Upgrade Complete!

Archive: 326 posts

Hey guys! We finally finished upgrading, and we're ready for you to help tune things up! As the notice read, please leave your feedback in this thread so we can whip this forum into shape.

Also, as to the features that are now disabled due to the upgrade, here's a more detailed list:

Posting a level in the Level Showcase now uses the standard thread creator instead of the pre-designed form. This is because the mod we used to provide this feature isn't compatible with vB 4.0, so we had to disable it. You'll still be able to show off your levels, you'll just have to put more work into making it look pretty.
Levels posted in the Level Showcase will not be promoted to Cool Levels for at least a while. The thread promotion mod we used is also incompatible with 4.0, so it's been disabled.
vBExperience is gone for a while. As soon as a 4.0 update is released (it is supposedly being worked on) we will update it and re-enable it.
The LittleBigGallery is gone. As of now, I do not believe the original developer has any plans to release a 4.0 version, so it is entirely possible that feature could be gone for good (though we can use another gallery product that is compatible with 4.0). We do still have the images on our server, but without any way to differentiate which image belonged to what user, re-instating them seems unlikely. If we can come up with a way to re-instate these, we will - we're currently working on that as well.
Live threads are gone as well, though they may make a comeback.

Those are the big ones, but there are lots of other little things that are missing that you might not notice just yet. I expect problems - with any upgrade of this size, they're unavoidable. If you run into anything that you think is out of whack, please make sure to make it known to me in this thread.

Thanks guys!

It's very weird right now without the theme but you just enabled it so things will slowly turn back to normal.

A few questions:
* where can I find the user Cp
* Do we have to create new profile visual styles and such?

I'm browsing the new stuff a bit

For your first question, try clicking "Settings" in the top right. As to the second, I'm not sure. I'll look into it.

Ok, thanks for the info CC. Thats what I needed to find my subscribed threads.

I'm browsing around, it is very disorienting at the moment...feels like I'm on a different site except you were there and you were there and you were there *WAKES UP*

Advertising banners showing up for donators... guessing that's going to be sorted eventually. Agree with Zwollie - feels really weird but kind of cool too.2010-01-13 05:44:00

It's all fine but if you lose that many features, was it really interesting to upgrade? Will it eliminate the "error 500" we periodically get?

I hope we'll have the old skin back.

Looking around, I like the sleek new style but I find some of the colors to blend in a bit too much, more colors would be nice. And the text in certain parts seems too small.

Everything else seems great.

Wow... very different. I'm with the rest so far: looks good, but I hope to see improvements, realizing that it's a brand new upgrade. I would also second the not that Morgana made, I'm seeing ads right now. Hope that gets sorted out soon, as well as a more LBP-ish skin, and emoticons.

Edit - that was actually a test... Emoticons working as per usual. Yes? :star: :star:

Hi CC,
Glad to have LBPC back online. Like others have said, this is going to take some getting used to. I hope the visuals will change and we won't have all that extra content on the home page.
A couple of issues:
*Is there any way to minimise the Social group links on the user profile page? They take up a massive amount of space with the avatar boxes in there - i prefer it all compact and in one location.
*I was quite annoyed to discover a 1000 character limit to posts in the social groups! Is that a default setting that will be relaxed - or is that restriction something we will have to live with?
*Plus, I imagine that once the social group organisers all check in, there will be the option to have last post showing first? At the moment they are first post first... might have to look into that for my group... Edit - found the option to view 'newest first' in forum settings but it's not transferring to social groups
* Not all BBCode tools are working, it seems.

Thanks!

Edit - Will we also be able to customise our profiles like last time (with colour, etc)?

I had a problem with a new level showcase thread. The edit options and whatnot were all messed up. I know you are going to have a ton of kinks to work out, just bringing it up.

Edit: Whoa, new attachment uploader. I'm freaking out, man!

Edit2: The issue is apparently gone. About the Cool Level... can mods move them there manually in the time being. It will be more work, but still.

My posting permissions are set to :

You may not post new threads

And apparently the text color option does not work in quick-reply mode... let's see if it works in Edit reply mode.

Nope. How about advanced?

Yes... but it used the color name, and the other two used the RGB color numbers. (spell checker's working, BTW)

OK - another thing... Once finished posting (editing), I was repositioned back to the beginning of the thread, rather than at my new posting. Hmmm... but not on this edit. Strange... what if I try it in advanced edit again? Yep - following an advanced edit, the user is returned to the beginning of the thread (page? dunno since this has not rolled to a new page yet).

So... to summarize this posting:

Quick Reply and Edit Reply use the RGB color convention, and it's not working correctly, but they keep the proper positioning following a post/edit.
Advanced reply uses the color Names convention, which seems to work well, but it incorrectly repositioning following an edit.1
And I am not allowed to create new threads

The first few days will be very weird indeed but the addition of a future LBPC theme will fix a lot of things.

Right now it feels like that show, 60 minute make-over, like I'm one of the victims and I'm looking at bad paintjobs and loose wallpaper and wondering who let those guys into my house in the first place and how I will have my sweet revenge.

With all the cool things were losing though...kinda makes me wonder why you didn't wait until those features received an update before upgrading the site. The Xp, most notably a way of thanking people, will be missed around these parts.

Oh well, I'm sure its all part of a bigger vision but we're humans and we fear change so please, somebody frickin hold me!!

Some random things I noticed:

Youtube tags don't seem to work like they are supossed to (which might be a good thing cause I hated them.:blush
EDIT: Noticed the new video function in the reply box, problemo uno solved.
Groups have some problems with the newest posts showing up waaaaay in the back.
When going into subscribed threads or threads with a new post you are taken to page 1 instead of the newest post.
When looking at the what's new pages or subscribed thread, it does not show which user made the newest post.

(will edit the post when something new comes along)

Wow this very surprising, I quite like the visual style, but I think you should make the colours more LBPC esque. I thought I had gone on Little Big Network by mistake before I noticed the announcements at the top. My only suggestions are to, change the colours, get a nice new header and clear the stuff off the home page. Really like the new layout though.2010-01-13 08:50:00

Yeah.. I hate to say it, but had I realized this I would have voted to hold off until those were available. Sorta like we gained a whole bunch of features and lost the ones we really liked.

Quite a bit of the site is confusing, but I am sure it will get there in time.

Hello.

I gotta be honest, I don't like it. The theme, the banner, the Cool levels and the gallery. I miss them. I'm just feeling like something is missing (as Endless_Echo said, it doesn't look LBP-ish enough).

Anyway, LBPCentral isn't only an interface, it's a great and kind community, so I guess I'll get used to it

Didn't CC make it clear that a visual theme will be coming soon?
It's not very LBP now but will be soon enough, the cold visual style is just temporary so that is one gripe that definitely will be fixed.

I just don't think the visual theme from the old version can even be applied to 4.0 so CC (or whoever does that) still has to create said theme. Give the man some time...and sleep!!

I've spent about 30 minutes clicking around and seeing what's what. Yes, it IS different, and regular visitors are bound to be little disorientated and confused at first (just like you were when you first joined the site, remember?). A few people have already mentioned that major upgrades like this take time, and I'm sure there will be lots of tweaks and fixes in the near future. Be patient if you can, we're all in the same boat!

For me, there are positives already. The site looks crisper and more professional, even without a bespoke LBPC skin. Members profile pages are clearer, and when the Home Page is dressed up how the admin want it, it'll be more familiar.

The adverts showing for donators will be a simple enough fix - but again, I'm sure this will come soon.

Yes, it is unfamiliar at the moment, especially when you visit a lot and most things you do are semi-automatic. But bear with it and get used to the look and feel.

What the hell have you done CC.

This is now totally useless. All I see is a load of news articles/adverts.

Where is LBP?? It was great before but it doesn't even look like an LBP forum now. It looks like the site has been hijacked. That was my first thought. What's going on. I'm afraid if it stays like this I won't be using it any longer. I can't make head nor tails of it. What a total shambles.

Some parts I do like for example the PM list management is much handier and cleaner as well as the subscription management. I like the calendar as that could be handy to know some upcoming birthdays and other special events like site contest deadlines. So I do see quite a few positives and know that CC will get the rest we need added back in asap. So forgive me if I sounded ungrateful in an earlier post. I was just just a bit shocked at some of the feature losses (the ones due to mod incompaitiblity with 4.0) as well as that we didn't wait till Friday evening or Saturday so CC had more time to do the upgrade and not interfere with his sleep, dinner, LBP play time etc on a school week.

Thanks CC! I know you will get it all fixed up!

p.s. You are probably aware, but just a mention in case you hadn't that the Creations Link is missing. Thanks again!

Go to your page, and under your picture on the left is a link that says, "Find all posts" Sadly, it currently only shows posts that have been made since the update... so it only shows this post. It has to do with the fact that the search feature is bunged up.

OK... so I was on this thread reading the posts, I was on page 3/4 and clicked to go to page 4, the last page. When I did, I got this:

404
Page not Found
You will be redirected to the home page momentarily

(if you are not redirected, click here).

and was redirected to a site hosting service.

So I clicked my browser's BACK button and tried a different thread page link back here on LBPC and got this:

This webpage has a redirect loop.

The webpage at http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/forum.php?21217-Upgrade-Complete%21 has resulted in too many redirects. Clearing your cookies for this site or allowing third-party cookies may fix the problem. If not, it is possibly a server configuration issue and not a problem with your computer.

Here are some suggestions:
Reload this web page later.

Just bug reporting here - not griping.

EDIT: OK Just came back in from another path and used the "Show first unread post" link and got redirected again to MyDomain.com.

I hope we'll have the old skin back.
We did not remove any features, they are just disabled for now. I'm going to do some testing with each feature to check and see if it works with 4.0. There are a boatload of features that may work regardless of the upgrade, but I cannot be sure and I don't want to damage the integrity of the site until I've had ample time to test it out.

As to the skin, no, we won't have the old one back. We will have a new one, however, one that is much more LBP-ish and familiar.

Hi CC,
Glad to have LBPC back online.

Thanks!

I will look into all of those things and I'll get back to you.

Advanced reply uses the color Names convention, which seems to work well, but it incorrectly repositioning following an edit.1

I'll check into that.

Wow.... I don't like very much this new style...
And i feel bad that the experience is gone...it was, in my humble opinion, one of the coolest feature of this site.

We didn't remove it, we just disabled it. As soon as there's a 4.0-compatible version, we'll upgrade and re-enable, and it'll be like it never went away.

I am rebuilding the search index right now, which should take care of any weird search issues.

I'll add in the Creations link again soon.

Thanks CC for taking the time to do this, that's a lot of work, so we gonna be patient

(Hum... I must edit my sig picture and some others, as the background color changed a little... )

Thanks, CC. I can't thank you, so I'll just have to give an internet hug... *hug*

It seems that a person's recent activity on their profile page actually works now, so that's awesome. Also, I love the layout of the links across the top. Much better than before, even if there's no LBPC banner yet.

Also, I see there's a blank spot on the drop-down menu when you click on a member's name. My vote is to put "view all threads by this person" is that spot.

Hi CC,
Glad to have LBPC back online.

OK, some answers to your questions:

Not now, no. It's possible that'll come with a future update (the profile customization feature is still being worked on by the devs at vB, so it may come with that), but right now it's just there. All we have is the option to remove it completely (and that's site-wide - not user-by-user).
Limit bumped to 10,000 characters.
Social groups have been revamped to resemble threads, so "last post last" is part of those changes. They're now more formal groups, and less of a lightly structured version of a chat room.
Which BB Code tools aren't working?
As mentioned above, profile customization is being redone by the dev team at vB and will come when they are finished with it. Profile customizations will likely remain, though I cannot say for certain.

I personally liked the old style better. But hopefully, it will become better than before.
i have some questions though:
-when will we have all the threads showing on the front page?
-When will this look more LBPish?

Also, the spoiler tags are gone.Lets see if i can remember how theyre done:

Does it work?

Yesh it does!

The new CMS functions differently now. Instead of populating the front page with threads from a single forum, we can now "promote" literally any thread (or even a post within a thread) to the front page without moving the forum it's located in. However, the downside to that change is we have to manually promote threads to the front page, but that's not a big deal. We have changed the Front Page News forum to Official News to fit this change, and we will probably promote 95% of the threads in that forum.
We're doing this in two stages. First, I'm working on getting the forum functioning correctly. Once we're happy with the functionality, I will build upon the (then) current style and create an all new one for LBPCentral. I'm not sure how long this process will take.

In the grand scheme of things this is very VERY minor but it is something strange. On my profile page my avatar shows up in the small version but not the bigger one on top. It's the generic silhouette in gray pic. Is that something wrong with my avatar file or is it the update?2010-01-13 17:17:00

Your avatar and your profile picture are not the same thing. I believe you can find the option to change it on your settings page.

I looked into all three of these issues, and there is nothing that I can find that might be causing it. Your forum permissions are just fine (what forum did you try to create a thread in?), and I tried the quick edit/reply stuff myself, and it worked without a hitch. Any chance this might be your browser? Have you tried clearing your cache?

Social groups have been re-vamped, which includes the discussions behaving more like regular threads. You can now have multiple "discussions" instead of one single chat area. Pretend it's your own private forum - then it will make more sense.
Since rebuilding the search engine, I believe both of these issues have been fixed.

Using Chrome at the most current update in Win/XP, so I dunno if it's my browser. I'll try clearing the cache. I am seeing disparate results with thread positioning though. For instance from the Forums page, if I click on the "Display first unread" link it will open up the thread to the top of that page, but once I'm in the thread, the "display first unread" link that's within the thread (at the top of the page) works perfectly.

As for my ability to create threads - I did not actually try. It just tells me I can't on the footer of the the forums page:

Also, I see that post count is enabled again on posts... though you may remove that. Hm

Also, the rep things. You'll make into crowns again?

Also, please make it so it isn't next to the user title, because now it goes on two lines?

Other then that, Exp. Me needz. Lik, sooooooon. When that's back, THEN it can be considered an upgrade

And the link to the level showcase threads of the user, that used to be under the avatar?

Lots of little fixes have been made, and the front page has been configured. I have installed an addon that will allow us to retain all replies when promoting a thread to the front page, so that they will show up as comments immediately. It's a little fix, but it helps make the forum and front page feel more "integrated". I'm still working on promoting threads to the front page, so we'll have some good content up soon.2010-01-13 21:57:00

Not sure if this is an issue or not, but Reply to thread is no different than quick reply in that you have to Go Advanced to pick up other options like the emoticon list that used to be standard on the old version.

Yes, but it is large enough that it won't get in the way.

I used to easily know of notifications because they were bright and bold but now I can't see them as easily. Will that be updated?

One small thing I like is the avatar reshapements. I hated when an unsquare avatar ruined the consistency of the others.

Other than the EXP thing ( and, of course, the unfinished layout ), I' kinda getting used to this D:

One question I had though. When the new EXP for 4.0 comes out, will it take into account all the posts that we made during the time we don't have it, and give us the points for them?

vB4 = epic awesomesauce. but we need our old style back. I don't like fluid styles imo.

Well, I like fluid. Why not let users decide how large they make their windows, in stead of forcing one width upon everyone?

The crowns are amazing! They're classic too. It's just not something you can change.

I didn't know they were supposed to be crowns, so I say, away with them!

Oh, and Thanks is back! Thanks!

1. Hey CC, will the shop be making a triumphant return in the near future?

I was gonna buy a new member a give away xp for a contest and it hit me....
Does this mean all contests are without xp for the moment?
(On a personal note, hope that doesn't decrease the interest in the caption contest, might have to find a solution )

2. I'm sorry if this was mentioned before but where can I browse through my own posts?

The easiest way is to click the drop down menu under your name while looking at any one of your posts. There's also a link on your profile, but it doesn't include a link to all of your threads.

(I like that quoting doesn't take you to a new page... )

Thanks Comph, the drop down menu doesn't seem to work in the Opera browser with 4.0. but the "show all posts" button on my profile couldn't be more obvious, I need stronger contacts or something.

Well, ok... not bad... but then it also quotes. jess sayin

EDIT: and I wasn't the guy who originally complained about this, I just... oh.. *runs away*

EDIT2:

Oh... now maybe it always did this before and I'm just now noticing it, but I really like the way it handles pics in the posts now.

It resizes without giving that ugly little resize bar along the top of the pic.
If you click on the pic itself, it will open a pop-up window of that pic and allow you to scroll through all the pics in that particular post.

If you hover over either half of the pic it will show navigation options (Left=Prev; Right=Next).

I like it!

Yes it does, but send me the PM regardless and all the XP that was earned in this manner while the product was disabled will be handed out when it is updated.

I think the whitespace is a stylesheet issue. It looks like it is keeping the area left of your sig open, when really it could be collapsed. I'd say there's a good chance this could be solved when the new layout is done.2010-01-14 15:04:00

CC you are a glutton for work... It's coming along nicely I think... shaping up indeed. No knee-jerk reactions here, let's wait and see shall we?

Don't know diddly-squat about how to navigate yet, ( heck, i even had to change my password... couldn't remember it!) but I am pretty well versed in photo-shoppery... so CC- if you need anything created for the upcoming 'new' LBPC skin give me a holler!

I'm glad I read a little before attempting to post... feels *sings!* "just like starting oh-o-ver...."

Yeah, I think I likey... Oh by the way, [LOL] I discovered an antidote to counteract MisterVista acid tones: add (1)One part Lisa, to (1)one part Zwollie-base. Filter unbiased through a vortex. Let stand over-nite, stirring occasionally till ranger equals zero. Repeat post if necessary.

Well, he did spend 100 dollars on it so I'd think he has a good reason to be upset that some features were taken away albeit temporarily.

It REALLY would have been good if we knew what we'd be gaining/losing before asking us for donations. Seems kinda, well, awful to ask for so much money and not tell us that so many features would be lost before some people spent a lot of money on it. Yeah... next time you ask for 500+ dollars, try telling us what we'd gain/lose in the process completely? :/ I know we're getting some back... but we still don't know WHEN this stuff is coming back. So yeah, he kinda has a reason to be upset :/

Always a beacon of light, aren't you?

As has been stated dozens of times, they are working to get everything back up to speed. I understand that you donated a bunch of money for the upgrade, but we have to understand that it can't happen overnight. CC is doing all of this for free, eating up his own free time. Saying that nothing has improved is entirely not true. Yes, we lost some things, but they will be back. Complaining about it won't get it finished any faster, it just adds to the distractions that will slow down the progress.

For one thing, the overall design of the site is much more intuitive. Navigation is easier once you learn where everything is. If you feel you must express your opinions of the update, there are much better ways of doing it than what you have chosen to say here. To condemn the entire upgrade when, in fact, we are still upgrading, is darn-well short-sighted. Patience is a good thing.

@Rock - we didn't have any way of knowing which mods would/wouldn't work with the update until we upgrade. As for the donations, he stated very clearly that it would take time and would be a process. When I donated, I understood this completely. There was absolutely no requirement to donate... it was completely optional.

I'm not talking about the color. I'm talking about the immeasurably useful features like live threads that we lost so we could save an extra five seconds to quote a post. C'mon guys. Let's not make it out to be worse than it is. It's all gonna be revamped, it will just take time. If you want it done faster, find out how and do something. As it is, CC is doing everything on his own, and will obviously take time, he has basic needs too... I'm sure if he didn't eat, sleep, go to college etc. etc. then it could be done faster. But everything will come together eventually. Instead of moaning, be positive and make the place a good place to be, it's the community that make the place good after all, not the aesthetics of the site....2010-01-14 21:50:00

Wow. Dude... Try to be patient. Without the benefit of a BETA period (which would have equated to another set of servers to run in parallel), CC had but one option here: Upgrade and THEN parameterize. I do understand that you donated a significant amount here, and so feel entitled to have your opinion known. I made a sizable donation myself. But honestly, this approach seems senseless and counterproductive to me. Try making constructive suggestions.

OK - To be fair, some of the concerns you have risen may not be fixable, and that's regrettable.

But this...

What's with album pictures? The text is on the left now, unitalicized, and the links are on the right. Completely ugly and uneven.

The other is the amazing amount of white space after each post down to the signature in some cases... maybe just on shorter posts.

Reputation has been moved to under the avatar. Sig space has been fixed - the amount of space allotted for text will always be at minimum 100 pixels. If the text in the post takes up more than that, it will stretch to accommodate with a 25 pixel gap between the bottom of the text and the beginning of the signature. Hopefully this makes things a bit more adaptable.

Apparently photos and quotes no longer count for the 10-character text limit either?

Which, in theory, makes sense - why should photos or quotes count toward the 10-character limit in the first place? The only reason I can see is because it's an inconvenience, which isn't really reason enough when the it just reinforces the existing restriction. Plus, quotes have never counted toward the 10-character limit, so this isn't an "issue" with the new version, it's just an "issue" with vBulletin.

Well, to be honest, there was no way I could know what addons worked and which didn't until we upgraded. There are a few addons that still work just fine albeit being designed for 3.7x, but there are also others (like the old version of the Thanks addon) that would break the site if we enabled it now. The only way to know for sure was to try it out. You're right, though - I should have been more clear about the fact that when a major upgrade to any software is done, additional modifications tend not to work and have to be re-done or replaced.

I agree. That should be fixed now. I completely re-did the way it's displayed, so it looks better. I still need to test it in other browsers, but it should be good. *crosses fingers*

EDIT: I am aware the bottom portion is centered instead of aligned right in Chrome - I know what's causing it (an oddity in Chrome's rendering engine) and I will fix it soon.

Yep, I understood it as well. In my opinion, CC made it extremely clear...

Updated style/layout. At first, we would use the default vBulletin 4.0 skin (which is beautiful, don't get me wrong - check it out (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/forum.php)), but I would custom-design a new skin for LBPCentral, including making it a little more LBP-ish. We'll probably ditch the shiny grey and blue for something with a little more color. I haven't really decided yet. Either way, the layout would be much better on the eyes and much more intuitive.

and

Now, as to the mods/plugins we have installed, I can't guarantee that all of them will stick around. However, I can guarantee that if an updated version or similar mod exists, we will get it working.

Alright, the album view has been improved. I could not get Chrome to behave the way I wanted it to, however, so the bottom list of statistics (author, album, etc) is aligned under the image and to the right instead of all the way to the right when viewing it in Chrome. Minor bug report: I just tried a reply with quote. The quick reply box appeared under the message I was quoting like expected. Then I scrolled down with my mouse wheel to get a better view, and suddenly the area was empty. Just a white space where the reply box had been. So I searched the page for a bit, and found the box on the right of an earlier message, almost entirely off-screen. I can reproduce it in other threads, too.2010-01-15 10:38:00

This may be a bug in the software and, if so, I'll submit a detailed bug report to the vB development team on your behalf. I just need to make sure I can replicate it on my end. Would you mind replying with your browser and version number (Help > About) along with detailed steps that you can follow to recreate the problem?

Yeah, I'm not sure what to do there either. I guess we could just remove the link in the username (so it doesn't link to anything) but I'm not sure if that's a good idea or not.

The first one (hiding ads from donors) I'm doing now. The second suggestion will be added in when we design the new style, so you probably won't see it until the new style is finished.

No problem.

In Internet Explorer 7 (version 7.0.5730.13):

I open a thread (last page of Upgrade Complete! in this case).
I click on Reply With Quote of your last message (it seems any message below #182 will do).
The quick reply form appears under the message.
I scroll down with my mouse wheel, the page moves up and my mouse pointer is over the text field now.
I scroll the mouse down one more tick, the quick reply form disappears. It is now hugging the right of message #182. The same thing happens when I move the mouse pointer or scroll up.

I just noticed the form moves back to its correct location sometimes when I go to a different window and come back. I wouldn't be surprised if it was an Explorer bug, really...

Another bug: I can't seem to rate a thread. The menu opens, I select a rating, click on the vote button, but nothing happens. Can anyone else confirm?

EDIT: And another one: I don't see any adds anymore. Not that I mind all that much, but I don't want the site to go bankrupt.

There's quite a few things I've picked up on but totally forgot so I'll put down the ones I have for the minute.

Firstly you recently added the 'my posts/my threads to the quick link...that would helpful. I'm finding it a bit tedious having to manually get around all the threads.

Not something that you can do anything about...but having our username and notifications right at the top right of the page doesn't make much sense to me in regards to layout. On a number of times I've not noticed I have a notification because it just isn't obvious enough. Now I know it could easily be said that this is just because I'm not used to it...but you do have to consciously look up there to see it, whereas with the old system you couldn't miss it even if you wanted to.

I understand that's not your problem, and more a design error (IMO) on vBulletin, but still thought I'd mention it as it's all part of my experience

Something similar with the 'thanks' under each post. The old system just seemed better, it was more restraint and took up less space, yet somehow clearer than it is now too

EDIT: Yes, I miss the tabs very much! The' PSP' and 'Levels' were very useful!

OK - Here's one that I miss:

On the old version, when I'd use the New Posts search function, it would display all the threads that have new posts at the top, then a line (and I don't recall the exact text: "The following threads have posts that you haven't read, but have not been updated since you were last on line" or something to that effect) that showed me where i could stop because, basically, I had already ignored these threads once, so I can probably ignore them again now. I really liked that feature. Now I just see the whole list with no idea (other than guessing how long it's been since I was on, and doing some quick math on the the last post times) where to stop looking.

Well, there may be some members who leave, and this would be a shame.

Cartman is working extremely hard on ALL OUR BEHALF to get us back up to speed, performing tweaks, fixes and updates FOR US. I think the least we can do is show a little patience and trust in return.

It's probably just me doing something wrong but I made 2 posts in the level showcase this evening and neither of them has a "Thanks" button at the bottom. My browser is Chrome. I wondered if someone could explain why..so I get it right next time, lol!

So, are we waiting for vbexp 4.0 to come out, or have we found a way for 3.8 to work, or are we still waiting? D:

If we get 3.8... we'd still not have the achievements from the latest update, or would we do it as a reward or still waiting for out of beta? :/ Anyway, so any news on vbexp? XD :/

Yes, we are still waiting for it to be updated. He has done versions of it for 3.6x, 3.7x, and 3.8x, so I would be very surprised if he did not do a version for 4.0x. And, on the off chance that he doesn't, it's such a popular mod that someone else would probably come in and pick up development again.

Hey CC - Just noticed something. I opened the Home page on Chrome, Firefox and IE7, and they all had this issue. In the first two articles, theres what looks like an orphaned BB CENTER tag (sorta) next to the icon-style image:

Yeah, I've noticed. It's just an issue with the way the CMS processes code now, but it'll get ironed out soon. There's a whole host of fixes coming in 4.02, which should be here in a week or so.

It is no mess at all, when Kevin mentioned it I just went through tabs and saw the difference, it is less wide than before if I'm not mistaken and now it is also nicely centered so CC is lightningfast.

Thanks CC for all the work done till now!
I'm using Safari and I didn't noticed any problem since you started this.

You narrowed the page size which is good!
It's 950 px wide right now, but maybe a little wider (1000 px) could be better no...?
I would be a little more airy...
(and for example before the upgrade, in my costume thread, there was enough space to put 2 pictures side to side... now just 1 picture...)

It's just a little remark...

Thanks for adding the 'my threads'! Is there no way you can group the entries at all? It doesn't really work quite as well when they're all single, and there's also no way that I'm aware of that you can tell whether the thread has had a new post in it since you last looked or not?

The 'thanks' was perfect how it was before the update in my opinion. Easily noticeable but also quite restraint and not taking up any more space.

Update: it's not happening on my laptop which runs IE8. So it looks like a IE7 problem, and I'm not hunted by personal gremlins!

Ive found a couple, apologies if they have been mentioned before.

I just tried to use the ps3 to login and upload some photos. Firstly, I could'nt login, only the user name box was visible, no password. I had to go into a thread and click reply in order to login. Once I was logged in, I tried to upload photos, and when i clicked the button it returned me to the forum for some reason. I tried this three times with the same result.

The thing with the PS3 browser is that it's awful, I'm talking IE5 bad. If CC were to start making changes to make the site fully accessible for the PS3 browser, we would probably end up changing things that would have negative effects on people using the standard browsers. There wasn't much support for the PS3 before which probably won't change.

I have however noticed some common browsers encountering a few of the issues the PS3 browser is having, such as the login bar problem, and I imagine when these are ironed out we'll see a rise in the functionality of the PS3 browser too.

What's going on with 'posting permissions'? It says in mine I may not post new threads. It also doesn't mention that I can delete my old threads which I could before.I should be able to do anything as I bought the ultimate bundle ages ago.

Another thing I've just noticed is the preset posts ( can't remember the proper name for them ) where you could have lists of standard replies or greetings etc. seem to have disappeared.

Posting Permissions are forum-specific, and they've always been there (even before the update). It says you cannot post threads because you viewed the Posting Permissions box in the Site Updates forum, in which you may not post threads. It does not specify all abilities, either, so just because it doesn't say you can't delete your threads doesn't mean you can't. It's just a quick-reference for those who aren't sure what they are allowed to do in a specific forum.

Hey guys, just wanted to reassure everyone that I've not been taking a break. I've been working all day (with the help of mrsupercomputer's fantastic web design skills) fixing issues and designing the new style. I will not be making any more changes to the style you all are using - instead, any and all changes will be made to the style that is currently in development, and you guys will see those changes take effect once we are finished.

It may, but I can't guarantee anything. A big part of the 4.0 upgrade was a new design philosophy (less clutter, easier to navigate), so it's likely that some features were changed drastically or even removed as an attempt to reach that goal. It may also be a bug, in which case it will be fixed sooner rather than later.

I've given thanks to more or less everyone that's commented on the latest Creator Spotlight, but the thanks have disappeared. Seems the same for everyone else, too, including on Cartman's opening post. There are no thanks anymore.

Edit: I found a slight disagreement with some of what I presume to be the standard Vbulletin code. The picture in my signature links to the Logic Pack forums, but when viewed in the forums, it wants to link to pop-up of the image itself. When I view the image from my profile or from the preview of my signature it links just fine to the Logic Pack forums. Not a huge deal, just kinda weird.
