Reaction Switch

Archive: 20 posts

Reaction Switches have similar properties to those of Sensor Switches, the only difference is, when you're standing in their range, you have to press a Certain button (Most likely Square or Circle, or maybe even Triangle if we got the whole Speech Bubble thing cleared up).
If visible, they will flash when in range.

That's a cool idea but you can already do it. You just need to have a sensor switch beside a piece of tiny grabable material and the action isn't activated until both switches are triggered at the same time.2009-03-11 21:42:00

What if you're already grabbing onto a material that was, say, moving something.
You can easily hit a button to fire while whilst moving.

Reaction switches... you mean like switches for quick-time events? That would be cool indeed. Someone else suggested emotion sensors somewhere. This incorporates the same idea, but perhaps it's easier to iplement because the circle-and-so-on face buttons have a function already, whilst the D-pad buttons don't2009-03-13 14:19:00

Square does not seem to have a function during play mode.

Yeah, I think something cool could be assigned to square and triangle in play mode.2009-03-14 21:46:00

It still brings up the pop it so you can change costumes and use stickers, so yeah it does have a function.

Circle is used to close pop-it menus, but I'm sure it could be integrated. L1 and Triangle are the only TRUE free buttons.

EDIT Oh yeah Triangle for speech bubbles.

1: Circle has no other use, the switch won't activate when it's used to close the pop-it.
2: Triangle is used to open speech bubbles, that could get in the way.

If you really wanted a "quick time event" like sequence, you could always try emitting the buttons? Though i'm not sure how much better a "press X to not die" sequence would be in LBP vs. other games.2009-04-17 03:33:00

L3 And R3 arent Really needed

Well, L3 is already used for switching between Body and Head movement with SIXAXIS.

This would be good as a new tool in a god of war level pack. God of war uses these button pressing minigames as finishing moves.2009-04-17 16:52:00

You forgot about the popit?!? O_o

I think L1 or R3 would be the only buttons left. I prefer L1.

So... Stuff like pressing X to activate a Flinging platform doesn't pass your mind.
