Collection of Cow Glitched materials!

Archive: 69 posts

Hey all, i dont know if this has been brought up, but i thought i would throw it out there. I have a few materials captured when the cow glitch was still working, such as weightless snow paper, dissolvable white concrete, dissolveable autumn cloth and weightless green wood...

so here is my thoughts... i want to create a level, with collectable items to include all of our cow glitched materials to increase our creative abilities... does this sound like a good idea? let me know, and i can consolidate all of our materials on a prize level with your name giving you the credit for submitting it.

Edit:

OKAY! The level is published, and only LBPCentral.com and LBPforum.net members get exclusive access to almost 200 materials which have been cow glitched, by me, personally. We have the following highlights (in my opinion) and many, many more!

Cowed dissolve, visible glass, sponge, metal, wood, rubber, pink and peach floaty

Cowed metal, visible glass, sponge

Cowed rubber, visible metal, cloth

Cowed pink/peach floaty, visible... everything.

Cowed cloth, visible... everything that isnt grabbable.

We have grab-able metals, rubber, glass...

I think I've covered most of our bases folks. I didn't go throughout the whole game and get every material, so I'm sorry that some just aren't available. So instead I tried to diversify the textures, so you could sticker them for maximum customization.

The key level is called "50's diner, Key level" the password is "moo9" you place them on the wall decor, the orange, yellow, red, and white boxes.

The level is called Mooooo. It is right next to the key level.

How do you use those? You duplicate them and then you carve your object?

Everyone should post their cow glitched materials under something like "LBPC--Cow glitch" and then someone should accumulate and re-post all of them in one level.

Shame I don't have any >.>

I had a level on my moon with a lot of those materials but accidentally deleted it.

Edit: Idea!

If you deleted your game data from your PS3. Then disconnect your PS3 from the internet. Go into LBP and make loads of materials with the cow glitch on your 1.00 LBP. Capture them all as one object, download the updates and publish the level with the glitch materials.

Any volunteers?

I certainly ain't doing it. Plus, you'd have to play through all the levels to unlock the materials. And download the level packs. Plus, I'd lose the packs, and the limited-edition stuff like the Valentines etc.2009-03-16 20:19:00

You could keep your game data and DLC data on a USB.

actually... i have an idea. i have a japanese copy of lbp... that hasnt been updated. i just have to get it back from my friend, and make all the cow glitched materials on that... how about some suggestions?

we'll take a vote, because it might be about 4 or 5 days before i can get that copy back. so everyone put up what materials you think are most useful, and we'll vote on the top 20 materials. i might make a few levels, because with that many materials, the thermo will punch me in the eye.

GLASS THAT IS HARD BUT DOESNT SLIP. Also, "grabable anything = awesome".

Does the glitch works with dark matter? Any material with dark matter properties would be extremely usefull. Ridiculously useful.

please.

the still-functioning glass glitch can already have materials that look like glass but behave however you want. What I would like to see is dissolve metal, dissolve wood, and dissolve rubber, as well as green grass that behaves like wood.2009-03-17 00:22:00

Definetly useful. I have dissolvable snow in one of my levels I could capture.

Has anyone tried to material change these items and see if they keep thier properties?? Perhaps keeping them in the same category i.e cloth, wood, stone etc etc.

yeah, i have. and it reverts them to normal cloth/wood/etc.

also, i just thought of one thing. get your votes in, because as soon as i get the japanese game, im going to need to make all the materials before i update to post them online. so this is a one shot deal. i figure, i'll make 4 of each material type. 4 different types of cloth will be dissolvable, 4 will be like wood, 4 will be like glass, 4 will be like dark matter, and 4 like peach floaty material (maybe 2 peach, 2 pink)

so 20 types of cloth, 20 metal, 20 stone, 20 wood makes 80 items. i hope that i can save my profile with that many. does anyone have a known limit? these items will be 4x4 blocks of material, with a speech bubble to explain what they do.

in order to edit these, you will have to use the corner edit tool, as you wont be able to click/drag them to draw your shape.

Dark matter that looks like other materials isn't needed in my opinion. You can always use the invisible dark matter glitch.

I was trying to discover a new way to do the cow glitch yesterday but didn't succeed. I did however discover that you can make plasma balls harmless using the "undangering" tool. I forget the real name.

How about using the key lock system and making the level locked but copyable on a new PSN ID, so we can go in and capture what we need at the time? It will save your profile space.

And I didnt know you could unlethalise plasma Killian, nice find. Be good for forcefields and such

I agree with Grantos. It would save us having to collect 80 items.

I think the key should only be given to people on LBPC to prevent it form getting too well know because it'll probably be moderated if it gets popular.

3 things:

1-Good idea to lock it for LBPC people but I would like to collect the material. It simply is faster to go get them from the popit when you're creating.

2-If you use the material changer tool on those glitched materials, do they retain their glitched values?

3: thinking about it guys, you don't need to lose your profile for doing some glitched materials. You only need to remove the patches the game did receive so far and this is the "game data" block. All your things and your unlocks are in the "save data" and you don't have to erase it.

I wonder what would happen if you tried to use a costume without its patch installed.

lol @ adlington

yeah the material loses it's glitched values.

ok guys, i've begun the level, and i decided that to save space, im going to make the objects be attached by what they do, not how they look. so there will be one called peach floaty, and it will have taxi metal, cloth types, and others all collected as an object. there is 4 versions of each material, and all types of material except styrofoam are included. i had to restart my lbp to do this, and im not going to waste time looking for those hard to get materials, so im sorry if i dont have everything you are looking for, but im just not going to waste my time. however, i think i've got a robust enough selection to appease most folks out there.

the cowed materials are:

peach floaty,
pink floaty
dissolve
wood
cloth
metal
rubber

im not going to make glass that doesnt look like glass because it is too easy to just throw a glass material thinly over the top to make yourself slide around.

im also not making dark matter that looks different because you can hide it, and you can also make it invisible.

Did you try to load your saved game with the "unpatched" LBP? You did put your saved data in some external device right? You could just copy it back in your hard drive and try to start the game unpatched but with your save.

You can make ANYTHING dissolve already, just hide a protected brain attached to ANY material, anything at all - and then set the switch that would have dissolved it, to one shot, then attach it directly to the protected brain, then hide it - and there you go - dissolve-able ANYTHING2009-03-18 19:09:00

Some sponge that looks like dark matter would be good, then you could have an invisible surface to grab onto, so I could create a layer of grab over my metal instead of cowing the metal.2009-03-18 22:06:00

I agree. Different variations of rubber would be awesome, as rubber can be invisible.

Grabbable rubber is the main one, though.

im not really sure that will work... if it is too thin, i don't think you can actually grab it...

as for my saved file, i have a lot of dlc, and when you remove the patches, it thinks your savegame is corrupted. i did back it up onto an sd card though.

i'm going to make up some words to call what you see, vs. the actual parameters of the material.

what i will call what you see will be the "visible" material,

and the parameters, i will call the "cowed" material.

so if you have snow paper that dissolves, it is "cowed" dissolve, "visible" snow paper

so. i have not yet made a cowed sponge, visible rubber yet, but if you guys want it i can do that.

also- although you *can* use a brain to dissolve anything, there are places you don't want to do that. for instance, when making a vertical scrolling shooter, if you make the enemies dissolve by using a brain, it takes a second before they dissolve, so that they fall toward your plane/spaceship/bird. if you use a dissolve material and mag switches, the enemy disappears instantly.

Now since I've done this, I expect to see some nifty looking levels come out. I hope that this project will help everyone, and if there is a material that is missing, again, I'm very sorry, but i just didn't want to waste my time going and getting them all. As it is, there is over 200 parts I glitched for you. Most of them are the same materials with different parameters.

If someone has some glitched materials they want to add to this, from previous saves, don't hesitate to send them my way, and i will add them to the level periodically.

The only payment for these items is that i request you try my levels and rate them fairly, if they suck, rate'm low. if you love'm, rate them high. If you are indifferent...you know what to do.

I did not make the items shareable because i dont want these items to become to widespread and have MM come down and crash our little party.

Dissolve "Rough Stone Bricks" Multiple types of sponge, wood, metal.

Grabbable Wood, glass, metal.

Dark Matter in every material possible.

Slippery Dark Wood please!!! I would love this for my level, as I could get a rid of my brown glass (thin layer on top of wood for tarzan part atm) and get more thermo space.

Anything with Rough Stone bricks, very used material.

Grabbable of the wood used in the begining of mostevilmilos "Belly of the Beast". I cannot recall the name, but it is used a lot, and grabbable crates would help. Polystyrene please because it is lighter. Same for rusted brown metal.

Wait... can this explain where the unglue glitch came from??

But back on topic, thanks for the huge effort to combine these materials! I'll definately be checking it out as I find out if anything can be useful for my marble level (see dissolvable wood thread in Everything Else LittleBigPlanet). Also a big thanks to RangerZero for bringing me here!

Dissolve "Rough Stone Bricks" Multiple types of sponge, wood, metal.

Grabbable Wood, glass, metal.
I'm not sure i used "rough stone bricks" as i said i didnt go through the whole level getting every material. i did have a lot of the concrete and asphalt textures though, and the jade...

There is grabbable wood, glass, metal, rubber, and stone.

Dark Matter in every material possible.
dark matter can be made invisible, or hidden so i didn't even touch it.

Slippery Dark Wood please!!! I would love this for my level, as I could get a rid of my brown glass (thin layer on top of wood for tarzan part atm) and get more thermo space.

I didn't do that one either because of the option to do just that.

rusted brown metal is very useful too i did make every iteration of that one i think. If i get the time i *MAY* go back and try to get some of the other materials. thanks for the good feedback!

no, as far as my experience suggests, they take up the thermo of the visible material.

A little help for those who don't know how to use these materials-

once you place the object, separate the material you wish to use from the others, and collect it alone as an object. from that point on, you can heart it, or just use it like any other material from your "community objects" page.

the material at the base of the collected objects is the cowed material, and the objects are named for their properties.

Due to family circumstances, i may be taking a short siesta from LBP. i'll try to pop in here to help anyone who needs it, but i'll probably not be playing for about a week or so.

thanks for all the great feedback, and it has been pleasure to help you guys our with this.

you must capture the block of glass as a seperate item, then use it from there. then you can use it like anything else.

this is because i put all the types as one collected object, and the game treats them strangely. however, it saves on profile space...

As far as I know MGS needs the patch to work. At a guess I would say the patch contains some coding which tells the disc version of the game what it does with the stuff in MGS.

a big help would be glitching polyester or whatever its called,
polyester, tin foil, are 2 big things i need....
and would it be possible to make them into shapes? cuz it doesnt let me edit them or anything....

so i REALLY need you to make a sackboy shape and cut it off..
i need the sackboy arms/legs to be POLYESTER FLOATY (pink/peach dont matter plz and ty)
(for my project the anti-gravity space suit, ill let you be the only one to have it!)

polyester is more to make it look better, the floaty makes the suit look like a pink bigfoot...

ive now got it to work so, if the
rightarm/right leg is floaty it goes right,
left arm/left leg is floaty it goes left,

but i need the 4 limbs in polyester floaty, and ill give you both forms

In order to use these, and make whatever shape you want, you need to seperate the glitched box you want from the others, and capture it as a seperate object. then, use it from your captured object. that will make it to where you can edit it.

if you need a sackboy shape, do the above, then expand it to make it bigger. make a block of material which DOES NOT MATCH the material you need the sackboy made of.

make a sackboy, and cut it out of the second, non-glitched box. use the sackboy negative to cut out the shape you need from the glitched box, and VOILA!

Wait, quickquestion tho, you know how if you copy your data it will not let you have any trophies when copied back into the ps right?
But if i already got % trophies, will they be locked/nullified if i do that?
If not i might be able to Delete the game data and collect the materials, as many as possible with 1 playerand 1 controller (don't worry, i know how to pass all but 1 or 2 stages with just one controller).

If your save data was created and last refresh was on the same PS3, you will not affect anything.

If you put in your PS3 a save data that has been created (or last refreshed) in another PS3 you will be able to use it but you won't be earning trophies anymore.
