It depends for me.. the show was way more creative than the simpsons, it was adventurous and even had a few episodes that would touch you emotionally.. Simpsons never made me want to cry, but Frys dog sitting infront of the pizza place waiting for Fry... OMG its soo sad.. or the one where Fry thinks his brother stole his identity and digs up the grave and on the tombstone it says "Phillip J Fry, named for his uncle to cary on his spirit" or somthing like that.. LOL ... or how about the one where they get stung by the giant bee.. then like leela thinks Fry died and stuff but she keeps seeing him, but then at the end she was in a coma and Fry had been there talking to her for weeks... Idk they were just sad somtimes... had alot of funny stuff too.

the story lines are alot deeper and characters have more dimensions...

That being said Simpsons probably wins on comedy.. or at least it used to, back when It was good.. I havent watched it in years, because its just not funny anymore.. I miss the days when conan o'brian wrote episodes.. the Monorail was the greatest...

One of Fox's best shows to die to sports.

Technically its not dead, just nobodys paying them to make more. The new movies are excellent however.

Family Guy is the third best cartoon eva, behind South Park and Futurama. It's randomness is hilarious and original.2009-03-19 20:18:00

How about when he re-arranged the stars to make lela fall for him, then time traveled and forgot what he did - then of course the whole thing is eaten by a worm hole and they never see it... also a sad moment2009-03-19 22:58:00

One of the best shows in my opinion. I loved the episode where Bender competes against Elzar in a cooking show and they have to make meals out of soylent green.2009-03-20 03:37:00

I love Futurama too. I find it quite a lot better than the Simpsons. I think it's much more creative than the Simpsons (well, Futurama is set in the year 3000), the characters have more depth and personnality, it's more emotionally moving and I just find it much more funny. One of my favourite characters is Dr. Zoidberg.

I wish they would make some new episodes again someday, but at least they released 4 Futurama movies recently.

It got cancelled, but FOX decided to let them make and air 4 movies. Whether or not it's going to continue from there is unknown.

Ya I agree this deff shouldn't of been cancelled I find this show much better than the simpsons. I think most people may not of liked it because it's not completely random retarded humor and the characters actually have some depth.

halfasack brought up a really good point too. Family Guy reaches a broader intellectual spectrum as well. You can be very intelligent and laugh at it or very dumb . Where as Futurama seems a little more intelllectual

You've seen the last 2 years of Family Guy right? The best episodes of Family guy were last season before they were canceled and I enjoyed the first 5 or so when it was brought back. New ones are just one long, trying to be funny, trying-to-joke-but-can't-get-to-the-punch-line, trying to hard episodes. And their running 'gags' run for far to long and are not funny at all.

Futurama had a better charm, better episodes, better jokes, better everything.

And now that King of the Hill has been cut, I fear Sunday nights are going to suck, especially with Seth McFarlaine holding 3 of the 4 30 minute slots. The only decent show is American Dad, which is surprisingly getting slightly more watchable.

It goes in this order....

Seasons 3-8 Simpsons>Futurama>Old Family Guy>>>>>>> Seasons 9-now Simpsons>>>>>>>American Dad>>>Family Guy>>First 2 seasons of The Simpsons (so shoot me, I just can't connect to them).

EXACTLY! I actually felt my heart beat for a moment at the end of that movie. Now, my heart is more lifeless than before. They say to love and lose is better than to not love at all, but what happens when you are left to either keep your heart beating or to just let it die again?

... /PoeticTryhard

That movie was possibly the best ever. I also loved the whole "I thought you only took DNA of DYING species" thing. If you havn't seen "Futurama: Into the Wild Green Yonder", go see it NAOI.

Hey, anyone who has seen the 4 movies - can you list them by name? And basic synopsis. I've seen 2 but don't know if they were in order, and I have a third, so I want to straighten them out before I watch the third in order to NOT watch the last one and see this "heart beating cliffhanger" without watching the other three first.

Thanks in advance. And god I hope there are more movies to come.

Yeah, it was a good series, a lot better than the curren Family guy/simpsons, the simpsons fell at about season 15, by then they just weren't watchable for me, and Family guy was good and all, but now its following its predecesor's (The Simpsons) footsteps. Just lke LightGrenades said, they're just trying to be funny and failing miserab;ly at it.
Altho in a sort of way, aren't you glad they stopped Futurama before they killed it?
That way it will always be a good series

1 Bender's Big Score
Planet Express and Bender are taken over by devious nudist alien scammers, who discover the secret of time travel mysteriously tattooed on Fry's buttocks. They send Bender back in time to steal ancient riches which they use to buy Earth, leading into an intergalactic space battle to reclaim ownership of Earth.

2 The Beast with a Billion Backs
A horrific, planet-sized, tentacled alien from another universe comes through a rift in the universe and, with unusually romantic intentions, falls in love with everyone in the universe. During the relationship with the monster, Earth's population moves onto its body, leaving Earth to the robots.

3 Bender's Game
Bender's imagination runs wild during a game of Dungeons & Dragons while the rest of the crew is out searching for answers about Mom's mysterious dark matter mine. Strange events follow, mysteriously sending them into a fantastical, non-futuristic land of dragons and sorcery created by Bender's imagination.

4 Into the Wild Green Yonder
Ancient forces of darkness reveal themselves to wage an epic battle everywhere forever where everything (and much more) is at stake. With Bender and Leela battling love and law alike, the fate of the universe rests in Fry's hands, even though it could mark the end of Planet Express as they know it.
