[Roughly 15 Fresh-S2] Midseason Livestream Announcement and Production Question

Archive: 4 posts

That's a long title, sorry about that.

Anyhow, if you've been following the series, or the R15F/LBsP Threads this'll be old news, but if you haven't, i'd like to throw out an invitation to any and all to join us for our Season Two Mid-season Bonus Livestream! Yatta! ... *ahem* Anyhow, we'll be streaming to YouTube Saturday, June 2nd 8p JTime (That's GMT +9, so you can work out what that'll be in your neck of the woods). i'll be playing through my queue and/or Recommended for You lists for...i don't know...i'm thinking an hour and a half maybe two hours-ish? i'm hoping any and all will drop by for at least a bit and pester me with questions about...well, anything you like, really.

i shouldn't have to lay out ground rules, because i know you're all decent people, but...well, sometimes CYA isn't necessarily a bad thing. All i ask is folks keep it civil, and if you're unsure if what you're going to say is civil or not, ask yourself "would i say this in person, at the top of my lungs, in a room full of mixed listeners, many of whom have short-tempers and pitchforks?" i really don't expect it to be even a thing, but at least i've laid it out up-front.

Thanks for all the support so far folks, and i hope to see you Saturday!

As for the production question, regular viewers will be aware of my perennial issues with PiPs. Even when i try to kind of time things out, i can only insert a second track 10 times (which gives me 2 PiPs per level), which means that there are things i might have shown that end up on the cutting room floor, so to speak. Sometimes the level bits i'm talking about are close enough that i can string them all together in one or two PiPs, but that doesn't always work, because there's segue language, and sometimes what i need to say takes well longer than the clip i'd like to show. But that got me thinking.

What would y'all think if i strung together one long PiP for each level, and had the clips linked together with, for example, a block of solid colour? That'd let me put in a clip for whatever i wanted to talk about, and it would probably be easier to block out the timings for placement. On the other hand, it would mean the screen would be canted for a longer duration, and the corner would be blocked off whenever there wasn't an actual clip being displayed. On the other, other hand We wouldn't have the screen canting and reverting in quick succession like it does now when we have PiPs that are close together, but not linked.

i haven't put together the PiPs for episode 026 yet, but if you'd like to see the changes implemented for that one, you'll have to let me know quick. Otherwise, i'll hold off working them in until 027.

That's sounding like a fine idea, and I'm hoping that I will find some time to drop by! Many greetings, Jürgen^^2018-05-29 06:20:00

If you want to show the gameplay footage make sure the rating is a little bit shorter. Maybe a limit of 3 minutes per level. I feel like thats already a thing, but I'm not completely sure.2018-05-31 07:36:00

Thanks Jurgen! We'll be glad to have you!

It usually averages out to about 3minutes per level in the outro...actually, maybe a bit under that, since the total outro usually works out to around 13minutes (i don't even plan it that way, just tends to happen). Mostly i was thinking where there's something i need a lot of words about, but the thing is only around a couple of seconds long to actually show. i'm kinda happy with how the PiPs worked out this episode (026), but i'm still going to poke around with it until i get just what i want (probably around episode 052, i bet).
