Rag Doll Kung Fu?: Fists of Plastic is a PS3 exclusive party-fighting game based on the original 2005 title, Rag Doll Kung Fu, created by Mark Healy (co-founder of Media Molecule). I got it, and it's great! I never knew it didn't have online multiplayer. I think it does, I'm almost certain.

I got stuck on the campaign though, and can't seem to beat the level were you throw people off a cliff. Stupid ragdoll people throw me off.		2009-04-10 06:34:00

I got it but can't play it as yet as my wrist is still all bandaged up from the operation but my mates had a go and it looks brilliant. Dressing comes off on Wednesday so should be able to play then but as far as I am aware there is no online multiplayer which really is a waste of a great game.

I haven't played much (outside of the tutorial) but the parts I played are great so far.

Ya, the only one that is easy to get it on is the Tutorial, and you pretty much have to get it there.

What's worse is that if the Sackboy costume is indeed in the game, it will be one of three things: Offsides, which no one knows how to get yet, Get All Plastics, or, God forbid, Get All Awards. No Sackboy for me. 		2009-04-11 00:03:00

Haha come on, the game is just a day old, no one's gonna be a full expert in a day!

Aww man, i REALLY want this game :O I've gotten WormsHD now, and obviously love it. But it saddens me that it is nothing new, just the good old classic worms

Anyway, back on topic...

Rag Doll Kung Fu : Fists of Plastic 9/10

Graphics - Great 10/10

Sounds - Perfect 10/10

Price - 10$ can't beat it 10/10

Controls - 10/10, i wish 6 axis was more responsive but this is my fault for my settings im sure, ALOT of your crucial moves when you start playing hard come from the six axis

Gameplay - 10/10, hard is actually hard, medium is medium, and easy is easy (hoping for a patch to bring the extreme ). All the maps are great and my buddy and I have yet to find any sort of exploit. The challenges are fun.... and (coincidently) very challenging! My friend and I sat down for a few hours last night going for gold on all the challenges, only to find out theres a 4th level (fists of plastic) to achieve! This will take a long time.

Single Player - 9/10. WTB side scrolling 1 hit kill baddies. But in all seriousness, the single players alright. Not much replayability (see below) because single player is solely challenges. Survival - kill as many as you can in waves w/o dying, Capture the fish - try to capture the fish while npcs try to stop you, theres a juggling one where you gotta keep a guy in the air for as long as possible, Cleanup (MY FAVORITE) you play on the only level you can throw people off, and the challenge is to throw people off in increasingly more difficult waves. Theres sharpshooter whre you take a shuriken and hit barrels that come more rapidly yadda yadda... theres way of the firefly where you use this move called fire fly to fly into barrels, the challenge is staying in the air as long as possible and getting combos....

Multiplayer - 9/10. It reminds me of N64 SSB. It totally loses a point for no online multiplayer, however (wtf). Most agree that it will be patched in at a later date. The 4 modes of multiplayer are Deathmatch, Capture the Fish, Dodgeball, and King of the Hill. Deathmatch your obvious deathmatch, Capture the fish (No AI support for multiplayer, every other game mode has AI bot support ) is the most fun (IMO) because a fish spawns on the map, and a basket is there, and you and your friend (up to 4) fight over the fish and try to get it in the basket. King of the hill theres a little platform you all fight over to stand on and show off (ala LBP style by moving your arms with r2 and l2) to gain points. And dodgeball you get a blue ball and if you throw it at someone and they dont block, insta death.

Replayability - 9/10. Only 8 maps, 4 modes. Plenty of unlockables, but the kind of unlockables you will be pulling your hair out on, rather than enjoying the proccess.

My final and smallest gripe, is the lack of maps you can be thrown off of SSB style. Only 1 map has the ability to fall off and die (or throw people off :arg

This. Game. Is. Fun.

You should buy it. Honestly after spending a few hours a few nights ago youtubing every PSN title available, and reminescing of old ps1 games now available (talk about bad selection, but a talk for another day), the only 3 games that stuck in my head that I was actually contemplating were Burn Zombie Burn, Rag Doll Kung Fu, and Commando Wolf (or something like that).

Bottom line this is one of the best fighting games in a while. Its Rated ?E? yet anyone of any age/mindset would have a blast with this.

Online Multiplayer with more unlockables would make this game a 10/10 for me, for sure. My friends and I have been looking for a great multiplayer game to pass the time, and we have found it!

Sorry for the long winded multi-wall-o-text, but this is about as thorough of insight your going to get on the game w/o buying it. If you were on the fence and and couldnt decide to buy it, you should now have a good idea of what to do 		2009-04-19 17:38:00

At 1st i thought the SIXAXIS moves were a bit off, but nnow they're easy!
Thi game is quite entertaining, tho as many had said onlyime multyplayer would do for and even greater gameplay.

This game is great but I feel it's missing a lot of things. I would pay to have a content patch if it included things like:

-online multiplayer (of course)
-some kind of arcade mode where you fight everyone to reach the top
-ability to change character's clothing during character selection screen
-ability to move custom costumes around and delete them
-ability to make your own map (not like LBP, more like Super Smash Bros. Brawl)

Other than that, this game is awesome. I'm so addicted to it that I got it yesterday and I already have every trophy in the game, all I need to do to get everything is get "Plastic" on every challenge (I have Gold on every one right now).		2009-05-17 06:38:00

Basically, this game is Brawl. Dead serious. Except the weapons are more fun to wield, grabbing people is more fun, there's WAY less depth than their should be, and Brawl has MARIO!		2009-05-17 16:24:00

Yeah thats just what I though when I started playing. Its got the same feel as brawl. Tonnes of hilarious moments when playing with friends and a highly pick up and play game.

I think there really is a nice level of depth in it though, maybe not as huge as brawl. But you can catch thrown weapons in mid air. And you can charge up a full hadouken, and drop it. Then someone else can pick it up and use it against you O_o.... lots of little things like this that I keep noticing 		2009-05-17 16:35:00

lol, there's no online multyplayer whatsoever, so it doesn't matter if you got it for free or not.
Besides, how would they know who downloaded the game free and who paid for it?

Oh yeah... I only just noticed theres a "record video" and "upload video directly to youtube" option O_o.......

I haven't tried uploading yet, but it sounds pretty handy... I presume you type in your account details. It'd be super handy for recording your highscore runs.

Also... about the Kung Fu Juggling.... I checked out the user with No. 1 high score..... He's got 155 in a row, but he's only got 155 hits.... That means he started a chain and it never broke until the time was up O_o... He also only used the lightening balls... WOW		2009-05-17 16:47:00

I have gotten "Plastic" in Acrobatics, King of the Hill, Way of the Firefly, & Kung Fu Juggling along with Gold on everything else.

Here are some of my tips:
Survival-When you have a lot of Chi and want to meditate but they're kicking your ***, Firefly all the way to the top of the map and meditate up there.

Sharpshooter-Stay on the platform at all times unless you have to go down to get a target. Also, this might sound stupid but make sure you get all the targets, even the ones you think you can't get (like the ones under the platform). I've noticed that if you leave some at the bottom, the targets emit slower.

Capture the Fish-Don't look for a fight! If you're not getting attacked don't go fight someone (unless there are 3 guys, then I think you have to beat one). Just get the fish, jump over the guy guarding the basket, throw the fish in, and jump away. Don't forget, if you're in a tight spot, Firefly away!

Acrobatics-If you don't get up to at least 7000 at the beginning without losing your "Whoa", I doubt you can get plastic...

King of the Hill-Remember to "Free-pose" (Hold L2 & R2 and move the analog sticks like LBP) when you're on top of the hill.

Way of the Firefly-Don't Firefly down unless absolutely necessary. If there's a target under you, let yourself fall down, without touching the ground of course, and hit it sideways.

Kung Fu Juggling-I got Plastic by throwing the frog near the tree and Lightning Ball-ing him to death.		2009-05-17 21:01:00

Yeah, you can't hurt anyone with free-pose (similar to LBP) unless you have nunchakus, a staff, or a pot in your hand. But, when you're playing King of the Hill and you free-pose, you get points quicker.		2009-05-17 21:07:00

Nice job brnxblze! I think the ones I'd have trouble with are the firefly and the juggling... I just find the sixaxis to be completely inconsistant and counterintuitive especially when you have to aim your firefly at the same time >_>

Try swooshing where you're going. Example; You're target is in the air, hold square, aim up then swoosh up, you'll get the hang of it and it gets really fun. But don't play this with other people around, they'll stare at you and think you're crazy ._.2009-05-18 04:47:00

I forget which one it was, I almost got plastic on one last night. I think I can get plastic on Acrobatics with a little practice and probably capture the fish with a little work too. I'm sure I can get the others, will just take some work. it's fun though2009-05-18 18:36:00

Just checked... There's no Trophy for getting ALL PLASTIC. Not sure why, there's not even a platinum trophy for this game.

But you do however unlock Sackboy as a character when you've gained all the rewards in the game... this pretty much means getting all trophys and plastic rank in everything O_o
Not sure if I'm up for that really.... It's not like I'll be able to show off my sackboy online :S		2009-05-18 20:15:00

actually i don't think psn games are allowed to have platinums
and they're limited to a maximum of about 12 trophies too for those who didn't know

i think wipeout HD has a platinum trophy because it was a disc-based game

I was thinking the same thing about the size of it. And ya it would be great if they had a story / even just an arcade mode with difficulty settings would be nice. Maybe just face some random characters.

Adding in an arcade section / online play / more challenges and maybe weapons they could make this game epic.		2009-05-22 18:12:00
