New levels! New trophies! Water!! Pirates of the Caribbean pack!

Media Molecule have finally listened. New trophies have just appeared for the game, indicating a follow-up to the epic Metal Gear Solid DLC Level Pack. Cast your precious eyes on the following water-based Trophies for the moment you platformer fans have been waiting for:

Bronze

* PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN Booty Master:
Collect all of the PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN Prize Bubbles
* Beast Slayer:
Destroy the KRAKEN Boss
* Ace Port Royal:
Ace Port Royal
* Ace Pirate Town:
Ace Pirate Town
* Ace The Frigate:
Ace The Frigate
* Ace Cursed Bay:
Ace Cursed Bay
* Ace The Kraken!!!:
Ace The Kraken!!!
* Tributary:
Publish a Level Using WATER
* Salty Dog:
Complete 20 Community Levels that use WATER

Silver

* The Bends:
Achieve a score of 7000 in the Diving for Treasure Survival Challenge
* HMS Interceptor:
Complete the race in Cursed Bay with at least 4000 Points left on the clock

So it seems that MM will be treating us soon to some Pirates of the Caribbean goodness. What better choice to go along with the new gameplay mechanic of water? I personally can?t wait, but downloading all the patches is bound to be a pain! Still, at least finally we?re getting some new levels for this gem of a game ? I can?t wait to see how Media Molecule will be using water in the levels, but knowing them, it's bound to be brilliant.

I dunno, I'm guessing it will be soon, but not that soon. We have just started another phase of the beta, which will likely be the final build, but I don't see why they would bother with a final phase unless there were at least a couple of weeks until proper release. New year is my bet.

From what I remember, the MGS trophies appeared a couple of weeks before it was released.

Also don't forget with the MGS pack there was some content in levels we couldnt use until a later date like global lighting so there could be stuff in this thats ok for play but needs more testing before a create release.2009-12-10 14:39:00

Sigh. I'm not even remotely a fan of Pirates of the Caribbean, but it looks like there's no avoiding buying this pack.

It was the same with MGS (and in fact most DLC with trophies). The trophies come, then an announcement. Expect Mm to say something within the next few days.





Also, was just reading through some comments about today's store update on the PS Blog. Somebody asked when this would be released and the response was "No news yet", but obviously they've got to say that before it's officialy announced.

Of more interest is this:


We?re not actually publishing on Christmas Eve this year, our last update of the year will be on Tuesday the 22nd of December.

So if water isn't coming next Thursday, I bet it will be on 22nd.		2009-12-10 15:05:00

Are you suggesting they have released trophies for the Pirates pack, with one or two teaser trophies hidden in there that matches thematically but won't actually be obtainable at the same time as the other trophies as the content to do so is not actually in the thematically matching DLC?

But there's a trophy for publishing a level with water.

The global settings tool was only a minor thing too, it wasn't the main new gameplay feature of the MGS pack. They wouldn't release levels with water without releasing water as well. 		2009-12-10 15:27:00

Well they have deadlines to work to. They probably planned months and months ago to release this for Christmas (assuming they are going to release it for then). It wouldn't matter if there's any bugs that still need to be fixed - they have to release it anyway.		2009-12-10 15:54:00

Well if they're going to be costumes, What woud there be? There's jack...ofcourse (couldn't help it ) Davy Jones (tentacle beard FTW!), Will Turner (doesn't sound like that will be good), Elizabeth swan (Sounds like it'll just be like Ada's dress) and....uh what would be the 5th? I feel the same about the Pirates Of The Caribbean comment. Not a huge fan myself. It seems like it will be piratey, which I've got no interest in at all D:
Oh well, it should still have some great levels no doubt, though I am dissapointed that water seems like it will be something you pay for. I was kinda hoping it would be like Creator Pack 1. Still, I look forward to it. But with no PS3 in uni, and little time ti play PS3 at xmas with work, uni work,seeing gf and mates I don't see much point in me buying this 		2009-12-10 16:55:00

Being a girl, I'm not a fan of MGS, either, but those levels turned out fantastic, and the materials/items that came with that pack were extremely useful, so I have faith that this pack will not disappoint, even though I am not a fan of the pirates franchise.

I really like the wood materials in the game, too. I like building houses, so more of that would be great. There are actually a lot of really cool possibilities. Perhaps some sort of sand material? Perhaps sails to put on a pirate ship, or a Jolly Roger flag decoration. Seriously, like pirates of the caribbean or not, it could be REALLY cool. Anyways, you can't argue that Pirates isn't a perfect fit for water. Even if you don't like Pirates of the Carribbean, just ignore the story and assume it's new LBP Pirate levels. I'm super excited!!

But when it comes to Mm-made levels involving water? I'm almost positive the outcome will be very good.

No, in every game it's only the original trophies that come with the game that you need in order to get, and keep the platinum.

And yes, you still should be able to get the new trophies, unless you are specifically getting a message at the begining of the game telling you otherwise.		2009-12-10 18:49:00

Let's also hope that it won't start with a horrible level, and then be followed up by a great level that will get our hopes back up only to be followed by another subsequent horrible level.

So, if we are to accept this, then

Great/Moderate/Horrible would be bad, as would Horrible/Great/Horrible ...

...

Might it not be more to the point just to say "Let's hope the levels are good"? This seems like an absurdly specific thing to "hope against". Like hoping that the second switch you have to pull in level 3 doesn't come unglued half the time.		2009-12-10 19:03:00

I'm in a similar situation with having moved my file to a new system, if trophies don't work I'm going to delete the save get the trophies on a new file then copy the old file back.

The only way I've found to lose trophies is playing an old game on the new system for the first time, the way some games install their trophy data overided the existing list on the system. Fortunatly syncing with the server brings them all back.		2009-12-10 19:18:00

Trophies are linked to your PSN ID so you can't lose them. If new trophies are added but you already have platinum you keep it, because the additional trophies are limited to DLC thus it would unfair towards those who don't want or can't buy DLC.
For instance I've had to replace my PS3 a couple of times and didn't copied my Burnout Paradise save, but I still had the trophies everytime I started the game again. With all the DLC out I know have a platinum trophy but only around 50% of the trophies available.

your not alone, I had a break from lbp for a few days and now this. Could be better than PoTC. Since MGS was a big part for the ps3, I thought that was why it was made such a big pack. After the first installment, in anticipation of the second--you could not have a hotter property than 'Pirates'. Albeit the second and third were somewhat disappointing to varying degrees... there is no deny the 'Brand' is topnotch first quality! I still hope for the day when we get a general pack. Something that takes site f no brand or well known thing of any kind. Holy crap! If MM took a stand like that, it would be amazing, but sadly that would divide the community. Many, many people enjoy bomb-survival levels (the younger audience), so they wouldn't like it very much.

It wasn't their fault their level idea was stolen and spammed in many different forms of cheese, women and excrements.

Also on talk of the water, I failed entirely on the beta involving water, I made half a puzzle level and gave up. Not because it was hard, because I was lazy and a not that good a creator. But I did make a Jesus level, putting thin dark matter on top of the water, good times.

I am delighted! I love POTC, it will make the water update much sweeter for me. I do hope it has as much content, if not more, than the Metal Gear pack. I can see the Music being the POTC movie theme, the Davey Jones organ Song, and the theme park ride's song "Yo Ho" as an interactive song. That would make that POTC ride recreation I played much sweeter than the Monster pack music.

Now I know this is asking for a bit much, but wouldn't it be sweet if part of the pack included sackboy skin, materials, or stickers that changed appearance in a certain kind of light, like the Black Pearl, and the Cursed pirates in the first movie? ...or a switch that can reveal something. I dont thik so because when MGS came out it was boasting the new feature. (Paintinator)

The side stuff like the GLT that came out in creator pack one wasn't the main feature of the pack.

Say the pack is going to be 5.95.

Just think about that for a second... When you buy the pack, you get water with it anyway.

Even if MM put this level pack out and the water separate for free, it would still total the same in your eyes...
Think about it.

Water + POTC = 5.95

POTC Only = 5.95
Water = 0.00

Still totals 5.95.

It then would be logical just to get the who lot together rather than waiting on tools, that you essentially need to get the whole Water experience.

Anyway, I agree with rtm223. The only reason the Paintinator was in the MGS pack was because it wasn't really BIG big. It was a character enhancement. This is water we're talking about. Just like the Global Lighting Tool was in the Creator Pack, Water and the 256 character max for Magic Mouths, along with others, will be in a Creator Pack while stuff like decorations and costumes will be in the Pirates pack, alongside the music pack and the relevant materials.

I'm fairly positive the story will do with H4Hing and Davy Jones and his heart... will make the most sense, plus H4Hing will have been around a while so they could know it was a problem methinks.

Only certain objects (the ones with glowing purple/pink parts) can be moved with the wand. You'll notice the cursor turns red when it's pointed anywhere else.		2009-12-12 00:23:00

It's only a problem if you go near the bottom though. The best current backgrounds for water are porbably the cave and the blank background, because there's no buildings or trees and stuff being flooded.

All I'm saying is...
-is it confirmed that Water will be out soon? No.
-but chances are very high that it will be.
1. Someone from Sony saying they want to release it soon.
2. MGS pack came out last year pretty at the same time.

Being a girl, I'm not a fan of MGS, either, but those levels turned out fantastic, and the materials/items that came with that pack were extremely useful, so I have faith that this pack will not disappoint, even though I am not a fan of the pirates franchise.
