My Sketchbook - Finished Requests in first post :D
Archive: 54 posts
This is my sketchbook..... not that its full of sketches. I'm working on learning to use Photoshop along with some other digital painting apps over the summer... but I'm still a lot more comfortable with real media. So I'll post most of the stuff worth posting here I'm thinking of setting up a blog, just to keep track of my progress. I dunno how many of you guys use Blogger or check blogs and such....... I sure don't, but I'll post a link once I've set it up. Taking Requests (be imaginitive!) Requests to come Moleynator - Mole of some sorts Yarbone - Minigun toting Sackboy Luckyshot - Gangster character Finished Requests Formula 1 car requested by IronmaidenFan http://img234.imageshack.us/img234/3976/formula1.jpg Zombie Monkey requested by Moleynator http://img291.imageshack.us/img291/236/apeofdeath.jpg Original OP Right so... I finally got around to taking some shots of my more recent drawings. Just thought I'd post a few, and see what people make of them. If you want to use them ASK ME, and I'll be happy to let you unleash your sig/avatar skillz upon them. Also, If anyone has something they want me to draw, I might just draw it. If its crazy enough. So aim requests here! and yes... this is what I do instead of learning at school http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h230/Wiggles2000/Sketchbook%20III/DSC00105.jpg http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h230/Wiggles2000/Sketchbook%20III/DSC00121.jpg Bears are great http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h230/Wiggles2000/Sketchbook%20III/DSC00113.jpg Just some random character designs http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h230/Wiggles2000/Sketchbook%20III/DSC00109.jpg Anyone seen Evil Dead 2?? So if people are interested.. I'll post more. I'm gonna scan the rest in, cause some of these are slightly out of focus, cause of bad lighting >_> | 2009-03-13 00:06:00 Author: Pitcard Posts: 779 |
you definitely have a really cool style. And that's what I did instead of learning at school. And now I'm a graphic designer and write comic books. So what's the moral of that story? lol. | 2009-03-14 04:10:00 Author: xkappax Posts: 2569 |
Hehe... Yeah I really couldn't see myself working in an office. Making money out of what I love doing would be too sweet I took a bunch of pics of 3D stuff I did from art class cause I'm preparing a portfolio... most of its from 3 years ago. So I'll post them up next time. | 2009-03-18 15:10:00 Author: Pitcard Posts: 779 |
*mouth hangs open* Those are superb, and because they only are sketches multiply that with two... Watching these makes me feel bad about my drawing skills, i wish i had such a cool style.. and that i could draw using only lines like that... You should upload more pics (like you promise in the title ), you even have some already scanned and uploaded drawings in your profile, so get going and upload! I'm also really excited to see that 3d work of yours. This thread definitely deserves much more attention. /Bump | 2009-03-30 15:52:00 Author: Marklin80 Posts: 458 |
Wow cheers marklin! Ye I love drawing with just about anything, just quick sketches from the top of my head. Most of this stuff is just done with a biro on my school notes. You have no reason to feel bad about your art! Its really great, and I can definitely see it devoloping and improving. I've never really felt that I have a distinct style... but since you say so, it leads me to think that you probably wouldn't notice your own drawing style because its natural to yourself. I can see a style coming along in your own drawings, and don't worry, it'll all come together with practice. I think drawing real things is 100 times better than copying other drawings, but you can learn a lot from comics and manga. I will be adding some soon K? Also I saw your Escher reference of the Drawing hands! Escher is a genius I based a 3D puppet on his Curl-Up creatures. You'll see when I upload it. | 2009-03-30 21:01:00 Author: Pitcard Posts: 779 |
nice =P How about some coloring? | 2009-03-30 21:50:00 Author: snowflakecat Posts: 102 |
cool pics. i really like the bears. do you mind if i put stuff of mine up? even though it says your sketchbook. i like drawing comics but i'm not too good at drawing (especially compared to you or most people) but still like to though. so whatever i put up will be short comics. | 2009-03-31 04:07:00 Author: superBlast Posts: 267 |
Why don't you put them in a thread of your own =P. Also I saw your Escher reference of the Drawing hands! Escher is a genius I based a 3D puppet on his Curl-Up creatures. You'll see when I upload it. Curl-up creatures! I agree that escher is a genious, i had an assignment in school where i was supposed to draw something inspired from his work and in the beginning i wanted to make some optical illusions or tesselations such, but when i looked through all of his work i realized that that would be extremely complicated to do... And I still can't understand how he was able to. BTW: i'm still waiting on the update | 2009-03-31 15:48:00 Author: Marklin80 Posts: 458 |
i can put em in a thread? where? | 2009-03-31 21:47:00 Author: superBlast Posts: 267 |
Why don't you put them in a thread of your own =P. I agree that escher is a genious, that would be genius, genius LOL i haz epic winz!!!!!! but yeah, your sketches rule, do more! | 2009-03-31 21:57:00 Author: Unknown User |
KKKKK Thanks guys, now that more people are actually interested I feel obliged to post more. Tomorrow I'll have some stuff up. I'll check yur thread ir0nmaiden when its up! | 2009-03-31 22:00:00 Author: Pitcard Posts: 779 |
lol i am having a thread now? okk =] actually i ahve one, it is just not very good XD | 2009-03-31 23:02:00 Author: Unknown User |
It has gone more than one day now =P. | 2009-04-02 19:38:00 Author: Marklin80 Posts: 458 |
Sorry you had to wait so long. Been busy polishing my new level This is all stuff done in art class, over the years. http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h230/Wiggles2000/3D%20Art/DSC00124.jpg A puppet kinda based on Eschers Curl-Up. I originally wanted to make a moving model, but was told to make it original. From 3 years ago. http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h230/Wiggles2000/3D%20Art/DSC00137.jpg Wall Mural me and some friends did in school. Its based on the evolution of man........ to robot http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h230/Wiggles2000/3D%20Art/DSC00139.jpg This kinda illustrates a stage when technology develops faster than we can cope with. It takes over and we all become flying R0807z http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h230/Wiggles2000/3D%20Art/DSC00142.jpg Where it all began =_= http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h230/Wiggles2000/3D%20Art/DSC00128.jpg Did this last year.. just a small plaster carving. http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h230/Wiggles2000/3D%20Art/DSC00129.jpg Front of it. http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h230/Wiggles2000/3D%20Art/DSC00132.jpg This is the most recent out of these. From about 2 months ago! Its a puppet! | 2009-04-02 22:00:00 Author: Pitcard Posts: 779 |
dood... i totally love the wall painting thing... I mean... It's REALLY amazing! | 2009-04-02 22:08:00 Author: Yarbone Posts: 3036 |
Thanks yarbone! Me and my mates who helped me really hate looking at it now though........ its been there for 2 years and we did the men too pink! They look like LOBSTER PEOPLE!!! | 2009-04-02 22:14:00 Author: Pitcard Posts: 779 |
O_o... I still like it :3 | 2009-04-03 11:06:00 Author: Yarbone Posts: 3036 |
O.o Those are really cool! Though i must say that i got a little disappointed by the curl up creature, it doesn't seem to be able to curl itself together =P. Are you in some kind of art oriented high school of college? That they let you work with so many different things is pretty cool. | 2009-04-03 19:14:00 Author: Marklin80 Posts: 458 |
Yeah I was disappointed that I couldn't just make a working model. But I had to come up with a more original design, so I just merged it with a rabbit. Its kinda cool, cause its made out of car body filler. Its really heavy I'm in a really small school with barely any facilities... but our art teacher is so sound, and we have a great art room. I'll post more sketches next time though. I haven't done much 3D other than that. | 2009-04-03 20:22:00 Author: Pitcard Posts: 779 |
I wish my school had an art teacher like that... The one we currently have is probably the worst teacher i've ever had . To make it even worse we have a super ambitious music teacher which let us do whatever we want, but i hate music as a subject... | 2009-04-04 13:52:00 Author: Marklin80 Posts: 458 |
That second picture (1st post) kinda looks like Hinata XD Btw, your drawings/paintings aren't bad at all man, keep it going and you'll be able to end up in any art-related job. | 2009-04-05 08:47:00 Author: Silverleon Posts: 6707 |
Thanks leon! I think my two biggest manga influences would be Naruto and Akira, thing is, the creator of Naruto was hugely influenced by Akira. You can see huge similarities in their styles ^^ I also love the art of Blame! and Blade of the Immortal. But apart from manga I'm trying to teach myself to draw with as much knowledge in human anatomy as I can. Once I know how to draw people inside out (no really) I'll be more capable of stylizing my drawings to fit whatever purpose. Its hard to tell where you wanna go with a art related career. I guess I'll go along with whatever opportunity I get. I'll be updating this soon, not too busy next week | 2009-04-13 00:11:00 Author: Pitcard Posts: 779 |
There's a lot of good stuff in here. From the original sketches, I like Ash and the standing bear. I'd take that sketch and get him on a balcony or behind a podium... that could be one politically polarizing charismatic bear. Of the newest posts I really like, well, I'll just call him 'Jester'... he is one uber kool puppet. You can definitely see growth in just what you presented here. Keep at it mate! | 2009-04-25 03:14:00 Author: Gravel Posts: 1308 |
Love your stuff, Pitcard. Especially the first sketch. | 2009-04-25 05:47:00 Author: Morrinn3 Posts: 493 |

Thanks a million, you're right about that bear, if Obama had a bear like that he could sort the world straight! You should seriously make a thread for your comic art. Its really impressive stuff, looks like you've got a fair bitta experience under your belt. Love your stuff, Pitcard. Especially the first sketch. Haha I knew you'd notice that one! I love your Venetian mask avatars. I was over there a couple of months ago and bought 2 really cool ones, both with seriously long beaks. | 2009-04-25 16:20:00 Author: Pitcard Posts: 779 |
I think its okay to bump this back up cause I'm finally finished school, and have the whole summer to get arty farty. Right, so I'm going for a Model Making for Film course, which will involve some CG and 3D design etc... so I want to seriously get a head start over the summer. Photoshop CS4 is where I'm starting my digital journey, but if I have the time I might try my hand at some 3D modelling. I'm on a nice little site called Polykarbon (http://www.polykarbonbbs.com/showthread.php?t=24460), so if I end up not updating this thread, I'll certainly be updating my sketchbook there :O First attempt at a speedpaint in PS, probably 2 hours... if you call that speedy cause I was messing around with the brushes so much. http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h230/Wiggles2000/New%20Leaf%20Sketchbook/IndianHeaddress.jpg Don't ask what kinda hat he's wearing O_o Just completely reffed from a photo, done in Open Canvas http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h230/Wiggles2000/New%20Leaf%20Sketchbook/Smoker.jpg This one was from a couple of months ago for an art exam. Just acrylic on paper. http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h230/Wiggles2000/New%20Leaf%20Sketchbook/P1050755.jpg Moooo >:O I'll take some requests, but they won't be full blown CG pieces. I'll just put all your requested doodles on a big page, but try to be imaginitive! | 2009-06-23 20:48:00 Author: Pitcard Posts: 779 |
I really like your cigarette smoker - very powerful image and you've captured a moment - even if it was from a photo!! Rhy | 2009-06-23 22:46:00 Author: Rhyfelwr Posts: 606 |
That cow thing is imaginative. Did you have inspiration? | 2009-06-23 23:00:00 Author: moleynator Posts: 2914 |
Thank you Rhy, I guess that was down to the photo. It had a nice angle and some good colours so I just tried my best to capture it. Moleynator: The exam question was to come up with an imaginitive composition based on anything from a selection of passages from short stories... The one I chose described a foggy field, where the fog was so thick that they could see cows disembodied heads jutting out of it and thus Cow-Cloud was birthed | 2009-06-23 23:22:00 Author: Pitcard Posts: 779 |
Ooooh. Nice interpretation. I really wish I was good at art... | 2009-06-23 23:24:00 Author: moleynator Posts: 2914 |
Some stuff I've been doing in the last 2 weeks. Probably shoulda kept my sketchbook here instead of briefly migrating to MNRC but now I'm keeping this on up to date! Techno Viking Its a design for the main villain in the Creation Central levelpack... that you guys probably can't remember/don't know about :/ http://img43.imageshack.us/img43/7316/technovikingfullreso.jpg Karin Dreijer Lead singer of The Knife. This is just a photo reffed one... got a bit frustrated and wasn't bothered cleaning it up... http://img407.imageshack.us/img407/6614/karindreijerresized.jpg Ray Stanz Dan Aykroyd's character from Ghostbusters, was requested by Mod5.0 aka littlebigsackboy (ghostbuster fiend) http://img23.imageshack.us/img23/7371/raystanz.jpg Here's some old doodles from '08. They were all over my school notes, so I photo'd them in and cleaned them up. Maybe I'll try dig up some more, its really nostalgic looking back on these since some were the cause of moments of hilarity... http://img123.imageshack.us/img123/2343/schooldwarwings08.jpg These two are some of the ideas and sketches I came up with for a physics project. My aim was to explain the fundamentals of Kung Fu through physics! The old man (Grandmaster Lee) and the turtle (Master Yang) are there to guide you through the project, giving you the definitions and formula http://img22.imageshack.us/img22/9314/kungfuphysics1.jpg Some vector forces, centre of gravity, couples, turning forces, you name it ^^ http://img26.imageshack.us/img26/4053/kungfuphysics2.jpg Two character requests from another forum. Zooey, an ax-wielding, dress wearing adolescent http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/3567/zooey.jpg Jack, a mysterious man clad in cow-wear O_o http://img189.imageshack.us/img189/8540/jackrux.jpg These were really fun, so I'm still looking forward to getting some requests from you guys! The only request I've got so far was the Ray Stanz one from Mod, so keep 'em coming. I'll put all the requests in the OP! | 2009-07-07 23:18:00 Author: Pitcard Posts: 779 |
Nice sketches you got there Pit. I saw some of your stuff on brokenpicturetelephone a few days ago. Just saw your name when I was browsing. Could you possibly draw a cartoon zombie monkey. Or any kind of cartoon mole. YES! A MOLE! Zombie mole, robot mole, wizard mole, bikini mole... the list is endless. Choose at will. Do whatever you wish, interpret however you want. | 2009-07-08 00:58:00 Author: moleynator Posts: 2914 |
You keeping the requests to people? If not can ya have a go at Hamilton's 08 Formula 1 car? and if only people, how about Fernando Alonso or Lewis Hamilton? ..well you DID ask for requests lol | 2009-07-08 01:22:00 Author: Unknown User |
The Karin Dreijer and Ray Stanz (Slimed!) ones are amazing. I do a lot of pencil stuff but never could get the hang of putting colours together like this. Rhy | 2009-07-08 12:53:00 Author: Rhyfelwr Posts: 606 |

Do whatever you wish, interpret however you want. I'll give the zombie monkey and some sort of mole a shot, they'll be up in the OP... might pm you when I'm done. You keeping the requests to people? If not can ya have a go at Hamilton's 08 Formula 1 car? and if only people, how about Fernando Alonso or Lewis Hamilton? ..well you DID ask for requests lol Ehhh... I was kinda expecting more imaginative requests (for example man with toaster for mouth)... not just real things. I don't wanna add more photo reffs to the ones I've already done, cause I usually end up spending waaay too much time on them. Like around 4 or 5 hours. But I might try the Formula 1 car. It'll try make it a quicky too. | 2009-07-08 17:23:00 Author: Pitcard Posts: 779 |
OMG! @_@ That's awesome! The mouse gets punched in the stomach! and.... didn't you do the zombies and the car at iscribble? I mean that was you right? You're awesome... and stuff. Show us more! I think i'm gonna skip showing my stuff... it totally sucks compared to your work >_< | 2009-07-08 17:42:00 Author: Yarbone Posts: 3036 |
Ahh come one now Yarbone. Remember I drew that crappy car. And then you made it all l33t and super realistic. I was impressed seriously If anyone wants to use anything I've drawn for a sig or whatever, or request something to put in a sig go ahead... but I'm not making any sigs for people | 2009-07-08 17:55:00 Author: Pitcard Posts: 779 |
i want to see a sackboy with a mini-gun. Seriously though. It could look really awesome. I've been meaning to draw this for ages, but i'm like really really lazy. xD | 2009-07-08 18:13:00 Author: Yarbone Posts: 3036 |
Been busy in the last few days, but managed to get one request done. I'm working on the minigun sackboy too... but I think I'll do some pencil/pen doodles of that and the zombie monkey/mole rather than full blown CG >_> Here's Hamilton's 08 Formula 1 Car or at least I think it is, requested by IronmaidenFan http://img234.imageshack.us/img234/3976/formula1.jpg Heh, I just got the new Artrage (a seriously realistic painting app, has so many nice tools such as crayons/paint tubes/palette knives/stencils and lots of different types of paper... they've though of everything. So I had a shot at referencing a formula 1 car with some oil paints Took just over an hour. (I'll put all the finished requests up in the OP) This is still a WIP... just downloaded a bunch of photoshop brushes and tried them out http://img41.imageshack.us/img41/8213/nohgeishawip.jpg | 2009-07-11 18:40:00 Author: Pitcard Posts: 779 |
Holy crap Pitcard, the Hamiton one is amazing! i really wish i could do that :'( edit: i think i have artrage, but i would still have no idea where to start to draw a car like that :'( i got it free with my wacom tablet and imac from the apple store though | 2009-07-11 18:48:00 Author: Unknown User |
dude! ....... what's wrong with you?! :O you're way too good xD | 2009-07-12 10:51:00 Author: Yarbone Posts: 3036 |
dude awesome! i love the knife and thats my favorite shot from their videos. great work. omg i just noticed a sketch of someone in a GANTZ suit. freakin awesome | 2009-07-12 22:04:00 Author: Deftmute Posts: 730 |
bows in awe. This work is so rediculously good - get off these boards! Go to real art sites or something... I mean wow! amazing. Edit: If you are still taking requests, see if you can whip up something with a 30's style gangster holding a smoking barrel 6 shooter. Bold contrasting black and white with random traces of colors here and there... I've been working on a comic book called Lucky Shot if you can believe it, where the main character is the son of a cop who got shot by a bullet meant to kill him. He has this incredible luck, which in the end meant that the bullet meant for him "luckily" missed, but ended up killing his old man. So he turns into a gangster to live the life of those who took his family, and get his revenge. So yeah like the cover to a comic style art would be awesome. If not, it's cool I'll make it myself, but it will only be about half as good. | 2009-07-13 00:15:00 Author: LuckyShot Posts: 713 |
I'm still in awe of the Hamilton one! i mean... WTF dude! Also, could you check your PM pitcard? cheers | 2009-07-13 04:38:00 Author: Unknown User |

That actually a portrait of my friend wearing one =_=... he just seems like the kinda character who'd be thrown into gantz haha. bows in awe. This work is so rediculously good - get off these boards! Go to real art sites or something... I mean wow! I'm on Polykarbon, its a fairly small humble art forum... I was there 3 or 4 years ago... took a break, and rejoined this month cause I remembered how awesome a community it was Edit: If you are still taking requests, see if you can whip up something with a 30's style gangster holding a smoking barrel 6 shooter. Bold contrasting black and white with random traces of colors here and there... I'll try get something together... But I'm not promising a finished cover, maybe I'll give you some inspiration to finish it yourself. I'll see how much time I have, thanks for the nice comments though Also, could you check your PM pitcard? cheers Yup just saw it. Nicely done! I dug out another dump load of school doodles. Took a looonng time getting snapshots of all of these and cleaning them up. But it was worth it! It'll be nostalgic looking back on these Spoilers cause slight nudity.... also very long image O_O http://img36.imageshack.us/img36/8100/doodlecollage0708.jpg I drarrwed a SLOTH!
