Little Big Planet on PC?

Archive: 26 posts

I know they have a PC build of the game, as Alex Evens says in this (http://www.gamasutra.com/view/feature/3961/littlebiggalaxy_alex_evans_on_.php) interview. I've also heard a few times that MM use that version to make their levels.

If there was a PC version to be released:

Would you buy it?
Reckon it'll make creating any easier?
What would you think the controls would be?
Would you need a super fast system to run it?

What are your thoughts on this subject?

Wow, I would definatley buy it! I have next to no control on the PS3 so some of my stuff is poor!
PC would be good, especially if I could play it on my laptop

I doubt it - at least for a while. LBP is Sony's weapon in the game war, and if it was on PC it would definately affect PS3 sales.2009-03-13 20:17:00

The first thing I would do with LBP on the PC is to try to memory hack it to see what kind of funky results I can get. Yeah... let's all hope that doesn't happen for a long while. 2009-03-13 20:19:00

All games are created on PC's, thusly there are PC versions of every single console game ever created. LBP being no exception.

So it in no way means that they have a PC version lying around, waiting for a retail release

But if they made it for PC I'd get it, but probably play the PS3 version more because of the community and the standard platform (meaning people with high end PC's might make levels that people on low end PC's can't handle. on PS3, everyone can play every level)

LBP, and its consumption of prize bubbles, has become a well-oiled machine."

My PC is low spec, so there's little chance a PC version of LBP will run on it.2009-03-14 01:39:00

lol on pc people would make files so you can download new costumes, shrink sack boy, enlarge sackboy, everything
PC LBP would be better then PS3 LBP because of all the mod downloads you could get - like on GTA SA for pc

Hmm, no profile size restrictions.... that alone would be invaluable.

But yeah, don't expect to see this ever... it's Sony product, they wouldn't dare make it multiplatform

I think so. If we could use it, I think it would be more easier to make levels.2009-03-14 03:17:00

Well, xbox is owned by microsoft and PC games/ PC versions of console games are usually run through microsoft aswell. So if there was a PC version released then I wouldn't be too surprised to see it on xbox also.

There is a game coming out on only the PS3 and the PC called "DC Universe Online." The thing is, it is the companies decision to choose if it comes out on the Xbox because you don't need a license to develop games on the PC so there for Microsoft can't force it to come out on the Xbox.
Also I've heard on another interview that it would be impossible for it to come out on the Xbox because the Xbox can't handle it.

Actually, I've recently been thinking about this quite a lot. And although Sony would never put it out on PC - you could easily(easy-ish) hook up your PS3 so that the output is a mouse and Keyboard. This would mean you could have a different control scheme to use, which would be one of the best reasons to have it2009-03-14 10:37:00

Ha, I've had that since the MGS pack came out... but nobody ever noticed it.
Guess that means you're the first lol.

I know, but it might give them an option to release it...

the Xbox can't handle it.
...but I had forgotten about this! I think I've seen this before somewhere.

Microsoft doesn't have anything to do with PC games except theirs. The PC is an opened platforms, ANYBODY can release a game as they see fit.
They don't even have a certification process like on consoles.

Well I didn't fully know that any company could release games onto it, but another thing is that Microsoft like to steal games onto their xbox that were made for one or more other consoles. If they saw it on the PC they would have a high chance of getting an xbox version made, however the xbox probably can't hande it, which is a very good thing to know .

A level planner program would suffice.
The actual game wouldn't have the same feel on a computer. At all.
Planning levels on the pc when I can't get on the game would be ace though

Haha, I love people that feel like they gain something by having a title exclusively for whatever console they own. If LBP came to the Xbox, it'd be given a wider audience so that more people could see just how great it is. If you truly loved LBP like you say you do, you'd wish it was possible for that to happen.

One of the reasons FF13, Bioshock, Assassins Creed, and nearly everything else these days is multiplatform. If it isn't published by the console maker themselves, then the developer is definitely at a gain to make the game for multiple consoles. It's only better!

and @Gilgamesh, I've always modified and joked around with that MGS4 phrase, and noticed your sig for a long time, I just had to say something though, as it was "lol"

You wouldn't really be able to have the same quality on the xbox though..
A game like this was made for the PS3...
What sounds better
LittleBigPlanet for the Xbox 360 elite
or
LittleBigPlanet for the Playstation 3

The second sounds more suited
"play" is much more friendly like "have a bit of fun" and "elite" is like "BE BAD AT THIS GAME AND I WILL KILL YOU"

Hehe.. what a rubbish arguement I had there...

soon enough smart people will make blu ray pcs and upload this to that making a emulator of it... like before... GTA SA was orriginally ps2 only but then some nerds emulated it so rockstar sold it for pc so that people would use that rather than the emulator and so they got moneys2009-03-15 03:26:00

It's sometimes fun to annoy xbox/wii owners with exclusives though.

"stealing" is a stretch. You see many PC games on Xbox360 simply because it's ridiculously easier to port them on the 360 than the PS3 or Wii. That's all. The 360 is working under windows, you basically lower the specs of your high end PC game and then freaking copy-paste the code. With the PS3 you need completely rework the thing. Wii even more.

Anyways, when you see a game ported to 360, it's not stealing because it's the dev/publisher that acquired a liscence to devellop it on the console, Microsoft can't force them outside bribing them into devellopement or supporting them like Sony does with multiple devs.

Well, when I said stealing, I did mean paying the developer of the game to allow a release of it on another console.

Yes, but it's sometimes annoying to see games that were made for one console moved onto multiple consoles because the game sold well/ looked like a good seller before release and the original developer wants to make some exta money. Less exclusives for one console= less console sales; balanced number of console exclusives= cheapest console sells more (that is of course not taking into account things like graphics).

Actually, if LBP hadn't of been an exclusive, I think it wouldn't have been as famous and probably might of not succeeded in making the game. If it wasn't an exclusive, MM wouldn't have got all their support from Sony. MM were just a small company that had only made one not very well known game before, on the PC. If MM hadn't of tapped Sony on the shoulder and said "Hey were developing this game only for the PS3," Sony wouldn't have put them in the spotlight.
