New info on Cornish Yarg update
Archive: 79 posts
It's been a while since we last gave an update about upcoming changes to LittleBigPlanet so here's what we've got in the pipeline. First and foremost is the 1.12 game update otherwise known as Cornish Yarg. This update addresses several outstanding issues with the game : - There is a new music player which lets players choose their own music from the XMB to play during create mode and in their Pod - Improved decoration mode makes it easier to customise your Sackboy - New options to help prevent profiles becoming full of unwanted community objects: ? Option to delete all (unhearted) community objects and photos ? Option to select whether to automatically collect community prizes and photos - A number of improvements have been made to make profiles more robust and to recover from certain errors - We now support Japanese and Korean IME for text chat. - Emitter prediction has been improved (this should help fast-moving projectiles e.g. in MGS levels) - The player proximity switch now has a ?require all? option in it - An option has been added to cycle between various level information when viewing community levels on the earth - Various LittleBigStore improvements We don't yet have a fixed release date for this update, but it has now finished primary development so won't be too much longer. Additional fixes, particularly for online connection reliability and save game/profile size problems are already well into development and we'll bring you more news on that just as soon as possible. In the meantime we've lots of new content coming up for download, and you can find the details of all the latest content here. EDIT: He posted again..... To add some timing context to this, the 1.11 update, which contains content only, is due for release next week (I'll update if this timing changes). Cornish Yarg is a little after that release, but I'll give a better timeline once it's looking concrete. Source (http://forums.littlebigworkshop.com/lbp/board/message?board.id=pod&thread.id=45900) SECOND EDIT(thanks to Entity): Hello everyone, we have some very exciting news and I can?t wait to tell you all about it! My apologies for the delay, we have been working very hard for the last few months to get our new patch codenamed Cornish Yarg ready for release, and trust us on this?it's been epic! There are some very exciting new features that we can?t wait to get out to everyone, including: * A super awesome set of 5 new tutorials in ?Create Pack 1?! These tutorials unlock some lovely new creative tools to play about with and help you make even cooler levels. The new tools are as follows: o Infinite lives checkpoint o Visibility tweak option on certain joint objects (to hide these in Play mode) o Global settings object (to trigger lighting changes) o Tetherless jetpack o Angle range proximity switch (additional functionality on proximity and magnetic key switches) * IME text chat support for Korean and Japanese * Some nifty profile managing tools and menus for better profile management when receiving community objects and photos. * A very sleek music player which is available to use while in create mode, meaning you can listen to your own MP3s while you make! * Advanced Sackboy customisation mode to help you decorate all those hard to reach places * Anton?s sweated blood to try to fix the level loading issues some of you may have experienced, so if you have a broken level, why not give it another go? So?we have just entered the final stages of testing where we?ll need to get the official stamp of approval before releasing it into the wild?so hold tight, it?ll be with everyone very soon. | 2009-03-26 17:20:00 Author: wexfordian Posts: 1904 |

Claaassss... I'm really happy about the music in create mode. But the improved level information and the bigger profiles + community objects options are a saviour! About the five new levels in "Create Pack 1"... Hm, wonder what exactly that will be :/. Like, the MGS levels were for showing what can be done with the paintinator... not too sure how they can demonstrate much of that stuff to streamline creation in a purely play enviroment... | 2009-03-26 21:13:00 Author: RockSauron Posts: 10882 |

Sam replied to some of the questions over at LittleBigWorkshop (http://Re: LittleBigPlanet Development Update - Cornish Yarg Details Options): Re: LittleBigPlanet Development Update - Cornish Yarg Details Options Sam_Protagonist You have questions... here come the answers : How does the improved decoration mode for Sackboy work? - Without being too specific, you can now get the little fella to stand still and turn on the spot, making it far easier for you to create custom outfits. Will the changes to profiles fix all the save issues? (a slightly paraphrased question) - The changes should help a lot of people who are currently experiencing problems, however it is only part of the range of fixes for these problems that is being worked on. While we're optimistic that many of the problems will be resolved, we cannot guarantee that every save or profile related issue will disappear. Is the news on MediaMolecule.com about the Creator Pack accurate? - Yes it is, however this information was not due to be released until next week when we had all the details about the pack. They wanted to give a sneak peak into the full details of the pack we're planning to release next week (as it is very cool). The question of whether it will cost anything or not will be addressed with the full announcement. _________________________________ Senior Community Development Manager | 2009-03-26 23:28:00 Author: BurlapSackBoy Posts: 310 |

That is a pretty big thing if you ask me that we can hide all the workings now. WOO indeed I will now make costumes!! Now they need to let people exchange their saved costumes and put them in prize bubbles. . I have been wondering why they haven't let us share costumes as well. I just noticed, the named the tutorial levels 'Create Pack 1!', they didn't just call it Create Pack, they put a 1 on the end, that probably means theres going to be more! I wonder what those will be like. | 2009-03-28 05:30:00 Author: Kog Posts: 2358 |
It sounds as though they're going to be charging for this "Create Pack"...not sure how I feel about that, although I'm excited to be getting new tools to play around with, plus new tutorials!! (more Stephen Fry is always a good thing) But I guess this means I need to figure out how to buy something off PSN, since they haven't released PSN cards in Australia yet. And no, I haven't bought the MGS level pack yet... *runs off into a corner to cry* | 2009-03-28 06:59:00 Author: CheesyMcFly Posts: 211 |

i have a funny feeling it will follow the host :S which absolutly suuuuuuuuckks, its impossible 2 get anything done with 2 people offline simply because of camera issues | 2009-03-31 11:21:00 Author: talmasca Posts: 196 |

About the online co-op editing, the only good thing about this imho is this: If you or a friend has problem with his switch setups, or something goes wrong in the level a more experienced person can come and hopefully help you solve the problem. and that would be a huge pro!, this could result in lbpcentral people would work together more, resulting in a tighter community! | 2009-03-31 12:26:00 Author: Luos_83 Posts: 2136 |
i have a funny feeling it will follow the host :S which absolutly suuuuuuuuckks, its impossible 2 get anything done with 2 people offline simply because of camera issues Do we have any reason to believe it will only follow the host? Does the camera only follow the host when playing online as well? I'm asking because I seriously don't know... Surely, they've thought about this and have sorted it out. Online create will be next to pointless without the camera following each sackboy individually... | 2009-03-31 14:39:00 Author: supersickie Posts: 1366 |
lets hope that there will be individual camera's | 2009-03-31 14:54:00 Author: Luos_83 Posts: 2136 |

split screen offline ye, but not online. just give us **** seperate camera's for online I suspect their engine not being to handle such things. Splitscreen means people being able to go each at their ends of the level. This means the engine would calculate a truckload more things (physics, graphics, etc) and since we can already create slowdown easily with only one screen by adding a couple of lighting calculations, having a splitcreen with 2 people messing around would prbably crash the whole thing as it is now. Online seperate camera is probably doable. It doesn't take power to do that. . | 2009-03-31 17:02:00 Author: RangerZero Posts: 3901 |
- A number of improvements have been made to make profiles more robust and to recover from certain errors Thank God, because I've had a couple of problems just loading up LBP. I'm not sure if I'm the only one who has this, but sometimes whenever I start up the game the screen turns red and says that I need to clear my pod in order to advance, simply by pressing X. This fails miserably because my Playstation then crashes and I have to restart the console, which truly and utterly sucks. But if they manage to fix this then I will be very happy indeed, and yes I'm certain that it isn't the disk that's wrong nor the save file so... Anyway, as for the rest of the updates that come with this package, I am very pleased with the changes and additional elements that they are going to add, especially the new options to delete unwanted community objects. My profile is amazingly full of crap right now it's unbelievable... xD | 2009-03-31 20:51:00 Author: KoRnDawwg Posts: 1424 |
