Just played it and it was fantastic!

I noticed that you toned down the difficulty in this one. That should get you better ratings.

Hey thanks, man! I'm glad you liked it.

And that's cool that you noticed I toned down the difficulty. It can be hard to know how
hard your level really is when you've played through it a billion times.

Ok, just got finished with this one. Verdict - 5 stars and a brilliant tag, plus a heart. Absolutely drop dead gorgeous level.

PROS:

Visuals were fantastic. Great style. I loved the first level, and this one just surpassed it. I like the way you are progressively changing the looks - and I really look forward to what you do with the next one.

The waterfall section - WOW! These have got to be the best water effects I've seen. And the part where you end up platforming behind the waterfall - very cool idea and it works well.

CONS:

Ok, couple things here-

In the part right before the rotating grabbable platforms with eletrical balls falling in between - there probably should be a checkpoint here. I just figured out a fairly complex platforming maneuver right before it, and it was kind of disappointing when I jumped into one of the falling eletrical balls and had to go all the way back. Now, I'm a decent gamer and actually enjoy these kinds of challenges, but I can just about guarrantee you many players are going to be really frustrated by this.

A fairly interesting bug - There is a hanging checkpoint right before you are hanging on the ceiling and you get pulled up into the waterfall area - When I respawned I had no idea I was supposed to hang on, so I fell..... all the way down into the bottom of the entire level and out of the game. It was kind of cool because I could see the bottom of the waterfall glass landing on the ground, but I'm sure you don't want many players ending up here. Suggest putting some poisonous gas below this area so it kills the player.

This is a subjective comment, so take it with a grain of salt.... but I feel I need to say it. I still think you need to do something about the way the father and the boy look. In a level that's so gorgeous, it's a little disappointing to see quite possibly the worst looking characters from the story levels as main characters in here. I would at least sticker them up a bit to make them look different. Your call, and if I didn't love these levels so much I probably wouldn't mention it.

All in all, great job! Looking forward to the next one.

Hey cubbage thanks for the review! I'm glad you liked it overall.

I'm also glad to tell you that I made all the changes you suggested. Added a checkpoint, fixed the gas below the waterfall and designed my own homemade Peep and Poop! I haven't designed the scientist in the first level but i'll get to that probably tonight after work.

Anyway, the changes made a difference for sure. Thanks for the suggestions!

My verdict on the new characters - WAY BETTER! It's amazing how a little change like that can suddenly make you care about helping them.

One thing - I noticed I can still fall all the way out of the level in the area I mentioned. If you can't identify the area I took photos. If you temporarily send a friend request to me (PSN CuzFeeshe) I can send them to you so you can fix the area.

(I only keep a few friends on my PSN because of the messages all the time, but I'll be glad to add you long enough to send you the photos).

ok - I finally made my way all the way though this level. WOW talk about tight platforming! Took me four restarts to get through it (through my own bad playing - nothing wrong with the level.) I have to say I really wanted to finish. It's so beautiful and I just wanted to see what fantastic area you set up next. Really a first class level imo.

The two character redesigns are perfect. Cute, quirky and the add another level of sophistication to the level. Makes all the difference here to have original characters.

5 stars a heart & creator heart from me (your 1st Journey level is great too)... this level deserves to be played a lot more and rated higher.

Wow! This level is amazing. It's a visual beast! I loved your Part 1, but I think Part 2 tops it! The redesigned Peep and Poop are fantastic and a big improvement over the collector model previously used.

I still think that your levels are geared more toward hardcore players though as there are a lot of tricky jumps and/or timing. I was able to make it through without much trouble though and I consider myself to be a fan of the easier LBP levels. I'd recommend making all of your checkpoints double life or I'd consider throwing a few regular checkpoints in between the harder segments.

That's really my only criticism though and it's really just a recommendation if you want to make the level easier. I loved everything else. The waterfall section is probably one of my favorite sections out of any LBP level I have played. It looked soooo good.

I also love where the story is headed and I'm very interested to see where you take it from here and what kind of visual style you create. Well done!

Just wanted to mention that you can still fall down to the bottom of the level. It's right after the part where you climb along te ceiling, and grab the balls on winches to lower yourself. Then you can jump to the left, and fall in a crack.

I loved the level though Impressive visuals

Wow, thanks for all the positive feedback! I'm glad you guys are liking it.

I think I've fixed the falling to the bottom of the level problem. Hey Cubbage, is the part you're referring to the same part Thommy is referring to? You can fall between the two huge moving pillars that you platform through? If so i've made the gas under the moving pillars three layers deep. Before it was only one layer so you could fall behind it. (oh and i'm glad you like the new Peep and Poop. Great suggestion and i'm so glad i followed it)

If you can still fall through when you first get to the waterfall and you're hanging from the ceiling let me know. I tried to fall through there like a thousand times but could never make it.

MrSupercomputer: I'm glad you liked it! I agree that it's harder than your average level. I don't know if it's just that i've played it so much or what but I was genuinely surprised to hear from people that it's hard. I'll look into adding a few more checkpoints. As of now I think pretty much every checkpoint is a double life. I'll swap out any that aren't.

Thanks for the great suggestions, people!

I'm not totally sure if its the same part, however when I'm on the ground and I walk a bit to the right I can see the waterfall glass chunks hitting the ground. So if this is the area you fixed, you should be good.2009-03-18 20:13:00

Naw... CCubbage is innocent - look at the completely harmless look in his avatars eye.... now look closer.... and closer....

You know, instead of fixing the issue you could just scatter some point bubbles in the bottom of the level and put a magic mouth saying "Hey, how did you find this place?"
