Prize bubble overload! Rant away!

Archive: 22 posts

Ok. I like the fact that you can create your own objects and make them into prizes...but come on.

I have collected so many objects and had so many pictures taken of myself that about every 2 days the message pops up telling me that I have too many objects and have to delete some. This is very irritating.

I'm not going to ask that people stop putting objects in their levels. That's just stupid. But I will ask, for any that are listening, please don't put prize bubbles in your levels of things I already have. For example, someone took the paintinator and put stickers on it and made it a prize. I HAVE A PAINTINATOR! I had 5 different versions of the jet cheetah with different stickers on it. I already own a jet cheetah! I don't need a black one or a tiger striped one!

Ok, rant over. I'm sorry I'm so upset, but it's been driving me nuts. I'm also sorry if someone already started a thread about this, but I didn't see one.

If there's anything that's been bothering any of you, post it in this thread. We can make it a catch all complaint thread if need be.

There should be an option that pops up asking you if you want to keep the prize when you collect it. Of course, you can just avoid prize bubbles but quite often you hit them by accident.2009-03-23 01:30:00

Ug, I made the mistake of playing one of those once...once.

What gets me is most of the "win 300+ prizes" levels get 4+ star ratings. Who keeps rating them so high?!?

I hate prize bubbles that I can't clearly avoid and I hate prizes in the leaderboard pad.

But you know what I hate even more? The freaking photoboot. I HAAAATE it really. It just clutter you profile with photos YOU NEVER WANT.

If ever, one day, by any chance, when extremely bored, I almost think about maybe wanting a souvenir from any of your levels then i'm gonna use the **** photo tool and take a low-res uninteresting and useless picture myself.

/rant

I've actually gotten a Magnetic Key from a Prize Bubble before >_> The stupid part is that you can't even attach it to anything.

Also, I've discovered the polar opposite of Prize Levels: Key Levels.

I think prize bubbles are a nice addition if used correctly. You shouldn't be forced to take them to continue through a level. They should simply be released by a grab switch if you want the item.2009-03-23 13:02:00

I hate the ones that I'm forced to get. Sometimes I quit the level just before the scoreboard if I think I'm going to get a stupid prize.2009-03-23 14:59:00

I always do it. Id prefer not to play the level than have to go to my moon just to delete all the objects.

To be honest, I actually like some of the prizes - sometimes people give things away that are complicated to make, or use a process that I was unaware of, and so are useful to learn from.

Sometimes people do give away pap (actually a lot of the time) though, I don't mind deleting the stuff - it doesn't take that long to clear out the lists.

It would be nice if the prize bubbles didn't add to the score.

Well, I hope you guys will finish my levels to the scoreboard if you play them. I removed ALL the prizes and make a golden rule of never putting any and anywhere.

The only thing you get at the end of each of my levels is a custom sticker to boost your score in my other levels.

I know, I mean, have you seen the highest rated section? Only about 5 proper levels in there!

The problem is there's soooo many more junk prizes than there are really good ones. I found a level that's got a bunch of old nintendo characters as prizes and they are very good. I kept those. But the 30 different vehicles I've picked up...those are trashed. The problem is the only way to know what I'm getting is by picking them up and taking my chances, or by taking the prizes if the item shows up in the level and I like what I'm seeing. If there was an optional function to pick and choose at the end of the level what prizes I take, or if there was a function in my moon to delete multiple items, this wouldn't be an issue.

Oh well...

I've noticed that it's generally bad levels that dump you with 3 crappy prizes when you finish the level. If it's a good level I'll go to the scoreboard.

I try to put a couple of the things I build into my levels. I try not to go more than 4 or 5 nowadays because I agree it's a pain to keep having to delete them. In future I may not just leave them laying around my levels anymore based on the comments here. I guess I figured if it was a reasonable amount of prize bubbles and they weren't MM or other level rip-offs it would be kind of cool. Am I wrong?2009-03-24 02:40:00

Yeah, I hate HAVING to grab prizes, that's why i rather hide them, if you want them look for them, if not just keep going.
And out of all the lame prizes there are, the ones i hate overall are the Platinum/golden/silver/bronze trophies, now why in the world would i want that? they're not even well made! And i don't think i could find a way to use hem in a level.
Sadly there are too many people putting these as unavoidable/end of the level prized. seriously, i've had to delete those like 220 timeas each already :/

I gave away the switches and items (a helecopter, crane and gun turret) I created in one of my levels, I put them in sight, but out of the players path so its your choice if you collect them or not. I thought most of them were useful.

I got a prize today, a "military base" that was the tin can bunker from the MGS pack, full of point bubbles. I mean, I could have created that myself in 2 seconds flat!

There really should be an option when you start the level to remove all prize bubbles so you dont have to jump over and generally avoid them, it would help problems at the scoreboard to.

There have been very few "prizes" that I consider a prize. Lite_Sleeper's text was one of them. Another was Kanji (although I just may delete them). The rest have been less than inspiring. The stuff I want people don't give away.

This is why I make my levels copyable. You want anything there? Take it. Have fun and knock yourself out.

A prize, by definition, is something you want. Most people don't offer anything I want.
