"Locked" levels not locked

Archive: 17 posts

Hi all, I,m working on a joint level with littlemanu called 'Little Vista Raceway ( Work In Progress ) whereby we do a bit on the level then publish it while we're both online and the other copies it to their moon and we immediately lock the published one. However we keep getting plays on the level and already have a low rating and comments saying it has no finish and bad tags even though we haven't published it for play yet. I messaged someone who had played it today and they said it was unlocked on their end but I checked and it was definitely showing as locked to me and had the lock symbol on. I tried unlocking and then locking it again incase it was just a temporary glitch and asked the guy to check later and he said it was still unlocked for him. Ir's got me totally stumped.
It's not just this level either. It's also happening on a level I have published just to keep my homemade stuff safe in ( Wallace and Gromit goodies and other stuff ). This one has been permanently locked all the time it's been published but I still have plays, comments and tags on it. Very weird. Recently it's also stopped displaying the lock symbol even though it is showing a tick by locked in the edit menu.
Has anyone experienced this before or have any ideas what the problem maybe.

It happened for me before that i've been locking levels or publishing levels locked and it seems that the lock didn't update correctly for some people or something.

It didn't happen to me since a long time though.

i've had someone/something play my locked level but they never rated/tagged it.

try locking it before publishing it and give the guy a key to the level (publish it and you'll get a key. then capture it as an object and send it to your buddy). that should stop people from playing it.

as for the lock disappearing, that happens when you play a locked level.

Yep, I also have plays (14 so far) on a level that is locked. They started showing up sometime shortly after I accidentally published it unlocked, then realized this (within a few minutes) and changed it back to locked.

Luckily for me, I have been given 5 stars and one tag (Difficult). But my level wasn't finished either, so I was surprised by the rating.

I guess I had assumed it was Mm staff doing their moderator thing.

I've heard two things, but cannot comment whether they are true or not:

1. Being invited into a locked level automatically grants you a key.

2. Mm moderators investigate the content of locked levels periodically, granting you plays despite your level being locked.

The lock graphic will not appear on your levels if you look at them on your "my levels" page.

My locked copy of Abyss 2! now has a total of 7 mystery plays that have accumulated over the last two weeks.

Not true. I've noticed that the lock graphic will appear if you locked it on your moon at time of publication. If you published unlocked, then locked it down from your "my levels" page, the graphic appears unlocked.

I'm pretty sure the moderation doesn't count as an official play.
I had a pop up saying "your level has 1 play" soon after published a locked level, so I was like "wtf!?" so I checked it, and it said no plays, so I have reason to believe that's how the mod works

Those plays don't register immediately. If you want to know how many plays you ACTUALLY have, heart or unheart it.2009-03-16 20:52:00

How does that work?

hmmm, i'm sure I published my levels locked. It might be once you played them at least once? This i did. To make sure the publication did work without bugs..

The extra plays come from a you as well as from plays that are from invited friends. Sometimes people ranging from MM to Sony marketing reps play your locked level, but that is rare.2009-03-17 03:10:00

I have a copy of my half finished level published and locked. Last night, 1 play, myself. This morning 6 plays with no star rating's. Everytime I playtest the level with freinds its always from my moon. The copy I keep published is always a create session behind the ones on my moon, I publish before I log off.

Theres also no star rating, which means that if people had recieved a key from my moon they would have had to rate it something?

My guess is the mods have played it as was mentioned above. Perhaps we should throw a locked level up with no key, and something we KNOW will get modded. See what happens xD

Transactions on the server are cached. If someone plays your level or puts a heart on it, you don't immediately see the results because this would be HIGHLY inefficient for the servers to be able to handle. So, they do updates in batches. When you unheart or heart your level, the server does a forced update at that point so you can see the true result.
