Community Game Jam 2011: Move Edition!

Archive: 322 posts

<img src="http://www.mediamolecule.com/images/uploads/game_jam_blog.jpg" alt="Oooooh!" width="648" height="400" />

Last year, 15 or so intrepid community creators descended on Mm Towers to join in with an experimental 37.5 hour <a href="http://www.littlebigplanet.com/en/news/article/littlebigplanet_community_game_jam/ " title="LittleBigPlanet 2 Game Jam">LittleBigPlanet 2 Game Jam</a>. With the best part of a year before the game was to be released, we were keen to see if our new tools could be used to build anything, and suffice to say we were definitely impressed!

Fast forward 12 months, and we’re at it again! This morning 15 creators will once again be joining us in the studio to stay up all night building games, this time with the new Move tools that we are working on! We are once again really rather keen to see what kind of things can be built with these exciting tools, which more than ever before could lead to you lot inventing new never seen before game mechanics!

Whilst we can’t invite you all to join us in the studio without the use of some kind of shrinking technology, you can join us live via twitter from <a href="http://twitter.com/#!/littlebigplanet">@littlebigplanet</a>.

We’ll be updating with pictures and shenanigans all night long, with the hashtag <a href="http://search.twitter.com/search?q=%23lbp2move">#lbp2move</a>.

<strong>Stay tuned! </strong>

Ahh so that's why Morgana was coming to England!
I'm really excited to find out some new information about the Move pack and see pictures from the Jam!

Also, those picture in the circles behind Sackboy in the main banner are most likely the new Move switches.

I'm interesed how they solve Move controls

What do you mean solve? It's gonna be like Prehistoric moves but maybe with some 'waggly' functions as well.
I'm expecting a LOT of duck hunt variants when this is out. It may be 'reel watorz' all over again. Really hoping it isn't.

I for one am happy to see all the new faces. I mean, sure we see the likes of rtm223, jackofcourse, steve_big_guns, and wexfordian (is Grant there too?), but those guys already do work on LittleBigPlanet stuff, so I'd imagine they are just helping out.

It's nice to see the people who do a lot for the LittleBigPlanet community getting some kickbacks. For me, it's cool to finally put faces to some of the names. I'm sure the folks at Mm can appreciate those same things. For what it's worth, I wouldn't think too hard on any of the race issues mentioned above, heh. How are they supposed to know creators' ethnicities by looking at their PSN handles!?

Morgana, I still can't believe you spent all that money to make the trip! I hope your vacation is worth it!

I'm sort of looking forward to seeing what can be done with the move tools. I have no interest in move outside of LBP, seeing what the community members were able to do with it at the jam will play a large role in my decision to ever pick one up.2011-05-06 14:41:00

Btw: Does GLaDORAM have any levels? I've never seen any.

He's entered most of the contraption contests, made a TARDIS (With a little help) and is very good at logic. But most importantly is his help with the creator spotlight. He creates most (Or all, not sure) of the sets and I believe he's edited a few.
Making good levels is not the only way to be a huge part of the community. I am really glad he got to go!

I am happy to see him there too. yay Dayne!

However, to be fair to the rest of the Creator Spotlight team, he has done some set work, done two of the interviews and does most of the editing for the PSP spotlights. To be a bit more exact on setwork, he made most of the Syroc sets, except for the caves and house, the car in DFL's video, and all of Dimo's setwork. He also made the special PSP Christmas video sets. He has been quite handy.

Hi all - 4am Guilford time and I haven't slept in just under 48 hours so I have to keep this brief.

Amazing group of creators were at the Jam. Incredible talent, creativity and a real positive feeling of community and sharing. I'll post more about the experience when I can but keep in mind I can't talk about specifics of the contents of what MM has planned. Still bumming around England and charging computer and finding wifi is proving to be tricky. More later.

I just hope the Move Kit is not the only Level pack they have planed for this year.
because honestly I'm sure move is fine and all (I still have no plans on buying it)
but pretty much the only things I'll be interested in is whatever Decorations ETC the kit'll have.
unless it's coming in a creator pack 2 or something. but seems like i remember it's gonna be a buy to own kit.
So I'll have to get a friend on PSN to play the levels with me after i buy the kit when it's out just so
i can collect it's contents

But surely this won't be the big pack of the year anyways as that always comes out at
the end of the year.

Also not looking forward to any levels people'll make after the kit is out that use PS move as a main gameplay.
as I'll again have to get a PSN friend to play with me or I'll just have to avoid the levels all together.

To be honest i hope it comes out soon as possible just so they'll start working on other hopefully
more interesting things that don't need us to go out and buy Equipment just so we can use it.

Hey I'm not saying people won't make interesting things with move, I'm sure they will, but even still...
i just can't look forward to it all that much my self or see much point in it, least till something shows me
it's more useful then i think it will be.at this point it only seems like it'll be a small gimmick
only a small hand full of people will use. *mew

Move in LBP is pointless

why would you post that here then? This specific thread is to discuss about our friends who go the chance to join Media??molecule to try the new creating tools with the ps move. Not to post why you think move isnt worth it and that you crave for more. Sorry just my 2 cent.

Why do anyone post anything? because we are just talking about what we think.
did i say it should not come out? No. Did i say it is pointless? Nope.
Hey i even said people will surely make nice stuff with it.
all i'm saying is I don't like how you have to buy move. and it costs as much as a whole new game.
just to play and use the kit. i even said i look forward to seeing what contents like what Deco
or costumes may come with it.

Really you just took what i said the wrong way.
no one is gonna like every little single DLC they make.
(I feel just whatever about it, it's fine, just not all that interesting to me)
I mean really? is it wrong that i want it out already just because I want to look forward to
other stuff they may make? its just my opinion dude~ i would never say other people are wrong for wanting it
but seems to me unless you really just read what i said in the wrong way, then if not, then all your doing is
looking for a argument. and I'm not gonna give you one as nothing i said was rude to anyone,
and I'm not upset over move stuff also.
*mew

PS: you changing what i said in the Quote is pretty rude
as i did not say that or mean that whatsoever, and it was pretty clear i did not.
and pretty much from my guess you just wanted to take what i said as
that so you could try to start a argument.

I think it's cool that MM does this type of thing. I don't know of any other studio that does this. I love the pics I've seen so far, as it's nice to put a face to a name. Maybe someone on here can edit the "main" picture and label everyone in the pic. That'd be cool. You know... I never really saw the point in why MM don't want us talking about info of things before they release it.
I'm a LBP beta member and I been in 2 LBP betas and hear some
other stuff from friends over time that at the time was stuff we can't talk about.
but i never saw why that was? most of the info always gets out without are help anyways,
and only point i see in it is they want people to be only excited for its release so they can make
more money that way i guess. but I'm not sure really.

I really liked all the pictures taken during the jam, its cool to see all those faces (even if they are the same people),
its cool to finally put a face to morgana and since I am lbp-friends with Asbestos and Kingo its cool to see what they look like when they arent wearing their cloth bodies

It's not just MM the whole industry does it, often its on previews to make sure the press do a propper write up instead of rushing out a preview to get the boost of being first.

In this case I think they'll be taking the community jam stuff putting together one or more trailers, giving the levels some playtesting to make sure they're stable and then sending it out to E3 with Alex for the big reveal.

Asbestos101
Fluxlasers
Chimpanzee
Falcon636
Morgana25
Slaeden-bob
RaphaeI

And you can add me to that list too. Morgana has been involved with other events, and Chimp and I visited Eurogamer last year, but I think this was the first LBP related event for everyone else on that list.

Are there any details you guys can talk about regarding the expansion to maybe lighten the mood here a little? Are we getting new tools...bug fixes to the old game...will it work online?2011-05-07 18:52:00

Yay for the fun times!

That is what I like to hear. It is great that you guys got to go and test out the Move features and I am happy with the group that went. You are all awesome and inspire many of us to work hard and hopefully create something awesome that everyone can sit down and enjoy. I can't wait to see what you guys came up with this time around!

But most important, are there any spiders in any of the levels created? If there are, I will assume it was a shout out to me and I thank you all for having me there in spirit

Unfortunately we can't say much until the NDA is lifted, which I expect will be around E3 time. But I think it's safe to say that yes, there were new tools (that's what we were testing afterall!) and there were some bug fixes I noticed. But, can't go into detail.

The move pack is going to be brilliant. It introduces lots of new tools and features for creators, and in terms of the levels... The levels are really amazing. To be honest, I wasn't much of a "motion gaming" fan before, but these levels created by Media Molecule really show the move off in a whole new light. They have created some super fun levels and a LOAD of them to boot!

It's not finished 100% yet but its already in a really great place right now. Everyone is under NDA right now so details will have to wait but this is definitely LBP's most significant DLC pack to date.... Stay tuned.

That sounds pretty awesome. To be honest I haven't tried the Move in any game, and so I can't say I've 'bought into' the whole idea. But it does sound pretty exciting! I suppose I better start saving up for a move controller and PSEye

I'm also guessing you can use the Move as a mouse-y kinda substitute in create mode.. I'm curious if that will speed things up or if that's less comfortable.
Can't wait until the NDA's lifted!

Looks like I'm a little late for this party...
No change there really... I'm absent from the photo taken during the initial presentation since other work commitments forced me to arrive fashionablly late...

However for the time being, I'll just have to reiterate what has already been said by other Move GameJam attendees.
Unfortunately everyone is currently under a Non-Disclosure Agreement, so we can't speak specifically about the new features just yet.

Obviously when we can though, you can be sure that we'll tell you absolutely everything that you want to know.
In the meantime, I'll try not to lose my big stack of Move-based notes before the NDA is lifted.

Although I will say that this is definitely LittleBigPlanet's biggest DLC expansion to date and it will certainly open up a whole new world of motion-gaming possibilities in LittleBigPlanet.

I know I might be going a little off topic here but I'd like to talk about the move game jam.

My personal favourite level created by the community was slaeden-bobs level based on screwing screws out of wood called "Screw for your life"... a title so awesome that only Steve Big Guns' "Master 8" could beat it

Obviously you won't hear any answers from me or any other of the game jam invitees but to find out what everyone else thinks.

I loved how fluxlasers made a game that looked like a fully fledged iPhone game or something! How NuclearFish made a beautiful and simple game in under 36 hours, and OKINGO's was a very simple concept, yet still quite complex behind the scenes, and REALLY addicting!

Seriously, guys, the move is set to make LBP MUCH more fun and immersive for parties and get-togethers EVERYWHERE!

Speaking of "everywhere"... I would actually love to see them playing LBP2 at 10 downing street.

Yes, times a million! You'll want to buy the move, the dlc pack, then some more move controllers AND some friends*.

*Depending on how many they have in stock at your nearest game store.

Id like to say thanks to mm for giving me the opportunity to meet all the amazing creators. Everyone there was extremely friendly & we had a lot of fun together.

The levels created were so well made, each displaying different uses for the new tools. The pack itself is the best use of the move ive seen. If what I see from the levels created at the event is anything to go by, the most innovate & fun ps3 move games will be made by the community on lbp2. With our feedback & testing, the final product will be even better than it all ready is.

I reiterate this. I asked the same thing about 5 pages back. Sounds like everyone had fun and like I said previously, I'm genuinely happy that you guys got the opportunity to do this. I've been debating the purchase of the Move myself. Cost vs. fun factor, playability etc. I have the Kinect for my 360 and quite honestly have only played the darn thing twice. It sounds like it would be a great addition to LBP. For those who attended and actually got hands on with it, how easy would it be for a novice creator such as myself, to pick it up and create with?

Oh! here's that pic, if one of you guys could label it, that would be great. I only know (because of deductive reasoning) who a couple of the people are and would like to put a face to the name, so to speak. Thanks.

I am amazed at the level of loyalty from those who attended the "Community Jam". When I read that some people had to sell there car for air fair to attend an event for a Video Game with nothing but bragging rights to show for it, I nearly choked on my dinner. I do have to admit, I am a bit jealous and not because I will NEVER be an elite creator in the LBP franchise, but because I will never be so into something as trivial as a video game that I would pay thousands of dollars and fly half way across the world to attend a function relating to said video game. I'm not trying to minimize your achievements, it's just the way I view this topic. I just hope it pays off for those who sacrifice so much of their time and money, like something other than a rush of endorphins.2011-05-08 00:32:00

I hope they're making levels that actually work with the MOVE controllers this time, unlike the "Prehistoric Sackboy" demo levels. They didn't even allow you to use the MOVE navigation controller at all and the control mechanics were awful!

You had to use a normal controller instead of the navigation controller, because that didn't work, alongside the main Move controller which made it impossible to play the levels alone. If they don't make the new levels support the navigation controller too then they'll be multiplayer only which is no good at all for single players.

Of course it would be even better if they actually fixed some of the major bugs in the game before introducing more new stuff. It would be nice to have the present stuff working properly first!!

Good to hear about potential fixes.

Your post (above) may be the first positive sign of bug progress people have seen.

We have to actively search through another site just to see if MM knows about a certain problem.
To my knowledge MM haven't even posted a link to said site. (here's the link (http://getsatisfaction.com/littlebigplanet))

Just like in my level reviews/critiques/bug lists(!) I tend to focus on the negative, because fixing those little things takes the level to the maximum potential.

It's the same with LBP in general. If we didn't push an issue, MM wouldn't think it was a big enough deal and it would become a low priority.
Sadly sometimes in life you have to complain do get stuff done, as going through the normal channels doesn't work.
We wouldn't be here on the forums if we didn't like the game.

Dunno if anyone can answer this but what is it you do with Move? Because from what I seen it's just a fancy way of making things going up and down or rotate, or is there actually more to it?
Yeah, that's my take on it as well.
Until the NDA is lifted, I shall dismiss all the "best dlc ever" as hype so I won't be disappointed.
It's my understanding (from what I have read of this thread so far) that this is the best dlc ever, not because of move, but because of the other contents of said pack. I would wager these new tools could have been added/created without the move.
The only thing I could think of that would require the move is some sort of drawing/painting application?
But I'm just spit balling here, and probably wasting my time guessing, better to just wait for NDA to be lifted.
I shall assume E3, which is like, a month away.. I really wish games didn't have to rely on hype/teasing all the time..
it's really annoying.

I am really looking forward to this pack,I was thinking that it may not be much more than a novelty. But after hearing the good feedback about it, it has my creative mind going

I think this was a great event, and all the flack that has been given to those that went is just ridiculous. Not only are many of the people that went some of my personal favorite creators, but they deserved to be there. Because it can't be disputed that they have significantly contributed to LBP in some way.

Do you really think we would have been
blown away if it were no better than prehistoric moves?

I can honestly say that this event has rekindled my desire to create I'm gonna try really hard to make some ACTUAL levels now, instead of just setpieces and contraptions
Well... when I get a TV identical to the one I used at Mm... For sentimental reasons

I see that you all are wearing name tags. Do they have your real names on them, or your psn names? just curious...

Both That's why I changed my name back to Falcon on here, because the association they gave me just felt "right"
http://i51.tinypic.com/v5byis.jpg

Yes. There are some major bug fixes in the build we were playing, so expect to see some things fixed.

I love how I can now mentally read all your posts in your voice :3

Anyway, yes. We weren't just there playing for fun, we were actually helping out. We were posing various suggestions, letting them know about bugs etc. and by the end of it all, we were all approached a few times and thanked for helping out the QA team. It's not all about having fun, you know.

I really wish games didn't have to rely on hype/teasing all the time..
it's really annoying.

You've got to admit though, things DO sell millions of copies because of that

About the whole move dlc..
With my arms being fubar for me its useless to buy Move as I wont be able to use it without damaging/hurting my arms.
But I do want all the additional dlc materials, deco's etc..

How big of a chance would I have asking MM to make a dlc unlock for me.
just to help a disabled person out..

Assuming it's anything like the previous DLC packs, you should be able to play online, and have someone else collect the prize bubbles on your behalf - well, if the PSN ever returns.

That's only an assumption, though, but it seems more likely than a "DLC unlock" option which has been suggested many times in the past, but has never been implemented.

@mistervista

I wasn't aware that there was issues with the navigation controller, but given as we were all using a DualShock 3 + Move Wand during this event, I don't know the answer to your question...
Going by a specific interface choice when creating levels with Move content though, I'm fairly positive that we will also be able to use the navigation controller

Luos - for most levels, the only movement you need to do is with your wrists. If that's what you're unable to do though... then yes, best if you can get someone to help you out. I imagine it'll be the same as previous DLC packs with prizes throughout all the levels with no option to unlock everything.

I didn't play much of the levels inlcuded in the pack so not sure about any co-op challenges, but I'm pretty certain that there won't be anything that requires 4 Move controllers.

So, what can you tell us about the move? Nothing until the NDA is lifted around E3

Does it sound like it would be a valuable addition to the game? Yes. Sounds bigger than water!

Have you ever heard of more than 3 or 4 of those creators? Heard of all but RaphHeai (Sorry but it's true )

As far as caring about the community, what game developers are this involved with their community? I'm sure you can list some, but not a huge amount.
For example United Front simply released DLC for ModnationRacers but didn't have any special events or rewards for great creators. (Personally, that's why it went downhill)

Because it works for every single big company in the world. They sell millions of copies because of this tension. If they told you everything they were going to release, and then finally give it to you in about 6 months time, you would be much less inclined to buy it.

Technically, we were working as developers. Or "architects" as Kareem put it in the 7th Mm podcast. Not to mention we helped the QA team out a bunch, finding bugs and suggesting new features.

It's not finished 100% yet but its already in a really great place right now. Everyone is under NDA right now so details will have to wait but this is definitely LBP's most significant DLC pack to date.... Stay tuned.

I'm not the biggest fan of motion gaming either. However, I do have 2 move controllers but they haven't been used since January. Knowing how great the other level packs were, I can't wait for this now!

Oh hai ladylyn, I head some mutterings that you were gonna gatecrash the party, then I got drunk and forgot about it, probably would have tried to get in contact if i'd remembered. You could have at least come along for fun and pubtimes afterwards on friday. Shame

@mistervista, the community is made up of millions, which is why the betas are run for bulk testing and feedback, and why the getsatisfaction pages exist. However, more intimate focus testing, especially involving watching people use the tools and talking to them diirectly is just as valuable. This sort of thing goes on all the time at every game studio across the world, and it goes on at mm without any of us knowing about it. Hell, often they invite people who've never seen the game to run through testing sessions, because it's valuable. Occasionally they get sony to wrap the thing as a pr stunt and make it an excuse for a party. Maybe it upsets a few people that it's made public, but the overall pr win is clear.

That's all down to Mm, but they were specific in choosing people with skills in different areas. For example, O-K-I-N-G-0, Asbestos, Slaeden-bob and I were most probably picked up for our small contraption building and logic capabilities ^_^

I think it goes without saying what skillset got Rtm in!

the first jam was mostly based around people who'd won sackies ect., because that was a useful starting point for making a shortlist. It was also originally just people from europe, and mostly from uk for budgetting reasons, then they got the ok to fly in a couple of people later on. Obviously they then went thru the list they had and removed anyone who wasn't a white, middleclass man because everyone knows how bigotted mm are

not 100% sure how it went down this time, but there was a specific attempt to not invite everyone from last time and get in some new people, mixed in with some of the old faces. I guess they could have invited noone who'd been before but it's just a little bit contrived to go down that route. I originally wasn't going until I found a way to turn going to guildford on the days of the create jam into a viable business trip.... Sadly that meant I couldn't be around for all of the fun but it was totally worth it.

So these kind of events make me think:

Could we as a community put together our own yearly lbp get together?

I know it would take a lot of work and it would likely be limited to the region but I think it would be really sweet.

In my mind we would need someone ( or a small group ). Willing to organize it, but it's not impossible. If people had interest in it, id be willing to rent out a hall for the weekend for an event.

But anyway... I was just bringing this up to see if there was any interest... Or if I'm just crazy. It could potentially be a blast if many in the community decided to attend.

It was such an awesome privilege and opportunity to get picked for this, and I wasn't convinced it was even happening until I was actually having a coffee in the kitchen 20 minutes after i'd arrived ahah 0.o

Obviously NDA prevents specifics but we are allowed to say that we liked it. And oh ho ho, did I like it. I'm coming out with it now, saying that I hated PS move before I went to this jam, I thought it was a stupid Wii rip off and that no developer would ever fully justify its use in a game, especially not as a patched in feature.

Everything I saw and played with, on the whole, was more powerful and enabling than the water pack and the MGS pack combined. I am totally convinced to buy a move, just for this pack, 100%. I am not the only one that has had this change of heart, I was sharing these sentiments on the train with Nuclearfish on the train on the way home. When we can speak about it, heads will asplode!!

I would say that is a great idea! I did attend to the Eurogamer Expo, but I only managed that because it was coincidentally going on while I had my autumn vacation. I would love to be one of the organizers too, if it had not been for the fact I got lots of exams coming up in the near future, though, I got two months of summer vacation probably to plan with others! I wonder if I could talk my parents into going to... England? US? for vacation on just that particular time of vacation

You are definitely not cracy, I would definitely attend, given the chance

I made loads of friends, connections, contacts etc, I learned a lot from a variety of different people and places and saw bags of raw passion for the game from the developers and its players. I am very humbled by the people i've spoken to and played with in the last two days.

Creators who have ALL impressed me more than once with their creative achievements in LBP.

I think this is a fantastic idea. I don't have any personal experience to say how feasible something like this is, but I was once a huge fan of Lost which had a huge dedicated fanbase. This one Lost podcasting group which had a large following actually invited people down to where they lived to stay in a hotel overnight and join them in a 25 hour live podcast to raise money for autism. It was extremely successful two years in a row I think (they raised $30,000 the second year I believe).

Anyways basically I'm just saying this isn't such a crazy off the wall idea, and it's possible it could work! I think if it were to work, the best idea would be to have one of the creator's who's been to the community game jam 'host' or organize it (with help) because we know they can be trusted Then again I'm sure that would require a lot of work on the part of that person so I'm not sure if anyone's up to actually doing it.

But I certainly think it's something worth thinking about discussing!

EDIT: haha I'm having a bit of a deja vu - I think I might have brought this up last year maybe at the time of the first Game Jam or some other time but yea, I don't know if this is on topic enough to have it discussed here, but maybe a thread should be made posing the idea and how it could work? It's certainly a neat idea in my opinion.

I'm not sure how everyone was chosen, but Spaff contacted me and Chimpanzee beforehand saying they wanted to invite some people from the Contraption Challenges, so we sent a list over of the recent winners (and a couple who haven't won (yet) but keep making awesome stuff).

It could work, and would be rather awesome if we could pull it off. Although I think rather than someone hosting or renting out a hall (we're not really going to be able to pull off our own game jam with loads of PS3's) maybe just a big meet up somewhere. Then again... we already kind of do that with Eurogamer and PAX and stuff.

Some of the nicest peoples I have ever met! None of them gave a **** about the number of Creator Hearts you have in LBP, the combined number of Yays your levels may have, or your experience level on this website.

^^ This. Right here. This is why I like to go to these events, because everyone at them is awesome. Same thing at last create jam, same thing with everyone I met at Eurogamer. I'm sure it was the same for all the people at PAX and the world record event and any others along the way that I can't think of.

*sneaks in a quick fellow Lost-nerd highfive*

And yea I suppose it's already kinda there with Eurogamer and PAX, but both of those are European right? It would be cool if something could be organized in the US. But yeah, I really don't know if it could work. If someone has more of an idea of how it could be made to work, speak up! (or start a new thread about it maybe).

And... serious question here.. I know people keep asking "is Move in LBP2 worth this, is Move worth that", but I gotta add another of those questions to the list... If I had to choose between buying Portal 2 and buying the Move/PSEye just for LBP2, which would you suggest? I don't know if that's possible to answer xD But that's probably what it comes down to for me haha.

Wow tough call.

If you are a creator you're going to want the move pack. If you want to play move levels you'll need a move at the very least. Portal 2 is all kinds of epic. Ya, hard to say. You don't have any old games you could trade in to get both?

Actually that's an excellent point. In fact I think I do have some older ps3 games I could sell That might be an easy way to solve the issue!

Ambassador - Noun - A person who acts as a [official] representative or promoter of a specified activity

- he is a good ambassador for the industry

I hardly see the arrogance of using the word ambassador in the context of these events. Buy a dictionary. If you interpretted my meaning any differently then it's your fault.

I don't need to reference a dictionary for that definition. Suddenly, you are the self proclaimed ambassador to lbp when you have done nothing but bask in the glory of your acquired control and favoritism.

I'm a little confused. Are you guys talking about 2 separate packs? If the Move pack has a lot of cool stuff that doesn't actually require the Move, but does require you to have the Move in order to unlock it, then I imagine a lot of people are going to be ****** that they have to purchase a Move for stuff like image importing or a background editor for example.

@Reef1978
Some people have mentioned the idea of an "unlock collectibles" button. I can't tell you whether or not I know of such feature being included in the final piece of DLC, but in this case I reckon it would be a good decision on Mm's side.
I do imagine though that Sony will want as many people as possible to buy the Move accessories, and therefore they might have some objections against such an unlock button...

An unlock button would be great especially for those of us that can't get the multiplayer stuff. That would be crooked as hell for Sony to deny that option. They're basically bribing people to purchase the Move with LBP DLC. If they pull a stunt like that it's not gonna be pretty especially after the whole PSN fiasco.

Ya, time to spread some rumors! So far what I gathered from this thread is that we'll get more than the usual 5 levels that are in these large create packs and that maybe we'll be able to play with more than 4 players? Maybe with 4 people using Dualshocks and 4 more using the Move? Also since someone mentioned their level only required some wrist movement, can anyone confirm if it'll be possible to make levels that require a wider range of movement? Like if I wanted to make a level that required the player to hit something hard with a hammer, would it be possible?2011-05-09 02:36:00

May I speculate on the Move tools that we may be able to see in the DLC pack? Here goies ... A Move controlinator. This could include: The motion sensors, with analog outputs, along with the button outputs. Maybe the option to place a tag or emitter on the light thingy, so you can assign followers to follow the tag as the Move cursor is moved around the screen, or emit things from the cursor? Something along those lines ... A "shake" sensor, which would be triggered by a motion similar to the spin attack in Super Mario Galaxy (although probably possible using the analog logic processing we already have). "Movable" material tweak on the existing material tweaker, or movable material. Can be switched on and off like hologram, and grabbed with the Move cursor. Could also have the option of being wired to things, say, a grab sensor placed on Move material would activate when grabbed with the Move cursor. Similar to that found in SPM, but better. Mouse and keyboard support for create mode. This was promised in May last year, and was speculated to be released in a future expansion. Maybe THIS is the expansion ...Also, can't remember if anyone mentioned this (I skipped large parts of this thread), but is it within the NDA to disclose whether this DLC expansion can be played on your own, or whether multiplayer is a must as it was in SPM?2011-05-09 19:50:00

That would make sense, so that the player can run about freely and yet still use the Move. Maybe then the "controlled by nearest player", or maybe even "controlled by Player X" would allow the free-running player to wirelessly control their cursor?

I would absolutely LOVE keyboard and mouse support. I already use a USB mouse and keyboard anyways for my laptop, and it would speed up music creation in LBP2 like crazy! And I'm sure every other type of creation! ...Look what you've done, now I have my hopes up that you're right about this being a part of the pack xD haha but really, that alone would be worth buying the pack for me. Anyway, am I the only one who is hoping for some kind of speed sensor? It would be time if we started calculating speed, energy and such in LBP Switches that activate if only a certain speed is achieved, speed limits (as in limits to how fast something can go) independent of gravity and so anyone? We can already emit something with a given speed, why not incorporate this to other stuff too? Or have I managed not to notice we already have one XD2011-05-09 20:20:00

While I remember, I would like to nominate fluxlasers as the nicest guy I have met in a long time

For the majority of the jam, he was sat quietly at a playstation creating a nice bunch of awesome with the new tools... as most of us did! When I remembered that my friend was actually here, but just didn't notice him at first, I pranced on over and said hello; and was welcomed with a warm smile and handshake

After that, I found I could quite easily drop down next to him and watch the genious at work, and also call him for a little help on my own project. He didn't hesitate to pause his game and sit by and advise me He REALLY helped me out on those days, as well as making me feel warm and welcome So an extra thank you to you, man!
P.s. Loving the crazy do You manage to make a mean and tough shell fit a kind and sharing soul just perfectly

O-K-I-N-G-0 was a great laugh to sit next to! I had to while away my creating time jabbering to someone, and I'm glad it was him! (More so than he was, I imagine!). I loved watching some of the little projects he was working on, and he too offered a lot of help with my own work Sorry if I seemed a little 'defensive' over some of my methods, at times ;D [read:ignorant] xD

Asbestos101 was the cool music-y kind of guy I'd known on LBP for a long time, and wasn't much different to what I'd expected :3 He was a great guy to have a laugh with, as well as share some ideas and watch him work ^^ His music sequencer work had me tapping whatever limbs I had free from my playstation, without even realising it :L (Much like the music he made in the Beta, actually!)

Morgana25 was someone I'd been looking forward to meeting for a while, and really resembled the warm and generous den mother that her LBPC identity had led me to know
I'd like to thank xkappax for 'getting me to know' her better (Such a shame you couldn't make it, by the way :/ You were missed!) I loved how your passing comments could make everyone in the room chuckle- especially when you got excited at someone mentioning lights xD Great to meet you

Nuclearfish, the master of minigames, was truly inspiring to watch work. I couldn't begin to fathom where all these beautiful visuals were spawning from! And the gameplay he produced was just as addicting as we all know him for! Marvellous Oh yes, and I would like to thank you and Chimp very much for giving me such an amazing opportunity!

Speak of the primate...!

Chimpanzee Ahh, my long time buddy! (Okay, the guy who put up with my online stalking for long enough!) It's surprising that we had quite a few ideas and thoughts in common on the move pack! (Besides "wow" of course... everyone thought that ) Unfortunately I didn't get to see much of whatever you made, but it was interesting to see what you were producing with Nuclearfish with NF and 'KINGO's little... workaround...

Jackofcourse!
You were actually a lot younger than I expected, but very very funny Normally I hate any form of vanity and or arrogance... but it suits you well Again, your passing comments were just hi-larious Gotta love your competitiveness with Johnee after it was all over, though
http://i51.tinypic.com/e87ogh.jpg

Jaeyden
Your dedication to the Jam amazes me, and it was brilliant to meet you! I think you brought life to the party of otherwise quiet geeks your LOUD BUT NOT QUITE OBNOXIOUS VOICE could be heard throughout the lounge when you weren't working hard with RapHeai, and it just about brought a smile- and more, to everybody's faces I bet that night was NOTHING compared to the record event though, of course. Just makes me sick that after all you've done for MediaMolecule and the community, that people like Bender have the audacity to undermine you. Great to meet you, dude! Hope you had a great time in England, and a nice flight back to the states

Still not 100% sure how to pronounce that... But I do love your accent! <3 It's been great to meet another contraption-ist in the flesh, especially one as open minded and creative as yourself! I love your entusiasm, and I'm glad you flew over from fdjhgka to be there!

I must say, not QUITE himself without a few beers at hand, but still a great guy altogether I was loving some of the stuff you were making behind me ^_^

Steve_big_guns, Wexfordian, Jump_button, rtm223 and RapHeai; it was nice meeting you all too, and I KNOW you're all really nice from our brief encounters... but unfortunately our encounters were too brief to tell me enough about you guys D:

Well, I guess that's about it ^_^ Thank you all for a wonderful time! It wouldn't have been the same without you

And that concludes this season's Creator Spotlight We hope to back soon with our proper ones when Jww stops getting pounded to death by life! Speaking of Jww...

I had to finish work and jump on the first train out of town to Guildford...
Which in itself was after driving back to my hometown from work.

Ultimately I arrived a couple of hours later than everyone else but I certainly wasn't going to miss out on the Move GameJam.

Now if only I didn't have a pesky NDA keeping me quiet, I'd be able to tell you about everything we saw and in turn would further justify my mad dash to the train station.

Hopefully the wait won't be too long though.

Although just to answer an earlier concern, I think it's safe enough for me to ensure you that the gameplay for the Move Pack does not require multiple players.

The Move Pack's own levels can be played by a single player with the obvious exception of the Versus Levels.
Whilst any future community levels will obviously depend on the creator and whether they wishes to create a single or multiplayer PlayStation Move experience.

That unfortunately is the most that you're going to be able to get out of me until the NDA is lifted...

I just thought people would like to know that the single player gameplay is a huge improvement over Sackboy's Prehistoric Moves and that the main levels contained within the pack are aimed at a single player, with multiplayer being an option just as you would see in the classic Story mode.
