The Great Aztec Adventure!

Archive: 2 posts

Hello all! Just finished publishing my second level. Here's the description I wrote:

Embark on an epic adventure through an ancient ruin, across teetering sky bridges, into a spider's web, through a volcano, down a mine shaft, and into Aztec glory!

It's a very long level...maxed out the thermometer and had to keep finding ways to cram things in. I think it's quite difficult, but some of the expert players out there might prove me wrong! Works well with one player, but requires some pushing and pulling of objects so if you're not so strong at that, a second player will definitely help!

Just search for The Great Aztec Adventure. My PSN is WangMajor...and if anybody is interested in checking out my first level, it's called WangMajor's X2 Challenge. It is what it sounds like -- a two-player-only challenge. That level is VERY difficult (but hopefully not frustrating). You've been warned!

Cheers

Hi, That sounds very interesting and I'll be sure to check that out very soon although i'm no expert player by any means and it sounds like it may be too tough for me but i'll try my best and let you know what I think. Don't worry because I don't rate levels down or bad tag them for being too hard for me, that's just me being rubbish. I still give good ratings based on the quality of a level and the obvious hard work that has gone into them even if I can't finish them.

Well I got round to playing it at last but unfortunately I can't really give concise feedback because as I feared I didn't get very far. I thought it was a great concept and loved what design I did see but I never got past the bridges. It wasn't because I was making stupid mistakes though. I could see what I had to do and where I needed to go, it's just that the layer system caused so many problems. Although the layer system in this game is a great idea it is far from perfect and I'm sure many people have major problems with it as I do. By that I mean that sackboy invariably jumps to a layer other than the one you want him to based on the height of the different layers and that is the main problem I had with this level because when I was dragging the key and the other trigger ( both of which should be made lighter by the way because although it's possible to move them on your own it's very difficult to do so and avoid the dangers at the same time and I can't play with friends online because my download speed is so slow the game is totally unplayable) I kept falling to my death because where you have single layers offset whenever I got to that point dragging something sackboy just fell through the open layer instead of moving to the safe one no matter how much I tried. It's very frustrating when you know exactly what to do but you can't do it simply because of the game physics and the way the layers are arranged. If you could sort the heights of the different layers or at least not put so many gaps it would be much better and I would love to try it again and see what else is in there because I really liked the look of it and the idea behind it.
