Howdy Folks

Hello everybody at lbpcentral, I go by the name Fatoldsweaty as you can see, and its nice to join this community finally, at least I think it will be nice, I've only been here for a short time, and I've already seen a lot of helpful things about lbp.

I've been playing lbp since lbp2 a few years back, never did play the first game, didnt have a ps3 at the time it was hot, anywho my little brother got lbp2 for christmas a few years back and I seen it and was instantly amazed, I mean, I had seen stuff about lbp1 but, I didn't quite realize what a beast the game was, I didn't know how good its creative tools were, and the extent of possibilities the game provided, I thought it was just a cutsie little Mario rip off type game. It was nice to find out I was wrong, I used to play lbp2 with my little brother and when he would go to bed I would stay up like all night making stuff in create mode.

Anyways after about 2 years of me playing my little brothers lbp2 game once in awhile, I finally got lbp3, my mom actually got it for me for a birthday present because I was always talking about how awesome lbp was, and how its like an all in one art and sound studio, with everything you need to have a blast platforming, making creative inventions or whatever you want.

My favorite types of games were always the more serious games, like action or military shooter type games, I was never huge on stuff like mario and sonic, don't get me wrong I've definitely played my fair share of those kinds of games, and enjoyed lots of them at that.

One of the most appealing things about lbp to me was the things people made or you could make like guns, swords, army tanks, zombies, helicopters...ect I could go on and on, I remember my little brother getting a pretty cool godzilla that you could drive and also he had this sword like clouds from final fantasy 7, He used to drive the Godzilla and I'd be flipping around trying to fight his Godzilla with the cloud sword, getting flung all around all hectically and crazy, times like that were just indescribable fun, I could get the sword lodged in the Godzillas joints and stuff and knock pieces of it off sometimes, even though the Godzilla was invincible with indestructible material tweakers, it seems like I could go on forever about similar things to this.

I was a huge fan of the guns people made in lbp2, but, they were definitely wonky to say the least, trying to aim them left would usually make them flip upside down, and sackboy also looked like he was dragging them around usually, which looked kinda bad, but was still awesome. When I got lbp3 I didn't know anything about it besides it had new characters, I was sooooooooooooooo happy to find the blaster handle power up, making it where you can make your own power ups, like guns or swords, I love that and its one of my main focuses in most of my lbp3 levels.

I could rant about lbp forever sooo I'll just say what my main focuses are in lbp currently.

Ok I've been working on logic for characters since lbp2, with sackbots, since lbp3 I've been remaking and reorginizing old ideas I had for logic in lbp2 like working life and stamina bars, player hit detection collision reactions, and such.

I noticed most of the zombies and enemies in general in lbp are a bit wonky? Like people usually make zombies use a lethal effect when you get close to them, thats how I made a zombie in lbp2, but, in lbp3 I was able to make a pretty cool effect for the zombie, my zombie grabs you and plays animations that make it look like its biting you, it has a sequencer with a tag on it that loops when it grabs you, my characters health logic is affected by this tag, causing the characters health to drop by one hit every time the sequencer loops, also there's a timer that starts a broadcast microchip, after a few seconds the broadcast kills the player with a player killer logic thing, to me that's a little better than using the lethal method, however the lethal method is much easier, I'm not tryin to brag really, but I do think my bad guys are pretty well made.

I also made sackbot enemies that patrol, with a few different ranges of logic and reactions, these enemies use a gun, the sack in black gun actually, to shoot at you when you are detected, if you get 2 close they run from you and if you get right next to them they punch you, also using a tag that affects my characters health bar.

These Sackbots are programmed to shoot at certain tags, I was also able to make allies for the player that will shoot at the "Badguys", (the Sackbots use custom animations while shooting to appear as though they are aiming)

I actually Have a problem I need help with, if anybody knows anything about it it would be very nice to hear.
My problem is that when I use emitters to spawn my badguys, my badguys bullets or projectiles emit in the wrong layer almost always, and I have no idea why they do this, I've tried everything I could think of to no avail except for one thing that worked somehow. The thing that worked was acheived on accident also, it just so happens that I was remaking Area 1 from a game called Bionic Commando. In that game the badguys often parachute down from the sky, even inside of building...lol
Anyways I made an enemy that has a parachute bolted to him, these enemies seem to spawn fine with the're emitters emitting correctly in the right layer most of the time, but they are pretty old now and I've made much better enemies since them, I just dont wanna have to bolt a sticker panel to every enemy I spawn if I can help it, soo any help on that would be hot.

Hello Fatoldsweaty! (That name though)

Welcome to LBPC! I really like your ideas. What you describe sounds interesting and fun. If you could ever finish a playable little fight I'd be really happy. Your logic is really advanced.

If I can help you, I'll tell you.

Enjoy your stay!

Heya, fatoldsweaty!

And welcome to the forums! The start of your LBP journey is pretty similar with mine. I also played with my brother(s), messed around in the moon and created some crazy things in LBP1!

I think you will get help from the forum or from its amazing members. And I agree with you, when the enemy sackbots use animations to kill your character, it's always better than the instant boring lethal fire etc.

Enjoy your stay and keep embracing your dreams!

See ya!

Hi Fatoldsweaty,

and also welcome from me, nice to meet you! Zombies that bite, godzillas and cloud swords...I see you are the right guy to be a worthy member of our community!
There are lots of people who have problems with the emitters and Sumo seems not to be able to fix them! The emitters seem to react strange especially if the emitted objects are taken out of the objects bag. I have good experiences when the emitted object is taken from the editor, I mean place the object, that you want to emit, on your editor, then grab it with the emitter! Afterwards you can delete the object from the editor again! I hope this is helpful and I wish you luck, many greetings, Jürgen^^

Thanks for the welcome everybody, glad to meet you too.

@mdkd99 Thanks if I ever pull something together I'll try and let you know.

@CuriousSack I actually did know about that, but thanks for mentioning it just in case I didn't know, its a no guarantee solution though, I'd like to find something solid if I can.

I'll probably make some threads, and try to get a little active in the community, eventually when I get some time, in the mean while have fun.
