Sharing locked level

Hi, Never done it before so don't know how... I have something I want to show a friend. I have locked the level and published it. This is my only published level. How do I enable my friend to get access to it? Thanks, Neil | 2009-03-10 22:57:00 Author: neilj99 Posts: 38 |
1. Place the Level Key in Create Mode. 2. Use the capture tool around the Level Key to capture it 3. In your goodies bag, press square on the captured level key and send it to your friend. 4. Your friend will download it. Have your friend place the key in create mode on his moon, and then run into it in play mode. 5. This will unlock the level on his planet. | 2009-03-10 23:03:00 Author: RockSauron Posts: 10882 |
Bear with me (create newbie). What level key? Thanks, N. | 2009-03-10 23:13:00 Author: neilj99 Posts: 38 |
Bear with me (create newbie). What level key? Thanks, N. When you publish a level, a level key is added to the tools section of your pop it. Should be at the top of one of the tabs. | 2009-03-10 23:25:00 Author: RockSauron Posts: 10882 |
Gotcha, Thanks, N. | 2009-03-10 23:26:00 Author: neilj99 Posts: 38 |
how do you send and receive stuff from people? Rocky Boy? | 2009-03-10 23:42:00 Author: 01philip01 Posts: 545 |
OR you could place it in create mode and invite him. | 2009-03-11 01:23:00 Author: DRT99 Posts: 431 |
Even easier, invite your friend and enter the locked and published level with him - he will automatically acquire the key. | 2009-03-11 01:35:00 Author: tameturtle Posts: 150 |
You could always make a free level that only accesses a room with a combination, and you give out the combo in a private message, then he can go get the key, and voila. he has the key. | 2009-03-11 04:47:00 Author: dobi6 Posts: 359 |
I'm always eager to learn. How on Earth would I do that? This sounds like fun - I like the technical stuff. N. | 2009-03-12 05:01:00 Author: neilj99 Posts: 38 |
Just make a free level... You can either make a room in it that can only be opened by a combination... or make the level only beatable by a combination. you could make 3 dials, with 10 numbers on them. when you get all three dials right, using an "and" gate, a door would open. heck, you could make it 10 dials if you wanted to. then you just private message them the combo, and they have to go get it. Heck, you could make a regular level puzzle the same way... Just tell people that if they want to beat the level, they have to find a certain combination hidden in the world somehow. The options are endless... | 2009-03-12 05:46:00 Author: dobi6 Posts: 359 |
I've got 6 dials with 8 combos on each. However, the way I have it set is that there is nothing stopping people going 'round the clock' on each dial which will open the gate once they've all gone round. How can I tighten that up? N. | 2009-03-12 12:25:00 Author: neilj99 Posts: 38 |
Well, I am planning on having a combo lock in the level I am working on. I would suggest making them turn the dials, but have that do nothing until they hit a button. Basically hook an "and" switch to the dial and the button. When the dial is on number "9" for example and they hit the button, then that dial extends a piston on another "and" switch - in your case a 6- part "and" switch.... Since they would have to hit the button to get each part to work (and they wouldn't know if it worked until the door open as you can't hear an "and" switch piston if it isn't close) they would have to know the entire combo. I am busy trying to think of a single dial left-right combo lock, that if they screw up, it goes back to the start. But I haven't figured that out yet. | 2009-03-12 15:52:00 Author: dobi6 Posts: 359 |
I see your point, but they could still go 'round the clock' even with the button, i.e. hit each button 8 times - that would also do it (my and switch uses 6 disolves plus block with mag switch). | 2009-03-12 21:06:00 Author: neilj99 Posts: 38 |
OK got it. I changed to a piston system. Works like a dream. N. | 2009-03-12 23:09:00 Author: neilj99 Posts: 38 |
yep... see... the thing is, with the piston thing all set with a big "and" switch, they need to know all the numbers to know to hit the buttons in the first place to activate them, or no luck. | 2009-03-13 06:06:00 Author: dobi6 Posts: 359 |
