Good or Evil?

Archive: 17 posts

Everyone seems to love the games that let us pick or path, and why not... who doesn't love being that sith lord or that sweet savior?

What to do you choose in KotR, Fable, Fallout, or Oblivion? Good two shoes gallant knight or shadow stalker murder you for fun vampire?

I always play through first time evil... call me sadistic but I love being something that isnt normally accepted in day to day life. Nothing like going on a half hour guard killing spree in fable. Can't beat telling a child to find his own home in fallout.

I always play as the good guy, and try not to use lethal force unless I have to.

Ridiculous, since it's all just dots on a screen, but I feel more immersed that way.

I always play though as goodie two shoes first. My Oblivion character is as good as good gets which is nice but in an alternate universe (different save set I have) She's a really nasty baddie with the occasional need to contract vampirisim.

In Mirror's Edge I'm trying not to shoot anyone either. Just my personality I think. Too nice sometimes.

You know me. I'm usually always the good guy. But in Oblivion I can't help but wanting to steal everything and killing hobos or random people lol... And being a vampire. I also enchanted the first blades sword they gave me and named it the "hobo killer"2009-03-25 20:59:00

This may be a surprise to some (lol yeah right), but I usually am a good guy in video games.

Um... helps to make me live someone else's life... yeah, that's it...

I always play as the good guy but if I have to do a bit of evil to finish a quest I'll do it. So towards the lighter side of grey I guess.

The character I'm playing with in Oblivion at the minute is head of the DB guild and Thieves' guild but I did KotN so I have 0 infamy. Also if there's something really bad that I want to do I'll use a certain item so I don't get the infamy.

And then if I'm replaying I'll be the bad guy to do any quests that I need to be bad to do and then try to be good again.

I'm obviously not the best role-player in the world. I just can't pass up opportunities for fun! EG. My character should be reported for the amount of abuse I've given Shadowmere. Er... not that that's fun, just good for levelling up...

Nah just level-up Hand-to-hand and Blunt by taking my axe or fists to him. :kz: I use a blade the rest of the time.

I will always have my first serious playthrough as the good side. I simply feel ENORMOUSLY more rewarded that way.

Usually good, since Evil is often written as "Stupid evil".
Why go through the effort of murdering an innocent, getting a wanted status and being hounded by law enforcement when you can save the innocent and get an appropriate reward for less effort in the long run.

However, if a game writes an evil character well (Planescape Torment, Jade Empire, Fallout 1 & 2) I often end up enjoying an evil run through the game.

I have a total white knight complex. I have a need to save every one, and be as humane as possible.2009-03-26 08:46:00

I'm pretty much always good. It just does not feel right to be on the "side of evil". In fact there have been some games that I don't play as the only choice you have is a violent sociopath, criminal or robber. I've never played the Grand Theft Auto series as the idea of going around committing crimes and being rewarded for it is just plain stupid to me. I've also questioned the morals of games like Uncharted, but you would need to see that thread for that off topic discussion.

I do try the evil things in moral grey games sometimes, like Fallout or Oblivion, but apart from story advancement or the challenge I just can't justify it morally. Why do you need to kill people apart from self defence, even in a video game? For fun is a bad reason to me, and it rarely feels like "fun".

Basically, I play the good guy. If my only option is a villian or person forced to dark grey, it could be a good reason for me to shy away from the game entirely.

I usually walk a fine line between the two. I'll play the game within the law as it's usually more acceptable, but I have no problem when it comes down to me or someone else. Gaming is serious business. 2009-03-26 15:37:00
