Ricotta - A new cheese

Archive: 33 posts

Mm left a very vague comment on their Twitter page today simply saying:

a new cheese has been added today... ricotta

Anyone have any idea what this is about? I'm guessing video streaming!

I've been thinking, how do we actually know that there is going to be online create in Cornish Yarg? I mean, all I've heard from Media Molecule about it is "A patch with new creative abilities."

Me too. Not because I don't like chatting about it - it's just starting to drive me nutso waiting for it. And I don't want to build it up so much that I'll be disappointed with what it turns out to be.

We would see a Killzone mini-pack and then a Killzone pack? hmmm, I don't know but I doubt that.

I know, it could be the things from some of their interviews like a gravity slider or wind direction effects.

The only DLC that was really good was the Metal Gear Solid pack. The rest is fluff. The Valentine and Christmas pack were good but were there only for a limited time. Media Molecule think we want to use the materials in them only around Christmas and Valentine's day in their idiot world.

Yeah, the MGS pack was the only thing I got. I really wanted to make a paintinator level and MM's levels in that pack were just so different from their first levels. If they were to make another level pack with other stuff in and a charachter ability (like the paintinator) then I would definitly get that.

What we really want - let's face it - is a pack with loads of decorations and materials, that we can utilize not only in a themed level but in a variety of different ways. That's why the MGS pack was so good - people went wild with it and made seriously idiosyncratic arenas.

I'm working on a few ideas for themed packs that have materials and deco that would be useful in a myriad of different styles. I'll post the sketches soon...

My levels are generally dark and artificial. That's why I loved the MGS materials. I think that Mm should release some new organic decorations and materials in the next pack.2009-03-22 20:02:00

Sam posted this today at the LittleBigWorkshop forums (http://forums.littlebigworkshop.com/lbp/board/message?board.id=pod&message.id=45576#M45576):

Online creating is still coming but it is not part of the Cornish Yarg update. It is planned to be released as part of an update that also tackles some of the latency issues players have encountered to date.

There'll be plenty more news on the subject when it's a little closer to being ready to go.

So Ricotta may be the online create patch instead.

And this in another thread by Sam (http://forums.littlebigworkshop.com/lbp/board/message?board.id=pod&message.id=45581#M45581):

Yarg isn't far from being released and the few people who had repaired saves back to them were in the minority, and the fix was conducted as part of the testing process. For those who are still waiting for saves to work again we're optimistic that Yarg will help a lot of you out.

More news very soon.

Now let's not rush them.... the only thing worse than waiting is the wonderful feeling of dropping the environment object into your level for the first time and the back of your PS3 starts smoking.

I sure hope they do take their time more than ever since every patch seems to introduce as much bugs as fixes...

Don't rush them! The last time they rushed an update was at Christmas with the MGS pack. Nobody wants a repeat of that...2009-03-24 22:25:00

Well, I wouldn't mind if it was similar to the MGS pack for the sort of things in it but it would be better if more content was put in. The MGS pack didn't have enough levels in my oppinion, they were very fun levels though and it seemed that the MM level creators had got better than when creating their first levels. They were using more logic gates aswell, like in the alert sequences with the wall turrets.

There are more creative options coming soon and Ricotta will deal with that quite a bit. As for more weighty level packs like Metal Gear Solid, there are more coming but they take a lot of work to get organised so expect them infrequently.2009-03-25 16:23:00

Well, new creative tools and opportunities are always welcome (especially tools, power ups and materials since it seems to be rare we receive "neutral" and usefull stickers)

But if stuff like MGS are hard to organise especially because you need to team up with other people, deal IPs and such, we would welcome Media Molecule levels alone. No need to have a theme from another game really.
