I just played the most remarkable level and had to wander over to this forum to share. It's a very short level...almost like a tech demo...but it's remarkable. Somebody actually pulled off Portal mechanics in Little Big Planet. Yes, you actually shoot entry and exit portals!!!! Just search for "Portal Project", or it might even still be on cool levels.

Level is a complete ripoff man. He copied that idea from cykelpumpen. He could have at least given credit to the guy. Still a dope concept nonetheless

its very very difficult to tell if a level is ripped or not, sometimes you recognize the templet, but other times.. you really like the level, and find out 2 months later it wasnt an original. ive seen people "ripping" my caterpiller, my "nightmares in darkness" style level and even its gameplay elements.

Yeah complete ripoff. I'm seeing a lot of rips these days. Saw a Simplexity rip off, plenty of Anti-color rip offs, this one takes the cake though. He acts like he built the whole concept..when Cyclepumpen made his level months ago and we've been discussing teleportation for just as long.

Yeah is this the portal level on front page? Told the guy that it needs work and he was like 'wha?' Seriously, I told him to limit it to 1 portal at a time and he said '1 portal?'. I think it was Rainfire or someone who asked me to make a portal level back when teleportation was all the rage and I said I wouldn't do it because I didn't want to have a bunch of tacky panels all over the place. So my secret way of doing it is still secret

Lol. So now there is an IOU for credit on everything people invent and even proceed to explain to other people? That's a good one. This new portal guy would be a credit-whore only if he took the idea and declared it his own. Perhaps he really found it himself independently, but even that's not really the point. The point is, at least somebody is doing something with a cool idea after 'the rage' is over. To be clear about it: I don't think this guy declares this portal-thing his own. He just doesn't say he got it from elwhere, which is fine by me. Though it's so short, it's also the first time I see gameplay-potential in this portal thing. I personally think shooting portals is brilliant.

Dude, play cykelpumpens level..then play his. It's like plagarism. It's not so much the copying the concept...it's the fact that he couldn't even come up with an original way to implement it, so he made a copy of someone else's level. Same thing with this simplexity rip-off. He has this level that looks and does the exact same stuff as simplexity, it's a cheap knock off...a copy. But they fail to acknowledge the original. Honestly, ideas and concpts are one thing. But blatantly copying and not giving credit is an entirely different beast.

OK, fair enough. I didn't know there already existed an identical, well, portal-the-game rendition. I tought his' was the first portal-the-game take on the portal-trick.

I found one called 'Portal Concept' or something. It didn't really work very well though because of glitches. They stuck 2 car spoilers onto the front of the spinning paintainator (didn't know at first) and I thought they'd hacked it to make a new gun or something, untill of course I equiped it and it was just a normal paintainator. Was this the same level as 'The Portal Project'?

I know what it's like though, there have been TONS of knock-offs of my Cause And Effect levels, but this one guy really ripped mine off. It's practically the same but with slight variations and in a different order. He also rips off ZX497's levels, he can't even think of his own level descriptions. he copies those too. Most annoying is that his crap levels get on Cool Levels page 1, with people commenting on how original and great they are...

I think we just need to start spamming copies of good levels of which we know the original creators and include massive banners saying who originally made them. Eventually one will reach the front page and everyone will know.
