Community Project - LBPC Chessboard 4

Welcome to the LBPC Cheesboard 4! Rules are below, but for short just draw in a square, or tile, using any painting program (ex. Microsoft Paint). It has to be Pixel Art[/URL. So if you don't know what Pixel Art is, then go to the link.

Rules

- You must fill 1 square. No more, no less.

- If there is a gray outline around your box, you must fill it in (At the thicker edges of the grid, only draw on the inside pixel/s)

- You must say when you are taking a turn, and when you have finished your turn. This is so other people know if they can have a go or not.

- If you say you are taking a turn, but do not submit your piece within 2 hours, your turn is invalidated, and it goes onto the next person.

- You can only say you're taking a turn AFTER the last person has posted their edit.

- Try to make your piece fit in with any surrounding pieces.

- PNG File Format only! (Important >=O)

- Try to upload to somewhere such as tinypic if necessary.

- Pixel art only. This means you can use MS Paint too.

- Do not modify anyone else's block unless you have that person's permission.

- If there's any confusion regarding the rules, just ask. The squares are deliberately small, so it's easier for the "less artistic" to join in too.

- Basically, if you want a turn, just say you'll have one, then copy the previous image into your editing program and edit away. Don't forget to edit your post and put it in.

- If someone has called a spot, then everyone else must wait for said sackperson to finish their square. However, if they take more then a few hours, then do not wait for them.

- Only call a square if you are going to work on it RIGHT then. Do not hold anyone else up. :kz:

And a new fan-made rule: Chaz Rules (or Laws if you like to call them that)!

[U]Chaz Rules
1. You can edit Chaz heads, but they must be approved as Chaz worthy.
2. No editing tiles around Chaz heads unless allowed to.
3. Your edit must make the Chaz head more superior than others. If your edit fails to do this, we'll have to go to war with you. Or at least kill you. :kz:

One more thing the whole chaz head exception rule only applies to the tile containing the head. So any tiles around that can't be edited without permission even if it is part of the new chaz form. And as for moving the tile, only allowed to if it's not connected to anything around it.

Question, could we make the sky in the lower tiles the same colour as Fastbros or more in tune with the saturation? I don't like that bright blue that's in the pieces on the left and right, mine included, it's very garish, I think something more natural like the other colour is a lot more appealing visually, maybe it's just me though.		2010-07-25 18:25:00

Yes I think that would be a nice thing to do. We just need ourselves a necromancer to cast their spell I do think the standard is really good on the old ones so one more here for practice couldn't hurt.		2010-07-25 18:41:00

Ok before we do it again I think we need to discuss the sky. In chessboard 3, the thing was all over the place. Blues, green, orange, black and the way they tied in wasn't always that clean. So I think either someone should be in charge of the sky or we should draw out a plan of action for people to follow. Just there now we have space blending on the 4th tile down, yet a daylight sky 3 tiles down to the right, that is going to lead to some odd blending and shapes. I think we should either aim for a linear straight across transition that is equal the whole way across. Or a curve which I think might look nicer. Also blending from the light blue sky to black in 1 tile is a bit too steep I think. here is a test of a longer blend.

Fastbros tile and the others for that matter could be moved down one so it doesn't get effected too much, the sky would just have to be blended slightly at the top. The other alternative is to move the space sky up 1 so there is less space scenery.

Orrr we can just ignore this babbling and let it just evolve it's own way, don't want to put too much if any planning into this kind of thing 		2010-07-26 01:52:00

Looking much better than the last one so far. Possible suggestion for the future though - Only work on squares near existing ones. Otherwise you get random stuff that punishes othr players who have to try and fit it in.2010-07-26 04:58:00

That's half the fun Also I like trying to be as annoying with my square as possibly and seeing how people fit them in.

Actually, I don't care about slots. Any slot will do. It's just that I usually wait for the last minute (or last hour) and someone else would post their edit or complain.

You can use mspaint, if your using a PC that is. Just use the pencil tool so you have complete control over what pixels you put down. There really isn't that much space to work with in a tile so it's easy enough to draw it out with a mouse.

That might be the easiest way. I have no idea on the interface of Sumo. Are you using the pencil tool? Just by looking at screen shot it's below regular brush. My style is to usually just click pixels down, not drag shapes. But I do that occasionally. See if you can get a more pixel look just by clicking the mouse. If that fails, mspaint it is XD

Well you made it look better than it did before by tracing.. im kinda glad that it isnt completely accurate.I guess I just suck at pixel art xD

I couldn't get back the quality of the picture by converging your version into a PNG, so I just re-drew it in the old PNG version (OneEyedBanshee's). I don't know whether it's the same quality as your previous edit, so please feel free to correct me on some of the colors.

Also it's a jpeg again! WHAT THE!? Sky needs to be blended.

One more thing the whole chaz head exception rule only applies to the tile containing the head. So any tiles around that can't be edited without permission even if it is part of the new chaz form. I don't mind the C in my tile Cyber at all, just in future it could get crazy if people think they can edit any part. I wasn't really feeling the grey in the middle of chaz face myself Boomy so thanks And as for moving the tile, only allowed to if it's not connected to anything around it. So um yeah, add "chaz rules" to the OP lol.

That way, anybody who feels too lazy to go rifling through our post to check who has the lead and/or wants to know that the latest edit was, they can simply check the OP.

Finally, Chaz Rules are now in effect (along with the credit given to the original creator of the rules) and further more the Rules themselves are now compressed in a Spoiler for a more space friendly read.

I'll be updating it regularly, so keep your eyes on that Scoreboard!
