Switch Gun Sewer

Hello!

Switch Gun Sewer is my latest creation. Basically you use a gun that can activate switches throughout the level. I made the switch activators last only four seconds and built around that limitation. The level is single player as multiplayer didn't work well, though I published a shorter version of the level that I somehow completed with two people that joined me through the dive in feature in the game.

I'd appreciate feedback, as most of my testing with people through the dive in feature didn't go so well. Nobody seemed to understand what to do in the level. You can't spam the r1 button at all.

I've made a newer level called Sewer Maneuver. It's a brain crane level. It basically takes some ideas from Switch Gun Sewer and my level called The Old House and expounds upon them. I think it's worth checking out.

I should give some credit to mpggsmpggs for inspiring this level. His Ghost Mansion (Platformer) level is really great and I took some ideas from it and hopefully made them my own.

It's a really cool level and I like the use of the brain crane to control the environment but holy difficulty spikes! I'm at a part where there's poop shooting down two pipes so you move a bar to block them so you can walk under and then I'm dropping down a wall and have to use the brain crane at the same time to lift a gate and bounce through and I've given up. I managed to make it through one time and then died on the next part which required me to do it all over again and I just can't seem to do it again. I'm leaving it in my "to play" playlist though because I have enjoyed the parts leading up to this so much and perhaps I'll be able to do it eventually.

Update: After countless deaths I finally completed this level! I missed one secret and while that bothers me I'm not sure I have it in me to try and go through that again.

Update to the update: It did bother me enough that I finally found the fourth secret and now have the high score on your level. I want to say thanks for making me want to rage quit but making it doable to the point where I could probably get through without dying now.

You did a great job of combining puzzle elements with using the brain crane to manipulate the environment which I really enjoyed. Thanks for making such a fun level!

I'm trying to play Switch Gun Sewer but I can't get the gun at the start of the level. There's just a green cog icon. If I press circle there's nothing to choose. Do I need to own a certain DLC to play the level?

Thanks for your feedback on Sewer Maneuver roobieroo. I didn't think the part with the spikes was overly difficult but maybe it is.

As far as Switch Gun Sewer goes, I don't know what the problem is. I just updated the level a little while ago and maybe I messed something up but it works for me. I'll definitely try to fix it.

Update: I checked out the level on my earth and in create mode and can't find a problem. One person who played it had a bug where they got all the story mode power ups and couldn't get the switch gun, but that problem seemed to resolve itself. Maybe something similar is happening? I don't really know.

There have been a number of other levels where I couldn't get a power up, I get a similar cog icon and I've only found one other person who has reported a similar issue. It's a bummer because it keeps me from playing what look like very cool levels but thanks for looking into it. I tried to accept your invite but I get an error message "failed to join game." Oh well.

I'm a new LBP player so the mechanic of using the left stick to stay on the wall while using the right to control the brain crane took me a while to figure out. Thanks again for making such a fun level.

Did you do something? I finally see the gun!

This seems to be a semi-persistent issue with some community levels. i've had levels where the power-up was there the first playthrough, then gone the next time, with no level update in between. i don't know why it happens, but it may be worth it to try closing out of the game, then coming back in and trying it again.

Thanks for your interest in my levels mdkd99. I'm able to put lots of time into LBP3 currently and want to improve as a creator so I build as much as I can. I also re-use themes and gameplay a little too much which is something I will try to do less of.
