As one LBP beta comes to an end another one is about to start. You can now register for the LBP Karting Beta! http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2012/06/27/littlebigplanet-karting-beta-arrives/

LittleBigPlanet‏@LittleBigPlanet

The details on how to register for the LBP Karting Beta in North America will follow soon!

UPDATE:
Due to some of the useful info being hard to find, a clean up seems to be in order. I'm going to try and get it more organized.

JULY 19

If you're an EU PS+ member, you've got less than 24hrs to grab the #LBPKarting beta for yourself. So get to it! http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2012/07/19/littlebigplanet-karting-beta-registration-re-opens-for-24-hours/

Tweeted:July 17- Michael Buffaloe‏@michaelbuffaloe

Second wave of NA invites are out! EU folks: we know you want codes and we are working to get them to you. Please continue to bear with us!

Tweeted by: July 12 Michael Buffaloe‏@michaelbuffaloe
Double check the code and ensure you're redeeming it on an NA PSN. Attempting to redeem an NA code on the EU store will not work

How do I prove that I'm in the beta so I can access the private forums?

Go make a post in the official Sony forums, and then send a link to that post in a PM to warlord_evil and he'll grant you access.

(Note: Of course you should not just make some random post there as that would spam their forums. Instead find a thread and make some sort of meaningful reply.)

Well in past there was two ModNation Racer betas for each region US and EU in diffrent time (I been in both btw ;p), but back then ModNation Racer servers been region locked so seperate betas make sence.... hopefully they won't repeat that ;p2012-06-27 16:01:00

But you will get EU code this way which won't work in US... or else you will make 2nd EU account and download beta this way. They might filter region in selection process so you better sign up on US anyway later on

I really hope I get in, didn't have luck with the LBPV beta. LOL imagine how fast the registration will close though, considering there are millions of PS3s unlike the Vita...

Ugh, I've spent TONS of hours in both LBP and Modnation Racers so lets hope that helps. Didn't the developer say it's going to be an open beta? So I'm guessing that means later on when some bugs get sorted out... (kind of like Starhawk)

You'll get in regardless, even if you don't get a code in any batches. Like in LBPV (beta).

Only for european users Either way, I hope they are doing a better job than with the LBP Vita beta codes (which was bad)

Not at all.

There is no chance it'll be out by the weekend... it will take time to process the "interest"

Still, the sign up questions were quite weird in one respect XD

What LBP games have you played?

LBP1
LBP2
LBP PSP
Modnation racers

I see why it is there but... last time I checked Modnation wasn't an LBP title

Still, nonetheless excited anyway

IMO, it is not worth to cry if you dont get chosen. Because, this LBP game is different from the others. And i dont like racing very much. If i get picked. Cool. If not, oh well. I wont get this anyway.

But if i wouldnt get picked in LBPV beta (but i already had). I would totally cry.

But kart/racing games are so fun!! Well, if you don't enjoy the gameplay then maybe you'll like making things in create mode.

think you got that backwards. if i don't end up enjoying the gameplay then for sure I won't want to create on it. I'm pretty much a sideway platforming fan. i don't have much interest in full 3D movement gameplay too.... not that i hate full 3D GP... I'm just a far more big fan of side-scrolling. But it may be possible i will enjoy the game... i just have to play it and find out first. *mew

Yes I have sent an application as well.

Is seventeen-years old a valid age for me to participate in the Beta? I was inducted into the Little Big Planet 2 Beta, so I assume it is so.

Short answer, no... you shouldn't

For most countries you need to be 18 to legally agree to the NDA (non disclosure agreement), if you are discovered to be beneath that age you may be removed from the beta and blocked from future betas until your account reaches maturity.

The terms of the lbp2 beta stated this in the small print of the email containing the unlock code, and by downloading the beta you agreed to that condition (as well as quite a few others).

Personally I've never considered age to represent maturity... but I don't make the rules =/

I think it would be kind of neat(for finishing touches) if they replaced the Dualshock controller with the Move steering wheel in the Pod. Kind of like with LBP Vita and it's controller.

Then again most people will probably play with standard controllers, so it wouldn't make that much sense.

I would walk ONTO the river, and to the Atlantic Ocean, then from there to New York then hitch a ride with a very mysterious guy with a disturbing past to California, where I would walk bare-footed up to Canada.

So yeah, thats what I meant..

Well when did you get your PS3? & I'm guessing when you got it you weren't 18, hence why you faked the B-Day.

I got my PS3 in 2007 & I wasn't 18 yet, but I remember the B-day I put because I made it so I was 18 on the account, I used the same month and date, just changed the year. So maybe you did the same?

& I really don't think you can look at the B-day you put on your account....

I did the exact same thing a month or so ago, during exam week, and after a few weeks of going psycho trying to figure out my password, I just ended up emailing Sony Customer Support and explaining the situation to them. I guess I could have called their support hotline or whatever, but they could have been like "Hey, that guy isn't really 18! He sounds younger! Smite the 15 year old with our PS3 controllers of death!!!". Awkward, right? Long story short, I emailed them and some nice lady helped me get it back

EDIT: Oh, and they can't give you your account birthday : I asked, and they said "Unfortunately, we will not be able to provide you with specific details about your Sony Entertainment Network (SEN) account, due to security policies set in place".

I'm not sure that they would take your account's ban history into account when determining access to a BETA.
As said by numerous developers, it's all done completely by a robot. So unless that Robot is taking names, I'm sure you'll have an equal chance at a code as anyone else would.

All I know is is for the LBP2 beta one of the factors for being picked was how much DLC you own. Not sure if that's the case this time, since it's more oriented on player activity from each game. Glad I made a level in each of the games, except LBPSP.2012-07-02 19:55:00

One of the factors was DLC? I didnt know that, where did you hear that?

You could always re-read the OP post.
But just to fill you in...
The LBP Karting Beta will be coming soon and you can sign up now for a chance to participate. They're nearly done with sign ups though, so you should sign up while you still can! :hero:

In LBP2 beta picking it was. Not sure if it applies here.

Of course, that was when there was no sign-up and they were picking people precisely. I could be wrong...-ish.

Of course, that was when there was no sign-up and they were picking people precisely. I could be wrong...-ish.

but Spaff told us the conditions for lbp2's beta:

you got an invite if you had been involved with the online create or water betas
you got an invite if you had logged a large amount of time playing lbp (as they record that stuff)
and towards the end you had an increased chance to join if you were ps+

Having DLC was never a criteria... they wouldn't discriminate between testers based on income.

I'd link you to the statement (... well post) but it was lost when that beta forum closed.

Anyway it's irrelevant as it's a totally different developer who will have their own system for choosing testers.

It doesn't have to be about income. It could be about testing backwards compatibility.

For the record, I have no inside information or anything. Just saying.

Same here, that's really just from raw memory. Not anything legit. I'm just saying that was one of the things that was mentioned from somebody (I don't know who) about the LBP2 beta. I'm not trying to stir up any conspiracy or anything.

All I want to know is the time of the beta codes release, really hoping I get in this thing.

And you really think they're just sitting in there and choosing the most active players from thousands of people? Gais, it's sure that they use a computer to choose everyone randomly.

Then why would they have you fill out the poll:

Have you played Modnation Racers?
Have you played Modnation Racers: Road Trip?
Have you played LittleBigPlanet?
Have you played LittleBigPlanet 2?

If its that random, they wouldn't have had this poll. This poll has to have something to do with the selection.

Lol to the person saying they don't discriminate based on income. They do not CARE. They are going to find players who know the game best and play it the most. People who have lots of LittleBigPlanet games, have many hours logged in, actively participating ingame, and have records of purchased DLC showing increased interest in the game.

THATS what they look for. Simple as that. If I were a developer, i would want to make sure my testers knew what they wanted in the game rather than having some slackjawed kid who played like 2 levels in the first game and published a bomb survival level that was made copy free.

And they do base it off of hours logged in, but I agree, it's just a computer program that chooses from the players that fullfill the most recommended requirements for whatever they feel will help give them the most accurate results.

Both me and my little brother Dan930930 signed up for the LBPV beta at the exact same time. We both have the same amount of games AND dlc on our accounts. I got in.. he did not. Why? I have much more active play time in the game whereas he has been playing League of Legends more lately. So activity is most likely a factor.

it will most likely be like previous betas, there will be a small group of testers (SCEE's closed beta test group) for a short period of time to make sure there are no critical bugs and servers are behaving as they should, then the people who get in via the sign-up form will be invited after.
for lbpv it was a around a week later

There are more factors than simple activity. However, what does pins have to do with it? Pins aren't the only way to show you have been playing LBP frequently. There's a recent activity section for all of that.

They also control how much level you published or another thing about levels, but isn't that counting as activity too? Because in the poll, they had a question where they asked if you had shared a level.2012-07-05 16:03:00

It is just a computer that's going to pick all of the players accordingly. Really only the robot itself knows how to pick all of us.

Awesome, so we'll get to mess around with the full-blown create mode that you guys used. To be honest I wasn't sure at first if I liked the idea of UFG making LBPK. But after reading about the GameJam these guys seem like they REALLY care about this game and making it LBP authentic.

I wonder what the real Media Molecule is doing at this time...

Probably working on a new game, I'd imagine. I hope Sackboy makes a guest appearance somewhere in it! (Although Mm must be somewhat burned out on LBP by now )

Question, if someone had changed their email that they use for their PSN account to something different, but had used their old email accounts name to sign up for this, and then got picked to be in the beta, would the email be sent to them correctly?

No big issue, just something I was wondering about.

I would not get your hopes up that the LBPK Beta comes out 1-2 days after the BETA is closed. For LBPV, it took about 2-3 weeks, with EU getting their codes first and then NA. You just have to be patient

if you get in via the sign up form it's highly unlikely you will be part of the first phase of testing, there is a small group that will get the beta at least a week b4 people are invited from the sign up form. this is how all other lbp games have worked. the small group is SCEE's closed beta test group and there is currently no way to join said group.
if you havnt already been told you will get it, you wont have it for at least another week or 2

Tho it ends on the 31st and they well be sending more invites over the coming weeks. Say wasnt this the same problem with lbp2? where they would send out invites on the last week and had to change the end date to a later date?

Why is a game this huge doing closed betas? I never fully understood that. If they did open beta, wouldn't that be a better test of whether or not the servers can hold up the weight of it all?

Or is it a sales thing where giving too many betas out will reduce total sales of the official relase?

Yeah, and they may yet conduct an open stress test as well. The possibility was previously mentioned. It's best to ease into these things, they don't need to melt the servers with a bunch of eight player online mayhem on the first day.

There doing a closed beta because most people wouldn't even try to test for bugs, they would just make levels. plus Latin_player_10 will come on and ruin the next lbp.

I wouldn't know, but William Ho did talk about having an open beta. Maybe he only suggested it for hype's sake. Maybe there are new server features like matchmaking that need to be tested under load. Either way, it's been suggested and should provide some comfort to everybody that can't participate in the closed test!2012-07-06 23:47:00

why do i bother posting at all? as i have stated several times in this thread already, SCEE's closed beta test group handle the 1st phase of testing for most sony exclusive games.
With lbp games WE (I am part of said group) have gotten the beta at least a week b4 other testers have been invited, since I have known about the start date of the 10th for some time now i doubt this will be any different.
The reason for this (as stated previously) is to make sure there are no critical bugs in the beta and to make sure the server is up and running properly b4 adding a larger group of testers.
with a smaller group it is much easier to keep info from leaking, and the last thing devs want leaking is info of critical bugs and/or server issues as it can shake consumer confidence in the final product.
while there is a chance this beta could be different, I wouldn't get your hopes up of getting it on the 10th via the sign up form.

Well but only LBP Move Pack (which i think it was not opened to wider audience at all, no sign ups, only your group and europe members of few sites staffs... at least it looked like that) and LBP Vita was like that from LBP betas. MNR beta as i remeber was non-NDA, i remeber people publicly complied about huge loading times which does not shorten much in release version, but that was before existence of your group i think. It all depends on Sony and how confident developer feels, also note they would not place date of the beta if they didn't want people have hopes up ;]... now it's too late

LOL TinyMoMo I seriously wish you were right, but unfortunetly that may not be the case. The release date is rumoured to be up around October to November. This beta will most likely only run a course of a month or so. LittleBigPlanetVita's beta ended recently but they still haven't even announced an official release date. Don't get your hopes up for LittleBigKarting to come out within the next month. As awesome as that sounds, it's highly unlikely.

But hey, ya never know. Maybe they'll have a really long beta this time around just like LBP2's beta. I didn't participate much in that beta, but from what I heard there were a looooot of levels to play in it since it was around for so long.

It all depends on Sony and how confident developer feels, also note they would not place date of the beta if they didn't want people have hopes up ;]... now it's too late
we had MNR (under NDA) b4 everyone else too, i've been part of the group since lbp1

October and November is the best window to release the game before xmas, December = less time to buy it as a present for xmas. Thats why most games release in those months (only exception was MW2 which everybody for some reason scared off and delay games to next year).2012-07-07 18:01:00

Since were on this discussion about beta , I been apart of the closed beta since lbp1 so with that being said should people who have been in closed betas be at a higher change at getting a code? I am just wondering.2012-07-07 18:40:00

Really hope I get into this one. Looks very interesting. The new Mario Kart, perhaps.

Although, I have had LBP1, LBP2 and LPBV betas, so I guess I can't complain if I don't get in.

To be honest, I really dont think its fair that we only have 3 weeks to try and fully understand the new game. In that time, I figured out only a quarter of LBP2's logic. Would I really be able to figure out LBPKarting within 3 weeks? No! And most of us won't either.2012-07-08 03:25:00

Well then you know something about LBP2 logic right? then you should have a head start in LBPK since lot of things are the same.

US or EU one?

EU, for some reason australia falls under SCEE
apart from lbp betas we often have betas long b4 most people know the beta has started, with some betas even having a different title to avoid people in your friend list from finding out

We have been absolutely overwhelmed by the number of applications we got for the LittleBigPlanet? Karting Beta! Unfortunately, because we already have so many applications we have had to take the registration site offline.

It's been truly amazing to get such a positive response from you all and we would like to thank you very much for your interest.

Thanks,
PSN Beta Team

Oh well.

Nothing. Believe me, MANY people, including me, have done that out of confusion, and it doesn't hinder any chances of you getting in (I think).

Well then considering US beta was first and and it's developer from US there chance that it will all start in 10. And again if they wanted to keep it close they would not annouce the date

There only one beta fro both;p If they not filtring region (which didnt happened in MNR, but that was diffrent story since there was 2 betas) they will send you code that will work onl;y to specific region. But don't panic, you can make EU account and if you get EU code you can redeem that using EU account and then use US account to play

Being in other LBP related Betas will not influence your acceptance into this Beta considering it is a machine picking the names and we did not supply that information in the sign up form.2012-07-08 15:43:00

Actully during betas of lbp1 dlc they been inviting same people + adding few more people to this beta club, they even got to lbp2 beta that way. They dont do that anymore since move pack beta.

i also belive of you been invited in ealier betas you have higher chances to get in since you olready met criterias in last beta. I dont belive is complete random machibes since most active community members always get in

Where have you heard this rumor? I only heard this rumor on this forum. Tho I have been in all lbp betas there is I still think i have no change in hell at getting in this. I heard they will do it by a robot (picking people to be in beta)

Guys, I'm almost positive this question has been answered in the LBPVita beta by Syroc himself, if you were signed up for previous betas, it has no effect on future betas! You have an equal chance of getting in. Having lots of the LBP games will help your chances.

But if anyone can post a link that states otherwise, please let me know because this question comes up over and over and over again.

It may increase chances, but nothing is guaranteed of course.

I think you all should wait until the invites are sent out before worrying about the criteria and if you'll get in. I did that with the LBP Vita beta and in the end I never got in. I honestly think a lot of the invites are random.

We will see. SCEE made cool beta site in which you can get the your code without worring about reciving email, SCEA, bah any develop should learn from them on that

So we can expect a certain group of people to get in when the beta first comes out, right?

Also, I'm still confused about the deadline, they said that it would end on the 31st, or continue through the 21st. Which one?

It's risky, depends if they care about that, but it's also unfair to other people. Also accounts with 0 stats (since you can only do that once per account) defently got lower chancies getting (considering it's not complitly random)

What did the beta sign up sheet ask you? They'll use that and randomly choose based on how many things you were able to check off. In special cases they'll invite you if they know you'll be a valuable asset (A big time creator)

Heres an idea, why not wait and be patient, they'll arrive when they arrive, and someone will post here as soon as they do.

Every beta thread is a repeat of what you need to do to get in (played 1000+hours, published 20 levels, have over a 1000 hearts, bought all DLC), when are the codes arriving, anyone recieve a code yet, I didnt get in its not fair (I played 1000+ hours, published 20 levels, have over a 1000 hearts, bought all DLC) etc etc. Honestly, do we need to go through this stuff every time?

all i'm gonna add is- dont say i didn't warn you when I said only a small group will get it today, and most likely none via the sign up form. they said codes will be sent in waves, the first wave is always small.2012-07-10 14:52:00

as i'm sure this will get out soon enough, some of us have received codes. dont expect any info though as we are bound by an NDA.
as stated previously i didnt get in via the sign up form, and codes will be sent in waves, so there is no need to worry that you havnt gotten in yet

Hope i get into the beta after a night of dreams of lbp and wonderful imaginations and one freaky dream that i was in lbpk and i tried to get to the track but i went 1 mile per hour and i couldn't go any faster and then when i got past the start line like 5 mins later i boomed right to 100 miles and the controls were really sucky and everything got in the way and there was bomb spam and stuff. oh well... xD to obsessive with lbp much?2012-07-10 16:10:00

I lol'd at this. xD

Right now it's only 11:00 in America (Eastern Time), so I would expect them to at least wait until people have had lunch (Can't squash bugs on an empty stomach ).
