Advanced Logic Giveaway

Archive: 5 posts

Some (if there are any left) of my PSN friends and/or... fans, know that I've been promising a logic giveaway for quite some time.
I just never really got around to it... until the past 2 days.

While I've been attempting to revive Axis-3D, I've been making a load of chips to fill that "profile is corrupt" void in my chest.
Maybe it was a means to relax, or ease the process of reviving the engine... who knows.

Anyways, I poorly dolled up Axis-3D 1.4 to act as the engine running my giveaway level! YAY!!!

Now you too can have Rollover Timers, Trig Chips, Misc. Math Chips, and other relatively useless analogue microchips!
I used these chips to make Axis-3D from the beginning, and I even show off the logic of the engine in some videos.
So see if you can't make an Axis-3D for yourself...

A quick reminder, most of the chips in this giveaway are zero-latency, but some require signal laggers/feedback loops to operate.
I've written out the specifics for each item in their descriptions; found by pressing triangle when up against a prize-bubble.
Let me know what you think of the terrible level and the chips themselves here!

Just found out recently when working with some of this logic, the Equal To microchip has its final output inverted for some reason.
I can fix this on my end and republish the level.
But if you've already gathered the prizes, open up the Equal To microchip, locate the furthest right bit of logic, and tweak it from inverted to not inverted. Honestly don't know why I captured it with that tweak... huh.

Also, do not use the Rollover Timer for position tracking!
The fact that its rollover transitions from 100% to -100% discounts its eligibility for perfect tracking.

Explanation:
This is because, in a circle, 180? is equal to -180?.
To mimic true rotation and tracking, you wouldn't say:
178?, 179?, 180?, -180?, -179?, -178?, etc.

What you want is:
178?, 179?, +/- 180?, -179?, -178?, etc. (the 180?and -180? would combine)

I've equated +/- 100% to +/- 180? in my logic. So listing the previous series in terms of percentages:
98%, 99%, +/- 100%, -99%, -98%, etc.

So... the current Rollover Timer is nice because LBP as a whole, still views both the positive and negative 100% as different values.
For that reason, I'll leave the Rollover Timer intact. But this new guy... I'll call the Rollover Positionator.

I'm very carefully testing the new chip to make sure it's capable of perfect tracking; no matter the number of rollovers or crazy inputs.
I'll keep future chip updates in this thread.

Man, I still haven't been able to play this! My ps4 internet is being funky with move-in to college, so I'll probably get it fixed in a week. I love how how the reviews are like, wow, 3d! Can you make a platformer just so we can see it? It's like when I help someone pluck out notes on piano for singing and then they ask me if I can "just play the song." I laugh and just stare at them.2017-09-01 17:24:00

Let me know what you think.

Quick logic update:
I've given up on the Rollover Positionator mentioned in my previous post. I've put a lot of thought into functions and equations that the game might use to come up with its analogue values...
No matter what I do, LBP just doesn't work so well with such things. Oh well.

There's still some new stuff that isn't in the giveaway, but I think I'll save them for Axis-3Ds release.
