Sack Fighter!

I'm working on a new project: Sack Fighter. It is a 2D fighting game, with 2 fighters, controlled by the sackboy!
Every fighter is a contraption, and it can give punch and kicks. The fighter has a life-bar, that is simply a visible paint switch. Every time a fighter receives an hit, an emitter shots paintballs on the switch, and the fighter loses life. The fighter can move to right and left with a piston, controlled by the sackboy.
The idea is simple, but nice I'm trying to made it, but i have some problems.
First, i will show you some photos:

You can see the 2 fighters (they only a beta, in the final version the grapich will be much better ) , the life bars and the pistons.

The fighters are made with cardboard, but they are very breakable. I tryied to use other materlas, but i have every time the same resulst: whit a violent hit, often an arm or a leg breaks off...:blush:

And now, the FCS! The Fighting Control System! I had this idea when i was thinking on "how to make the control easyier".

When you go in there, you equip a jetpack. With the jetpack you can move up and down the "capsule". When you go up, the fighter goes right, when you go left, the fighter goes left. There are 2 piece of polystyrene. The left one is the punch, and the right one the kick. So:
SackBoy - Fighter

Up = Right
Down = Left
Right+R1 = Punch
Left+R1 = Kick


The controls are easy, and you can control the fighter without porblems, but they're to breakable, and i need to add other moves, like a parry, or something taht can add more fun at the fight
If someone want to give me some tips or feedback, i will apreciate it

This is a really good project! It must be hard to control, so kudos for making this! I don't have many ideas, but seems like it would benefit from the collision switch suggestion I made in the Suggestions forum 2009-03-16 21:44:00

Thanks, i'm trying to make this thing the easyier possible to control.
And, a collision switch could be perfect in this genre of level

Lol!!! This is a fantastic idea - I look forward to giving it a go. It reminds me of Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots.

Don't worry, i'm trying to add it The only problem is that the Hadouken will be to strong: i must add a parry, so you can stop the hadouken

UPDATE:
1) Maybe i fixed the "broke bug", if i set all the piston's strong on 4, and i made the arms of sponge, they will not break.
2) To add a Training Mode or a 1 player mode, i'm making an AI for the enemy, so he can do some moves to make a real fight. I built a wheel of cardboard, with many magnetic keys, they activate some magnetic switches in a semi casual order, and the enemy began to fight.
3) Added some grapich things, so every time you hit the enemy, it appears an "HIT!" sign, like in the real fighters I'm trying to make a "combo counter" too, so you can see how many times you hitted you enemy
4) I'm making many characters, so in the beginning of the level, i will add a "Character Select", to make all the level more funny and add a RePlay factor

NEW UPDATE: So, i think i finally fixed the broke issue: now the arms are in the tiny layer, and the arms of the 2 fighters don't hurt beetween them, so they can't broke.
I'm trying to make to the fight a "technique" approach, like in the real Street Fighter: to win you must think and use your technique skills, not rush on the enemy.
Now the moves are 3 - 4: fist, kick, a parry and a special move, like Hadouken or Shoryuken
Every move can be dodged in a way: a fist with a kick, the kick with aparry, the parry with the special move, and the special move with a quick attack
Then, i'm working on a single player mode to: Training Mode, a Tutorial, an Arcade Mode and maybe a Story Mode. I'm building many AI with many difficult: easy, normal, hard...
I think this level could be best playied with a frined, but i want to make a replay factor, and a way for train yourself alone
Then, the 2 fighter use only the first layer and a tiny layer behind the normal one, so i can use the last 2 to make a background, that can be changed.
I'm making many fighters, not only 2, and some background (maybe some custom soundtracks too ) so the sackboys can select their favourite fighters with their own special moves and backgrounds, so the batle will be different everytime.
Fortunately, the fighters use only the first segment of the thermometer, so i can add a lot of things.

I will be happy to know your opinions about this project, and fell free to psot your tips or to say where i made a mistake
