I really enjoyed playing all the entries with their crazy designs and great soundtracks! Congratulations to the winners! Thank you to the organizers for keeping the play-create-share spirit alive and kicking, hopefully this site still has some more stuff up it's sleeves. In any case it has had a great run and it has been a privilege to be a part of some of the contests through the years. | 2018-03-06 09:10:00 Author: blacksackman Posts: 234 |

There were some very nice entries here! I'm very curious as to your reasoning for choosing Follow Your Dreams as the winner. Whatever it is, we want to see THE CHANGE! If it's a bad change, how did your character(s) solve the problem? If it's a good change, what we?re things like before it happened? Show us in a single, story driven level. You may include cinematics if you like, but we will be judging the interactive gameplay of your level. Cinematics are allowed, but we are judging the gameplay of each level. Take out the intro cinematic and the level description and it's just any other level with gameplay that does not represent the theme of the contest at all. Many other entries had gameplay that demonstrates "change" but this level does not. You said you are judging by the gameplay, yet obviously you did not. | 2018-03-11 01:53:00 Author: AmazingKittyCat Posts: 204 |
The intro was showing a normal day of a sackboy and then it changed into a cool adventure. We were also rating the level design and gameplay aspects and 'Follow your Dreams' had gameplay and it was fun. I think what also has to be mentioned is, that most creators in LBP aren't good with story driven levels, that have to be made in a month or two. So after all the change in a story wasn't too necassary, because there would've been one entry, 'Follow your Dreams'. | 2018-03-11 14:09:00 Author: mdkd99 Posts: 1172 |

It's a very great level and Alex is a great creator, I guess I just misunderstood the "we are judging the gameplay of each level" thing to mean the gameplay has to demonstrate the theme of the contest as well. Thanks for clearing that up. And sorry for questioning your decision. | 2018-03-12 00:18:00 Author: AmazingKittyCat Posts: 204 |
No problem, we are here to answer questions and clear misconceptions. | 2018-03-12 00:27:00 Author: mdkd99 Posts: 1172 |
Hey Shawn, thank you for playing my lvl..... great to see you back in lbp | 2018-03-12 01:01:00 Author: xxAlexInLbpxx Posts: 9 |
I'm a little late to this but thanks for the 2nd place, hope you had fun playing my level and congratulations to the winner. | 2018-03-12 22:30:00 Author: Xev Posts: 8 |
Thanks a lot, Xev, I really enjoyed your fantastic gameplay idea! I always thought, wow, what possibilities would this idea have in a platformer with another visual design! And it remembered me on Zelda: A link to the past, where you could change between the world of light and the world of darkness to reach special areas. Thanks a lot for sharing and many greetings, Jürgen^^ | 2018-03-13 09:01:00 Author: CuriousSack Posts: 3981 |
Yeah, I personally liked the variety of gameplay and the way, how the environment was presented. | 2018-03-13 16:19:00 Author: mdkd99 Posts: 1172 |

Thanks a lot for sharing and many greetings, Jürgen^^ Thanks I'm glad you enjoyed it, I had this idea some time ago so I'm happy I was able to complete it and share it. I haven't played a link to the past but I did play a link between words, I really liked the duality of the game which I think would fit very well with the theme of this contest. Yeah, I personally liked the variety of gameplay and the way, how the environment was presented. Thanks, I was a little skeptical about varying too much the gameplay and leave behind the core idea I had in mind but in this way I think the level was more fun to play and to create for me. | 2018-03-14 00:04:00 Author: Xev Posts: 8 |
Congrats to the winners of this contest and good luck to everyone in future contests! And remember that even if you're level didn't win, I'm sure the judges still enjoyed playing through your level and all the other entries. | 2018-03-17 14:35:00 Author: gurren009 Posts: 2592 |

Is she still missing the crown? | 2018-03-25 09:08:00 Author: Hanfi1311 Posts: 776 |
I don't know. I guess we have to ask her. If not we should probably give Alex the well deserved crown. | 2018-03-25 10:55:00 Author: mdkd99 Posts: 1172 |
Thank you, I got the crown | 2018-03-25 20:39:00 Author: xxAlexInLbpxx Posts: 9 |
Best to put the royalty badge set on your profile This contest is very fun, it is over satisfactory. xxAlexInLBPxx I declare that you are in the Royalty family You are now heir to it, tamed to it, have an advantage to it. Well. Done. As for the rest everyone in this following contest I'd like to say you are worthy <3 | 2018-03-27 12:29:00 Author: MineValubleOres Posts: 35 |
I bet they appreciate the good words. Thanks, man. | 2018-03-27 13:09:00 Author: mdkd99 Posts: 1172 |
I have an idea for our next contest. Before we do something summer related, would it be of interest to the judges if we organize a contest related to "Mothers Day"? I think that would be an interesting theme, and it would be fun to see how creators would build this sort of level. | 2018-04-02 04:07:00 Author: gurren009 Posts: 2592 |
This is an interesting theme for story related contests, but we have seen how 'difficult' it is for some creators to make up a story in a month or two. Maybe we could make such a contest in Dreams next year. | 2018-04-02 07:05:00 Author: mdkd99 Posts: 1172 |
Fantastic idea, but Mother's Day is already in five weeks, one week for organizing the announcement and spreading the info, this would mean only four weeks for the participants to create their entry! Not very much time! | 2018-04-02 09:48:00 Author: CuriousSack Posts: 3981 |
Yeah, that is true. Perhaps we could plan something for Father's Day, but that would seem a little weird since it's still 2 months from now. | 2018-04-02 18:58:00 Author: gurren009 Posts: 2592 |
If it was a contest about making a story it would be difficult and only a few members would participate and not all would create a story. | 2018-04-02 19:47:00 Author: mdkd99 Posts: 1172 |
I agree. We definitely need to make a contest in which members get enough time to see the contest and plan out what they're gonna do. | 2018-04-04 16:05:00 Author: gurren009 Posts: 2592 |
Not only that but also a simple theme and simple task. Story driven levels aren't that easy anymore. | 2018-04-04 16:15:00 Author: mdkd99 Posts: 1172 |
Yeah that is true. People are also busy with work or school, so making a story would be rather time-consuming. Perhaps we could make an LBPC contest allowing players to design whatever theme/story they want, just on a set of a few conditions? For example, you could say that every level has to have a final boss at the end, or that every level has to include a unique type of power up, etc. | 2018-04-05 05:25:00 Author: gurren009 Posts: 2592 |
Maybe something simple like a Cardboard themed platformer would be good. It's simple and everyone can have fun. | 2018-04-05 07:35:00 Author: mdkd99 Posts: 1172 |
Since this thread is still lit I will add something. If I had unlimited time before the deadline I would have made a story-driven level instead. It was going to be an alternate reality story where the collector won, like Wolfenstein. The design was going to be like LBP1 wilderness merged with LBP3 multiple layer style. I had a short script but I'm too lazy to write it down here. Feel free to use the idea of you want! Without the contest I would not have gotten the motivation to finish the entry that I submitted, so I'm thankful for that. All the nice comments and reviews made it well worth it in the end. | 2018-04-05 12:18:00 Author: blacksackman Posts: 234 |
If we ever make a story driven contest, we'll make sure to give the creators at least 2 months of time. | 2018-04-05 22:04:00 Author: mdkd99 Posts: 1172 |
We should try doing a Contraption Challenge, like they used to do on other LBP forums. The goal in those contests is building a really cool object, rather than a full-on level. | 2018-04-06 15:16:00 Author: gurren009 Posts: 2592 |
The Contraption Challenge was a favorite of mine. Nuclearfish and Chimpanzee were doing that contest on this site as well. | 2018-04-07 13:12:00 Author: jwwphotos Posts: 11383 |
Yeah! I remember seeing them on this site too. Stuff like: LBPC CC17, LBC CC18, and so on... | 2018-04-07 16:17:00 Author: gurren009 Posts: 2592 |
Hi friends, fine to have such a vivid discussion about ideas for a future contest! I've opened an extra thread for these ideas so that we finally can close this "(LBPC15) The New Year's Change - The Results" thread! Many greetings, Jürgen^^ | 2018-04-08 09:58:00 Author: CuriousSack Posts: 3981 |
