Was going to make this thread last night. Glad someone did

It was fantastic. Everyone I know has been all 'the new guy will be rubbish' but I knew he wouldn't be. With Stephen Moffat as the head writer it could never be anything but brilliant. Can't wait for the rest of it.

You stole the words from my mouth Jack! The new series is going to be awesome.

I massively enjoyed the episode and am now greatly looking forward to the upcoming season.

In fact, there were only 3 moments where any kind of negative thought entered my head.

"Oh, I don't care for that new silver logo."

"Ah yes, more Daleks this season."

"Ah yes, more Cybermen this season."

It's not that you can't use Daleks and Cybermen well, and hopefully they wwill ... it's that unfortunately they usually don't, and they just turn them into stormtroopers (generic enemy footsoldiers); but yes, I also realize that they pretty much have to use Daleks every season because of complications with who actually owns the right to them.

Those are relatively nit-picky though, and after seeing the episode I am now pretty psyched for the new season.

I've got to agree with the Daleks and Cybermen thing. They always get used because of their iconic status and it obviously gets all the kiddies excited and all the media interested. But as a result of them being used so much they start to lose a bit of their 'specialness'. It's just one of those things really. Although I've got to say with Stephen Moffat as head writer I have total faith that they will be given the story they deserve this series to be honest. I have ultimate respect for that man!

I actually love the new logo, I thought the way they made the 'D' and 'W' look like the TARDIS was genius haha.

What? Did it remind you of something? Something... you've done?

I like the new doctor, hes like an action hero now. You never saw David Tennant hanging out of a broken TARDIS in the skies, smashing a ladder of a fire engine through a hospital window and talking to the worlds greatest people through a pervert's labtop!

This season will be awesome!

I loved it I really loved Tennant as the Doctor but I think that this Matt guy will be good. Some of my favourite episodes have been written by Moffat so I've got high hopes. And I'm excited that it is every week, no more one off specials and then having to wait 3 months for the next episode. OOOOeeeeeOOOOOOO2010-04-04 18:26:00

This series, I think, is going to be amazing. To be honest, I didn't have high hopes for it because, frankly, the fourth series with Tennant was absolute crap. They got far too carried away with their silly plotline, and Catherine Tate just doesn't belong in a show like Doctor Who. I'm very glad they noticed all these flaws, and by the looks of things they seem to have fixed them. I already love the humour (Yes, THAT bit is very funny indeed. "Oh yeah, by the way, delete your internet history.") I think it is genius, and a great departure from the last few specials of the Tennant era, when the Doctor got all mopey for no reason. I just hope this trend of awesome continues!2010-04-04 18:56:00

The new series is okay, but I would never expect anything to be better than series 2 with Tennant (David's first series) in it.
Also, the aliens look a lot more low budget...But I knew they were tight on money at the time anyway.

I thought the episode was a bit rushed (Even though the show is now 65 minutes long) and fast for me. Half the time I couldn't understand what they were saying!! :/2010-04-04 20:22:00

I thought it was great! Apart from I hate the new logo;

http://screenrant.com/wp-content/uploads/doctor-who-2010-logo.jpg

It just doesn't look right to me....

Also I found some parts were trying to be funny too much but just weren't. Like when he was eating all the food and the fish fingers and custard... *yawn*.... Over with the complaints and now to the good points:

I love the new TARDIS and screwdriver, they look more high tech and pure awesomeness. With the exception of those parts that were trying to be funny, it was really funny.

I must agree wih you on this one. There didn't really seem to be much of a point to that scene, and as you said, It was trying too hard to be funny.

Hey what about the runaway bride

Can't wait for this to air in Australia. April 18 on my calender. I like that logo, it's a bit more retro like the TARDIS is.

The only new thing i don't like is the exterior of the tardis, it looks a little too bulky and plasticy. I prefer the old rustic one. But the inside is cool ^^ Though it'll be extremely difficult to recreate in little big planet...2010-04-08 10:59:00

Speaking of making a TARDIS in LBP, can anyone think of a way to make something bigger on the inside?

You could have it just simply dropping through the floor when you enter the TARRDIS into a bigger space. Or a teleport. I think there is no way you can actually make something bigger on the inside.

you start the level with just a screen with your sackboy/girl and a TARDIS with a black background and the sackboy goes into teh tardis and it opens to the inside and you are able to make it as big as you want because nobody knows the actual size of the TARDIS2010-04-09 11:40:00

Ok, the 2nd episode was shown, what do you guys think of it? I thought it was alright, but I never understood the story till about the end though.

Probably the best bit was the teaser at the end! The Daleks! Winston Churchill! Next week!

The episodes are trying to be too emotional too quickly, it's starting to get a little odd. And Matt is trying way too hard to be david tennant. Also, did anyone else catch 'the line' of this series. (last time it was 'he will knock 4 times&apos I've forgotten it now.2010-04-11 11:15:00

Haha, the same with me, so very true.
We've all been there once in our life.

Although, PERSONALLY, in my opinion, I hate the new Doctor Who.
The new TARDIS looks ridiculous, I hate the new Doctor, and the Sonic Screwdriver.
I prefer the good ol' times, where Cybermen were made out of tin foil.

...Although, I'll probably still watch the series, and probably still enjoy it.

...And Karen Gillian is good looking IMO.

Yet again, the Daleks return! The episode was brilliant. I think I'm going to say that the whole way through the series for every episode, though!

Winston Churchill was quite fun, the way he bobbed his head up and down with his little cigar.

The multi-colour Daleks were weird, I thought. Although they look really bad-***, they were a little cheap looking. But overall, very bad-***!

Oh, and the spitfire in space. It's like Star Wars and WW2 combined! It's probably my favourite scene in Doctor Who ever!

And ofcourse, another crack...

personally I loathe the new daleks, tardis and doctor. As david said on 'you have been watching' he looks like a handsome bloke who's been smashed repetedly in the face with a shovel. The new daleks have cool colours but the eyestalks look like salt shakers mixed together with the lens thats more bizarre than a this (http://i.imgur.com/Q3JcX.jpg). Also the tardis seems to have thrown up the 20th century inside itself.2010-04-19 18:45:00

I like the new doctor, he nails "mad" a little better than tennant, (even though tennant did an awesome job too) he's pretty cool in some ways.
I hate the new tardis, i prefer the old rustic one, especially this exterior which is bulkier and too plasticy...

The daleks are still upturned dustbins with egg whisks and toilet plungers, no matter what the paintjob is.

the weeping angels are, without a doubt, the most clever and scary doctor who monsters ever. scarier than the daleks and their fat future selves could ever be.

Did anyone else think that the rainbow-effect daleks were anything but intimidating?

I'm also mildly annoyed that in the last two episodes whats-her-face (Fitty McGee, you know who I mean) has been the one to save the day, because the doctor gets it wrong. The first time round, I thought it was kinda cool, but it's gonna get really irritating if they make this a regular thing.

haha yes I agree about the Power Ranger Daleks!!

Fitty McGee certainly is erm, fit? but yeah anyway, I can see what you mean. Although I don't think that she saved the day as such in the Dalek one (I know without her it would have all gone boom but bear with me)...

It's not uncommon for the companion to be able to connect with people better than the Doctor. There's a running theme that the Doctor needs a companion with him to keep him grounded and keep him 'human'. It's that human aspect that saved the day this time, which isn't something that's new to Doctor Who really.

But yeah, obviously it would become tiresome if it kept happening. I think it's more a direct ploy to establish Amy (I mean Fitty McGee) as an important character though.

It wasn't a great episode if I'm honest. It was alright, around the same quality that we got from RTD's time. But I am expecting more from Moffat.

Personally, i don't find the Empty Child scary at all. Well, apart from the bit where the Doctor person in the hospital throws up another face. Most scary monster was probably the water monsters. I found them quite freakeh.

Can't say I'm that impressed so far.

The new 'doctor' just comes across to me as an excitable kid who was left in charge of things until the real doctor returns. That scene with the fish fingers and custard just compounded that even more, that was just stupid.

As for the 'Daleks' and 'Cybermen' that just ruined it completely for me. Yes they are icons but the previous doctor defeated them 'once and for all'. What a cop-out to resurrect them yet again. It's about time the writer's just let them go and came up with some new enemies. You never know, if they really try they might be able to come up with something just as iconic for future generations to enjoy. Let's be honest when the new series started were you really hoping to see "Pimp my Dalek" ? I know I wasn't.

Can't say I agree at all with what you think of the new Doctor. Personally I think Matt is fantastic. He has that energy and the quirkiness that the Doctor needs. Personally Matt Smith is exactly how I'd expect the Doctor to be. To me the Doctor should be a bit odd and quirky, from his personality, looks, body language, everything. He's an alien, I just think he should be an odd character. Matt has that spot on.

I enjoyed Tennant's Doctor but did think he got a bit pantomimey at times, it was fun at first, but it just wore off a bit towards the end. Still absolutely loved his Doctor though, don't get me wrong. I just think when put next to Matts there's no doubt for me as who 'feels' more like the Doctor.

Tennant's Doctor may have had the quirky personality, but his looks and his dress sense was just a bit too cool. It worked at the time no doubt, but as I said, Matt just feels more Doctory to me now

The fish and custard thing was more for the kiddies. It was just a massive visual clue that his body was still a bit messed up and sorting itself out. Doctor Who is full of stuff like that though, it's a family show after all

I have to say I agree with Mistervista.

Something just doesn't seem like 'right' with Matt Smith. The thing I thought made David Tennant seem really like the Doctor, is the way he'd occasionally say stuff and not understand a word of it... So far, I haven't seen Matt Smith say something you don't quite understand, which just makes him seem human.

David Tennant was the bestest Doctor...

nope, personally I liked tom baker, he was very strange last-of-race-hobo--ish.

I have to agree with jackofcourse. Matt Smith is quirking and exciting. He's more alien than David Tennant's Doctor. I loved the 10th one and was actually considering not watching this series because of him leaving, but the new series' funny and witty scripts and Matt Smith's Doctor have kept me to love my favourite show!2010-04-26 21:46:00

Matt Smith is a new doc it will be wrong if he was the same as David Tennant, I dont think anyone saying he a bad one you're just used to David.Big ears only did one series.

Amy Pond "Karen Gillan" is much better then any of the other companion's <//< nothing to do with be being a legs man (Catherine Tate was good but none of the others I liked god i hate Billie Piper)

but I'd just like to point out that THE DOCTOR IS NOT SUPPOSED TO USE A GUN!!!!!!!!!!!! that is all

What because 10 made a big deal of it in the end of time?

3 Used a gun to kill 2 Ogrons in day of the Daleks.
5 Killed a Cyber leader in Earthshock with its own gun.
5 also shoots an exposed Dalek creature in Resurection of the Daleks.
6 shoots a cyber controler in Attack of the Cybermen.
9 was tooled up and ready to shoot the Dalek in the episode Dalek until Rose talked him out of it.

I've not watched any of the episodes yet as i'm worried he'll be too similar to tennant's style of Dr and ruin it for me

All the Doctors so far have had their own angle and style and have been different to the last ones. This guy just looks like the square root of tennant :s

Tennant is a fantastic actor and let's be honest, for many viewers, his doctor is going to eclipse all the others in your mind, simply because they are far more familiar with him than any other doctor. Eccleston only had the one series (a shame IMO, but then he was supposedly only a stand-in anyway) and the series before that was so long before, so understandably, Tennant's Doctor is The Doctor to many.

Matt Smith is very different to Tennant, so getting used to him will take a while. Plus you have to get over the initial weirdness of him not knowing who he is for at least an episode (I think jack was spot on about the fish/custard thing). Personally I think he's great, with that weird mixture of his clumsy awkwardness and ability to be very serious when taking charge.

ooo a thread where i can rant about the paradox in the recent episode

A. The Time Rip stops you being born, then surely the angels would have never existed which then means that the two headed things never died, also that means that the ship would have never crashed so then the doctor would never have to follow the ship...
B. If the time rip consumes everything and stops it being born why was the star whale alive?

I was also really disapointed when we saw the angels move, it kind of removed the scary element for me, i think the fact that they only move when you can't see them was the scariest, now that we've seen them move they aren't as scary.

That makes no sense, because the angels would still be able to move fine! It said that it wasn't voluntary and that they freeze only when seen, but if you walk confidently you can avoid the terrible stuff!

A. The Time Rip stops you being born, then surely the angels would have never existed which then means that the two headed things never died, also that means that the ship would have never crashed so then the doctor would never have to follow the ship...

Except... The Angels were being looked at when they fell into the rip. When an Angel is being looked at it literally ceases to exist (a quantum loop or lock or some made up bs). That's why they don't move when looked at. So... The angels, the creature that is actually the angel, didn't actually go into the time rip, so would not have been removed from history :hero:

B. If the time rip consumes everything and stops it being born why was the star whale alive? The whale didn't go into the time rip.

I was also really disapointed when we saw the angels move, it kind of removed the scary element for me, i think the fact that they only move when you can't see them was the scariest, now that we've seen them move they aren't as scary. Well yes because when you don't see them move, they move bloody fast is what is so scary about them. They were far too slow when we saw them moving.

In fairness, Dr Who is far to riddled with inconsistencies and really bad links that it's not worth looking into them. It's very much one of those things to not be analysed too much

Although, while we are analysing... River Song kills the Doctor at some point in the future past?

Yeah, I wonder who she did kill. It couldn't be the Doctor as Father Octavian would have told him when he was being held by the angel. Plus, she said she killed a man. The Doctor could regenerate so... he wouldn't actually have died. I wonder if it is though? Heh, better keep watching!

Time Lords can't regenerate indefinitely. 13 lives is the max, so yes, he can be killed completely. I'm sure there have been mentions of reasons why regeneration would be impossible as well. Then again it wouldn't surprise me if the 13 lives rule can be broken by some loophole either so...

But I agree, it's probably not going to be him, as that's far to obvious and clearly the implication we are supposed to get from it.

The 13 rule can be broken. I think it's already been done by the Master in the old who.

It's obvious they are hinting at it being the Doctor who she kills. There's so many ways to get around her ending up in prison with him not actually being dead though. She 'kills' him, everyone see's it and locks her up...he then regenerates and walks away happily. Obviously that's very loose and it would need motive and story behind it but there's hundreds of ways for her to end up there with him not actually being dead. I think it's a safe bet that she had no choice in killing him either, it would have been to save a planet or something.

Anyway that's a lot a presuming going on there.

Excellent episode with a fantastic ending (I mean the gravity stuff, not the actual ending ).

That's a proper ending (RTD take note)! No magic button that resets everything and is just explained away by some crazy science that no one understands. This was something that has been mentioned throughout the episode and made perfect sense!

The dialogue at the end of: (not exactly right)
Doctor: 'Amy I need to sort you out right now'
Amy: 'that's what I've been sayinggg

Was brilliant. That's pure Steven Moffat. Anyone who has seen his sitcom 'Coupling' will know all about it

His ability to do things different in terms of narrative structure is fantastic. The way some of the episodes in Coupling are laid out is genius. If you've seen that it's easy to see where 'Blink' came from.

Not to be obsessed but i know how

The Time lord becomes a sort of burnt version, with literally no features, he then has to consume a body to inhabit (in the masters case an old watch maker (i think) )
then he gets refreshed

Does anyone else find it ironic that the doctors actually getting younger as he ages?

Propper spoilers.

Doctor Who:

Fans over on the GallifreyBase forums are bandying about rumors/spoilers/speculation. Apparently Rory, Amy's boyfriend, dies at the end of episode nine, the Silurian story, and somehow Amy "forgets" that Rory existed ? like maybe, Rory is swallowed by The Crack. (Amy appears not to remember him in the Vincent Van Gogh story.) But they still have to get married in episode 13, because time goes boom on their wedding day and their wedding is crucial. So there's some sort of paradox.

Oh and there's a set pic (which we missed somehow) which shows Young Amelia Pond reappearing in the season finale, and she goes to visit the "Anomaly Exhibition" at the National Museum. And rumor has it all sorts of baddies will turn up, including the Weeping Angels. Also in the finale: Chrissie Cotterill's character from the Van Gogh episode. (Speculation has it, the Pandoricum is a space where everything that's been swallowed by The Crack goes, and when it's opened, everything spills out.) Photo by ScootyBoy. [Gallifrey Base]

I just thought I'd stop by and say that Doctor Who is brilliant. I am a couple of episodes behind most of you all because I live in Australia, which is an outrage. Can't wait to find out what "the crack" means.2010-05-04 07:43:00

The crack belongs to Amy. Bit weird, but yeah, it's hers. I suppose I'm saying it in a immature way but hey, you'll work it out over the next few episodes.

EDIT: IGN's review of "Flesh and Stone" is up. Yet again, 10/10

http://uk.tv.ign.com/articles/108/1087507p1.html

That's two perfect episodes. I must say, the last two episodes have been TV gold. I can't wait for the next episode too. It looks very funny!

I liked it loads. Thought it was funny, really good story yada yada yada!

But, did anyone notice how cheap this was? The look of it? I dunno, I've never really had the "cheap" feel to any episode, but this one did. Did anyone else?

Yeah I know what you mean I swear theyonly used like 5 sets, I thought the end was a bit weak though the reality thing working too well? And the fact that she had thousands of these fish things in the canal and yet sent the most important part of their culture, a bit dumb. The fish monsters never looking so buxom was good 2010-05-08 21:27:00

What an amazing episode. Simply put. I loved it. Yeah....

I thought that this has to be the series' best so far, beating the Weeping Angels!

Dream lord was an awesome character, not entirely convinced it was the Doctor though, however "There's only one person who could hate me as much as you." He does have reason to hate himself, all the tragic things he has caused: Destruction of Gallifrey, genocide of the Daleks (on multiple occasions) etc.2010-05-16 09:22:00

I think he just said it must have blown in and got stuck in the crooks of the Tardis.

From the candle meadows of Karass Don Slava. All we have to go on is that it fell into the TARDIS at some point

The pyshic pollen was a really bad way to conclude the story. Definately was a cop-out.

The Dream Lord was great. I hope (and know) he will return, because of him appearing in the Doctor's reflection. I think we'll see him again.

No actually its my reaction to steven moffat and the 11th doctor. See those hearts in the eyes: They represent love. Love for doctor who. I miss david tennant but matt smith is great. The only one i didnt get so far was the dalek one. I loved the anglel one but i think they shoudlnt have strayed so far from the original angels. Angels dont kill they send back in time. I loved the Dreamlord guy, and the smirking reflection at the end. I have to say, they are doing SO well, the scripts, acting and concepts are all absolutely BRILLIANT!

I spent half the episode tryin gto guess who the Dreamlord was, like maybe Omega, or the Black Guardian or something, but yeah, turns out it was... well I shouldn't say.

Loved the vampires in Venice too

"You've got noisy neighbours upstairs" "There isn't anybody upstairs" "I KNEW you were gonig to say that, anybody else know eh was going to say that??"

i wasnt a fan of the start but it has got better as the episodes have been getting along but a t the back of my mind there me asking
"whats with that crack and why havnt they dealt with it"
they have taken a relaxed approach to it but i think because theres something to do with the 26th June (Amy's wedding day)

I was watching through the first few and noticed they are different from the latest ones. For example the Doctor seems different. I can't point it out, he's just different.

Potential Hardcore spoilerage for the finale.

Doctor Who:

Someone over at Gallifrey Base got a hold of a ton of promo pics for the two-part season finale, which reveal a slew of returning monsters, including three multi-colored Daleks, Cybermen, Weevils, Sycorax, a Hoix, a Blowfish from Torchwood, a monster that looks like General Kudlak from the Sarah Jane Adventures, Judoon, a few Silurians, and some Roman soldiers. Possibly there but not pictured: the Autons. The Weevils help to drag the Doctor to a chair, and he's strapped down while the Daleks and other monsters watch.

Speculation: This could be a nightmare scenario where the monsters are taken from the Doctor's mind via the Pandorica. Or the monsters could all team up to trap the Doctor in the Pandorica, so that he's erased from time and then it's like he never existed. Unfortunately, given how many times the Doctor has saved the whole universe, there'll be nothing left without him. And the "future Doctors" we've glimpsed could be the trapped Doctor traveling backwards along his own timeline and escaping briefly through the cracks.

Also in the as-yet-unposted finale pics: Young Amelia, who may figure in the big cliffhanger. And Rory is there dressed as a Roman soldier. And grown-up Amy is looking much the worse for wear. In one picture, Rory is holding Amy and screaming. There's also a weird-looking picture of a Dalek looking like a stone statue.

The penultimate episode of the season is called "The Pandorica Opens.

Might be a production order thing.

Production order that episodes were filmed in:

? Episodes 4 and 5 (The Time Of Angels)

? Episodes 2 and 3 (The Beast Below, Victory of the Daleks)

? Episode 1 (The Eleventh Hour)

? Episodes 8 and 9 (Two parter)

? Episodes 6 and 10 (Vampires in Venice, Vincent and the Doctor)

? Episodes 7, 11, 12 and 13.

I'm hating this series so far I have to say. I haven't enjoyed 1 single episode yet. It just doesn't feel like Doctor Who or maybe it's just that the new doctor just doesn't cut it or that the writers have lost the plot completely. I was prepared to give them the benefit of the doubt with the first couple of episodes as the doctor would be getting used to being reborn again and settling in to his new body but it's not got any better.

The doctor is supposed to be a hero who can save the world no matter what but so far he's just come across as useless with no clue what to do. I wouldn't trust him to butter my toast. Infact it's as though Amy is the doctor and matt smith is the sidekick. Maybe this is intentional by the writers becasue they plan to have a woman as the next doctor and this is their way of getting us used to the idea. Certainly seems that way to me.

I agree with you on the 1st few episodes but I've loved all the recent ones. The Weeping Angels episodes were so cool, and very smartly wrote. Then there's the amazing Amy's Choice, which I know some didn't like, but I for one loved it.

As I said before, I'm liking the episodes better than RTD's era.

I have to say I was (and am) rather disapointed with the lack of continuity this season, for example why did the Silurian speak English?

Now in previous series they had established the fact that if you travelled in the TARDIS then it automatically translates for you, however 2 random humans who hadn't even seen the interior in the box can suddenly converse freely with a complete "Alien" (For use of a better word)

Doesn't the tardis translate via some kind of telepathic link? And isn't the tardis somewhat intelligent? And wouldn't the tardis therefore know that it was convenient to the plot development of the episode for it to traslate for the bystanders as well?

That sounds like a suitably "convenient" explanation for Dr Who.

Christmas Invasion had characters that had never been in the TARDIS getting english translations and they pulled some quick explanation of the doctor being part of the process.

I guess the translation also works over a certain distance.

Yeah, I think when the tardis is near people can hear aliens talk. I can remember someone, Rose I think, saying that since she has travelled in the tardis she can understand.

Yes the TARDIS acts as a psychic babel fish, not sure about the distance though, since it is a time traveling box I'm guessing the distance is fairly infinite. However the TARDIS is pretty fault so there is bound to be insufficiency. 2010-05-26 09:18:00

Finale stuff

Synopsis for The Pandorica Opens from DWM 422:

"A Van Gogh painting is ferried across thousands of years, communicating a disturbing prophecy to the Doctor. In 102AD England, Romans receive a surprise visit from Cleopatra. Nearby, Stonehenge reveals the Pandorica, a prison-box of legend. As it slowly unlocks, terrible forces gather in the heavens above. What bearing do growing cracks in time and Amelia Pond's bedroom, have on all this? There is just one certainty: silence will fall...."

"AMY: Pandorica- we've heard that before. What is it?
RIVER SONG: A box. A cage. A prison. It was built to contain the most feared in all the universe.
THE DOCTOR: And it's a fairy tale, a legend- it can't be real.
RIVER SONG: If it is real, it's here... and it's opening."

Thanks!

I don't get what a painting by Van Gogh is the centre of attention for the cracks. It's a pretty weak story element. I am thinking of the finale everyday, it'll be like a fan-fest! Maybe that's a bad thing, but for now it just looks cool!

I know I am loving this series, and am sad to see it's almost over.

You do know that significant parts of the series story arc are ordered in by the head writer, Chibbers will have been told to put in the part about the shrapnel.

It's how the writing works, the head writer gives the hired writers a list of things they want in an episode, the hired writer goes and writes the script then hands it in to the head writer for editing.2010-05-29 20:34:00

What an amazing episode. The bit in the big hall where they bring in dead Alaya has to be my favourite scene this series. It sent shivers down my body as the Doctor watched them bring it in.

I would say 10/10. Probably the best episode so far. I've been saying that for a couple of weeks now but... wow, what a great series.

I thought it was really sad when Rory died. Call me a whimp if you must, but it wasn't sad enough on screen. Like, the major character dies, scene in the TARDIS then "No Rory" It's the death of the major character in the story, why rush it?

Now that you mention it it doesn't kind of feel reminiscent of 'The Wire'.

Again, it was a very good episode, I didn't cry but I was watching all doey eyed when they introduced him to the Van Gogh exhibit, it was very very nice.

The bit where van Gogh enters the museum felt so real and magical. Don't really know why, maybe the amazing acting from van Gogh.

Ok, what would you rank out of 10?

Me? 8/10

9/10

I like it when they explain why you can't see the creature as opposed to" we just can't"

9/10 for me too, definitely my favourite episode of the new (Eleventh Doctor) series so far.

Van Gogh was totally awesome, but had one flaw that most of us succumb too, wanting Karen Gilian/Amy Pond.

I thought they coulda got the creature to bite his ear off.

I think they should let the writer write again.because I'd say that's up there with Waters of Mars In terms of quality. I'm not sure bout next weeks looks a bit too "Absorbalof" to me, you know when the love of his life disapears.

Agree with KernelM. Not particulary looking forward to the episode.

I've been running round da web and found a few rumours. Maybe the Cybermen will appear. Maybe they are the monsters upstairs. In the preview you can hear and see electric up the stairs, something the Cybermen are famous for. Then the Doctor wears an earpiece which again references the Cybus Cybermen. The earpiece I think would be a way to communicate with Amy so maybe that's out of the picture.

Overall, maybe it's not the Cybermen. But I personally would love it to be, just to shake up a boring episode.

I really didn't know that the doctor could play Footie. Poor Craig though.

Guess that it's world cup special and he will somehow defeat the monster using ENGLAND patroisim and a blow to the head with a football.

Still fuming about the fact that it's blocked in all country's other than UK City of THE DALEKS

Although I would rather have a MASS EFFECT style PS3 exslusive and LBP DLC Too while there at it.

Best part:

"Yeah. I seem to have the sort of face that people tell there plans too." That bit was priceless

My bet is that DOCTOR is what's in the pandorical. The next episode looks unreal.

Hope it doesn't turn out to another ABSORBALOAF type episode.

So far so good.

Corden seems to be doing pretty good so far. Shame about the clash with US VS ENGLAND

Really good I enjoyed that a lot. It was nice to just see the Doctor all by himself and lots of 'normal' dialogue. Interesting twist with him not having to explain everything to humans like usual but having to interact with them in day to day ways.

I think the dialogue was fantastic and Matt's performance was also great. That episode would have worked really well nearer the start to let us get to know Matt's version of the Doctor.

The football scene was good but I think it went on maybe a little too long. Didn't need quite the montage towards the end of it. Other than that, excellent.

He is funny and the episode was great, but then again I along with my mates are huge fans of banter as a form of humour, taking the michael out of each other which is James Cordens main feature, thought he played his character very well. Thought it was brilliant seeing The Doctor in an ordinary setting.

Next weeks looks awesome.

Next episode promises to be dramatic, many old enemies returning. The Cybus Cybermen are probably the same ones that the Doctor encountered in Victorian Britain, maybe the Cybermen got to the Victorian times through cracks? And Rory the Roman, haha!
Cannot wait for the next episode, a week to wait though.

STOP WITH ALL THE PERCEPTION FILTERS!!!

I'm expecting one more for the finale, they've had so many this year it's like they really want the audience to be aware of them so they can pull off a big one thats been running all season thats only obvious when you know it's there.

I'm also expecting this years frequent use of old doctors to have significance, having so many in one season is more then a little nod to the past

My favourite episodes are when Moffat does what he does best, take a unique concept, that's really simple and make it into a fantastic and intriguing story. He's been doing this all his career, not just in Doctor Who.

If anyone has seen his sitcom 'Coupling' they will know what I mean. There's so many episodes that don't follow your basic narrative structure. Many times it'll start at the end or start in the middle, or repeat itself 3 times with different outcomes etc. This is what Moffat does best, and while I've loved this series, I do wish that he would have played around with the 'basic forumula' a bit more.

I'm looking forward ot the finale, I just hope it doesn't suffer from the whole 'epicness' stuff too much. As I said, the best episodes are the ones that are simple yet have something very interesting about them. Finales usually suffer from trying to do too much.

I know what everyone means. Sometimes Doctor Who handles stuff too epic-ly. Remember Journey's End? Big Dalek Invasion? Turned into Catherine Tate blabbing on about sciency stuff? Yeah, that epic-ly put together disaster!

But this is Steven Moffat. Coming in dramatically from the horizon and saving DW's series finales.

C'mon Stevey, give us another Doomsday-worthy finale!

Oh yeah, The Big Bang (part 2) will be 55 mins long. So no, it won't be rushed... much.
