Well... here I am!

Archive: 43 posts

Hi everyone-

At long last, I finally got around to setting up my LBP Central account. So... hello there!

There will probably be at least a few people here who recognize me from the GameFAQs LBP forums. I have been doing level reviews for quite a while now and made a lot of friends - Maraz_Matari in particular is responsible for getting me here.

I got my copy of LBP in early November and I have been hopelessly hooked ever since. I currently have three published levels with another few in the works. I am too picky for my own good, and it seems to take me at least a month to publish a level... I guess that means I prefer quality over quantity.

In any case, it's good to be here, and I'm looking forward to getting involved in doing some level reviews. See you around the boards!

Thanks! Great to see you here.

I'm looking forward to posting some reviews here. I've got a heck of a backlog still at GFAQs, but I'm working on it. For the first time in a while I actually have a plan to get caught up.

Lunch? Sounds great. I'll have the turkey head costume sandwich with a side of seaweed decoration salad. Oh, and some Valentine's day chocolate bar material for dessert.2009-03-23 08:16:00

Whats wrong with GameFAQs? Just curious.

Welcome welcome, reviewers are always welcome, if they give hearts.

Hello and welcome! ... Good to see you'll be doing reviews here now! Your thread was going on gamefaqs for a long time!

Fjonan, who asked what was wrong with gamefaqs: I don't know that anything is wrong with it, except the board is all but dead, and most of the devout lbpers have come here.

Hi dk! Great to see you. Yeah, looks like a lot of GFAQ'ers are here.

@ Fjonan

I'm a long time GFAQs user and still have a lot of loyalty there, but the main problem with those forums is the overwhelming and never-ending flood of things like H4H threads and content "sharing" requests (e.g., Kratos codes). It's not GFAQs per se, it's just the type of person who visits the site. There's a larger percentage of people looking for cheats/loopholes and fewer people who are genuine fans of the game and associated community.

There's nothing wrong with that. I go to GFAQs all the time for things like cheat codes... say for the code to unlock all the quickplay songs on Guitar Hero World Tour. That type of activity would make a true Guitar Hero fan scream and throw his/her laptop out the window, the same way a H4H level makes me feel.

Coming the long way around to make my point, GFAQs has its niche, and so does LBPC. I choose to be here so that I can be part of a dedicated LBP community site and interact with other true fans of the game and not those only interested in trophies. Both sites are good in their own particular ways, but LBPC seems to be more my cup of tea.

Hey kappa! Good to see you here as well. Yes, my GFAQs thread did go on a long time.... and is still going on. I don't think I'm *ever* going to finish all those reviews! Ugh. I should really just call in sick one day and knock out the remaining 48 reviews all at once.

It's fun doing them but talk about overwhelming... I never expected to have that many requests and that much of a backlog.

The problem with Gamefaqs imo is that there are far too many H4Hers, and too few people like Boldrin, Taffey, Maraz_Matari2009-03-23 20:53:00

Thanks also dorien. I certainly like what I see so far, and everybody is great here. World domination is fine by me - I'm here to help. Oh hey, maybe that can be LBPC's new tagline: "Taking over the world, one sack at a time." :kz:

Welcome to the site! I haven't been around GameFAQs much myself, but from what I've seen, it's definitely got it's own uses. We've both got our upsides and downsides, but for the dedicated LittleBigPlanet fan, I definitely think we've got the most to offer in terms of community and content. In any case - welcome, and enjoy yourself. 2009-03-24 04:28:00

Hey Cartman - I appreciate the warm welcome, and I do have to say I'm impressed with the site. There's some great features here, but of course my favorite thing has to be the custom smilies.

On a side note... It's nice to see a fellow Californian around.

I live near Santa Clara University, off of Lafayette...... which is fairly close to the airport.

For what it's worth I've been to Germany a bunch of times (and always loved it).

I took a couple years of German in school as well, but at this point I don't even think I could order a bratwurst.

Actually, one thing I do remember is that beer/Bier is pronounced mostly the same. A very important (and convenient) fact.2009-03-24 16:50:00

Welcome welcome, reviewers are always welcome, if they give hearts.

Its basically died a death over there, it is (and was) filled with H4H topics and gametrading threads, people take over there and give little back to you, unlike here.

Welcome again Taffey, you're so good I welcomed you twice :-)

Now get your review thread setup here, it was the best on the "other place" ;-)

A double welcome? I really do feel special now. And hey! I've moved up from "lint" to "thread". I hope to someday become a rope. If that's out of the question, I'll settle for "patch of cloth".

I'll get my reviews going here eventually... Actually, I'm looking forward to the review league format. Spreading the workload around means I might even be able to spend time in create mode again!

Haha, if there is anything you will always get here, its beer.

There is a very famous TV advertisment with 3 Indian guys sitting in a "Biergarten" (beer garden, dunno if this makes sense abroad, it is basically a pub with an outside area in the green) and one guy says to the waitress (I translate) "I do not want to purchase that carpet" while looking in his dictionary. The waitrass nods and walks away and comes back with 3 beers. The Indian guy is pretty proud of himsel being able to order a beer.

So ... if anything ... you can get a beer here

Oh and, I triple welcome you, if you set up your reviews here, too. I wanna see thous infamous reviews of yours.

Haha, if there is anything you will always get here, its beer.Ah, Germany. I miss it there. I could really go for some Spaetzle now too, but I haven't been able to find any good German restaurants in the area.

Love the ad - very funny. It reminds me of my first trip to Munich... I was trying to find the Hofbrauhaus and had to ask some guy for directions, but I totally screwed up the phrase. I probably said, "I love squirrels in my beer?" or something. He understood the "Bier" part of it though and showed me the way himself... and he ended up having a beer there as well.

Enjoy the forums I already am! Great people around here.... Very nicely set up forums too.

Hey if you really want, I could send you some Sp?tzle. No joke. I just don't know if the US allows me to send food. Heidenheim is in the middle of south Germany and this is the homeland of Sp?tzle . I also just work an hour away from Munich.2009-03-25 23:06:00

Hi Taffey, looks like you've made a great impression already!

Nice to see you on the forums.

Ever been to the UK? You'd be blown away by the weather. Literally! It's a little windy here right now :s

Anyway.. I'm looking forward to trying out your levels. =)

I also just work an hour away from Munich.I might actually resort to that. I found a couple decent German restaurants in Portland last year with pretty good Sp?tzle, and there's a halfway respectable one in Denver I've been to as well. Hmm... I think I'll renew the search in my town and see what I can come up with - I'll keep you posted.

Anyway.. I'm looking forward to trying out your levels. =)Believe it or not... and I'm not making this up... I used to live in the UK, for a short while anyway. I was in Epsom, Surrey and went to school in Cobham. My favorite pasttime was taking the train into London and shopping for video games. Oh, and buying CDs at the Virgin superstore. Overall I hated the weather, loved the public transportation system, and picked up on a few British food-related habits. In particular, I prefer scones and crumpets to any American pastry, I still put milk in my tea, and my favorite part of fish and chips is the "scraps". I developed a taste for curry while I was there too. There aren't enough Mexican restaurants there though... You need to work on that.

Enjoy my levels, and let me know if there's anything you think I can do better. Thanks!
