What were your favorite memories from LBP?

Archive: 13 posts

I remember when I was younger, and I first saw the LBP2 trailer here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oy_a3oCDzRA

Way back in 2010, and I watchet it so many times in hopes that I'd get it one day. "Sleepyhead Passion Pit" is such a nostalgic beat!

I started playing LBP1 around late 2009, early 2010. It was a whole new experience to me. To this day I can't find a game series more creative than LBP.

Anyways, what are your must memorable moments from LBP?

My best memories have been the long online midnight sessions with all the fantastic friends! Lbp has been the first game that I played online at all! And also the only game, that brought me to get active in a forum! 2017-06-14 23:48:00

I loved finding all the level glitches in LBP 2 and 3! They made for some really good laughs. I have also yet to discover any errors within LBP1...

I also really loved playing with my dear sister; she always made things entertaining xD.

All those times I've spent creating something only to abandon the project - Those are pretty good memories! 2017-06-15 06:00:00

Hahaha, thinking about my best memories I remembered all the occasional joinings from random people with all their crazy stuff that they wanted to show, mostly highly explosive or rather quirky creations! They often behaved like hilarious young whelps and did a lot of chaos, but its been totally funny! Soon I created a special "Visitor's" space on my moon, where they could run riot and I nevertheless could stay relaxed!

Many greetings, Jürgen^^

Haha! I agree! I loved back on LBP2, when you could just mess in create mode with your friends! I actually preferred the 3 layers from LBP1 and 2.

I've had quite many memorable moments in LBP series, especially in LBP1 and LBP2, where I first started to play with other people online.

Once, I was playing with a friend on LBP2, when she made us dive into a random pod. In that pod was the host guy and some other guy who seemed to be jerking around. The host asked us if we would like to test his new level on moon and we agreed.

When we entered the level, it was almost like one of those "100 Jumps" levels, except this level had more different obstacles, nice music category at the beginning and fun details on every obstacle and different challenges as you go further on the level. It was also hard but fair!

The host guy asked our opinions. My friend said it's very good level. Then the guy who jerked around said it was total crap.

Then the host started to beat that guy down the obstacles into the lava all the time, saying "I spend lots of work to this, it has much more original content than most levels on hot anyways!" Then I joined the fight and we started beating that jerk together. I said something like "This level is well made and entertaining, how can you say those things? If you don't like it then leave."

But the jerk just tried to ruin our attempts on that level. If you die in it you go back to the very beginning, and beating that level could take an hour easily. But we had tons of fun for giving that guy what he deserved! You could say that we all started to jerk around except my friend, who was reaching the end of the level while me and the host were busy killing that jerk.

After a while, the guy left to his pod and the host became one of my best friends on LBP and we created many levels after that. It was a legendary meeting for the both of us and nowadays we just laugh ourselves to tears at the whole thing.

I couldn't stop laughing when all this happened that day.

Haha! Diving in used to be the best way to make friends on LBP! I also enjoyed LBP3's dive-in 2017-06-18 02:17:00

I have very fond memories of LBP. Like when I first played it when I got my PS3 in January 2009, or when I first played online on LBP, when I first found out what the paintball gun was all about and got the Metal Gear Solid pack- then there was the announcement of water and then the Pirates of the Caribbean pack, and not to forget the announcement of LBP2 which had me consistently watching the reveal trailer for months.

I have so many fond memories of this game and community. I loved staying up literally till the sun came up playing with my friends on one of our moons creating levels, or trying to get the 4x, 3x and 2x player gift bubbles- or playing bomb survivals, shark survivals, zombie survival and titanic survivals until our tired little eyes were popping out of our head.

This game has such a special place in my heart and I reckon it always will- a lot of my childhood centres on this game, the sad part is that times seem so much simpler back then.

Hi Awesome_Guy,

let me tell you from an old man...each time of life can be an exciting adventure if you keep your heart young! So no time to feel sad! There are princesses to be rescued, dragons to be fought and treasures to be found!

Many greetings, Jürgen^^

I also agree! Much of my childhood was, and still is, in LBP! I was just a kid when my brother got LBP1 for me in 2009/2010. Man have I loved it since!

I got LBP in my first year of highschool and I'm still playing it 8 years later! I know I'll keep playing until the servers shut down!!

I was a member of an unofficial Newgrounds Portal Patrol in 2009 so I went into LBP with that same militant obsession with quality. To me, levels were either great, or they weren't worthy of taking up the little bandwidth they used. I constantly gave levels one-star ratings for not being detailed enough, for having spelling errors, and plenty other minor things.
I don't recall getting into any big flamewars in LBP1 outside of a dude throwing a hissy fit over me giving his "Join My Clan" level a bad rating.
I got in a ton, and I mean a TON of flamewars in LBP2 though. One that I'll never forget is when I downvoted some girl's corny level about brooding and darkness, and her friends mass downvoted all my levels and attacked me in the comments. I reported them all and got them banned multiple times over. I also made a few junk levels making fun of all the people who gave me trouble. I think I took them down though. Can't be bothered to check.

...

I also have positive memories of LBP...
Seeing the LBP2 reveal at E3 was the happiest I'd ever been in a long time. Hearing Sleepyhead play in the intro made my heart sink.
I had a beta key for LBPKarting and LBP3. I don't think I got a beta for LBP2, but I know I watched every bit of gameplay footage I could find. Seeing all those tools being used for the first time was magical.

LBP3 had the potential to be my favorite once the bugs were all kinked out. But I was too busy with school so I didn't have much time to play it. It's really cool how people found ways to make a primitive kind of 3D platformer. They were fun to play with on PS3 but I can't seem to find them on PS4. Weird...

LBPPSP had the worst physics, but the music was fantastic and it had some unforgettable levels. The usermade levels were nothing to sneeze at either. One specifically that I'll never forget is called "Now & Then", which was about time traveling to save your son. There was also a well put-together metroidvania stage. I hated how LBPPSP only had two layers to work with, but looking back, it was definitely for the better.

Anyone who follows me knows about my obsession with 3D platformers. There was an interview with an LBPK dev at some kinda game expo where he said sackboy could get out of the kart and walk around. It made me super hype for Karting, and obviously I was left super disappointed when that turned out to be false. I still enjoyed LBPK in the end for what it was, but the input lag on vehicles that weren't carts certainly left a sour taste in my mouth. I'd buy a PS4 port to be quite honest.

I could never forget LBPVita. Some of my most proud creations are sitting on my vita earth. LBPV was an odd case though. It had a memorable cast of creepy looking characters, but also the most forgettable soundtrack. The only songs I remember was Off The Hook and that drum & bass remix of Night on Bald Mountain. I remember LBPV having a lot of D&B that all just sounded the same.

I've been playing LBP for longer than some of my relatives have been alive. I'd love for an LBP4, but I don't think there's anything more they can do, aside from building a new engine from the ground up. And that's sure as heck not gonna happen.
If Dreams doesn't scratch my itch for a 3D platform game maker, then I'll just have to use... actual 3D game making software! Yuck!!!
