henceforth, Frinklebumper was born! I used this name for everthing else, as well, to make myself popular.
