LittleBigPlanet may be playable on computers via emulation in the near future.

The emulator RPCS3 is on its way to fully emulating LittleBigPlanet 1 through 3! Currently the games look playable, but it probably won't be fully ironed-out until late 2018 or sometime in 2019.

Still, very exciting. With emulation, we can't access the traditional community to share levels. We may need to figure out another way to share levels in the future. I know there's the option to download complete levels to the PS3 - so level files could be shared that way. That would mean players could edit and publish the levels themselves though, as those levels would be put on their Moon.

However, if a website is built to host/share levels, popularity could be deemed through there by download/like counts, and moderation could prevent level stealing. Making a website like that would be a huge effort though - it would practically immortalize LBP though - as PlayStation, Sony, and LBP servers don't last forever, but emulation and a community of level sharing can.

Note: LBPCentral does not condone piracy - I would recommend owning a legitimate copy of LBP before emulating the game.

Video with LittleBigPlanet 3 footage (relevant part at 3:29; please note the video contains footage from other games like God of War, which has m-rated violence):

I wouldn't put it as playable until at least 2020. That's if it does unprecedented emulator development speed.2017-12-02 02:16:00
