How was your LBP2 experience different from your LBP3 experience?

Archive: 3 posts

Hey guys! This is just an opinion thread. How was your experience in LBP2 different from your experience in LBP3?

For me, this was my experience:

I definitely loved the levels in LBP3. I know I have criticized LBP3 a lot in the past, but it is by far the most fun LBP game in terms of levels. I definitely loved the gameplay with Sackboy, Oddsock, Swoop, and the Toggles!

That's why I was so disappointed with the online of LBP3, which has yet to be fixed. The problem is, like on LBP2, that everything is on 1 server. If they had changed LBP's online from the start, and made it so that you have to join separate servers, I think that would be a much better experience. The online was a big downer for me when it came to LBP3.

I also feel that diving in, being limited to only people who host servers, was bad. I think I prefer the one in LBP2, where it would let join anyone who didn't turn off the "let players join you" in the options menu. I made so many more memories on LBP1 and LBP2 because the online was just so dang good. In fact, I hardly remember the last time I played with friends in create mode, where we just do random stuff. Remember those moments in LBP where you and your friends would just play around in create mode? Well, those are gone for me, as that was way back in LBP2. I LBP3, I can't seem to join anyone, and glitches make the experience so much worse.

Not to mention I prefer the pod's music theme in LBP2 to the one in LBP3. LBP3's one is okay, but there's just not enough "enthusiasm" in it. It was just really bland, which I didn't like. I also initially didn't like LBP3's user interface as well.

TLDR: I love the levels in LBP3, but I prefer the online from LBP2, the user interface in LBP2, the pod theme in LBP2, the online being stable in create mode in LBP2, and much more.

So I guess that's why part of me still feels angry that LBP3 essentially, stole the LBP2 community and sent them all to LBP3. I would love if there we're still people playing LBP2, but of course, I can get past that. I still love LBP3 to a great degree, but the lack of stable online, the disappointing dive-in system (which I think is a draw back from the LBP2 one, where it wasn't limited by people who hosted servers), and how the create mode didn't add enough new logic(don't get me wrong, I loved the additions that LBP3 did add to the create mode, but I wanted something more groundbreaking, like a professional 3D camera mode, which would've been a great improvement), I just feel a lot of lasting disappointments in LBP3. I don't hate LBP3 because its bad, I hate it because it's so good, and there were some many improvements made from LBP1 and 2, that it just had so much wasted potential. But all in all, it is a great game .

So what about you guys? How was your experience different in LBP2 than in LBP3?

In LBP2 I fell in love with the music sequencers and the instruments. The movie making was also exciting. The story in LBP2 was also quite good.

In LBP3, the story seemed awesome at first, but then some levels got literally broken. The levels didn't load some buildings or you just fell straight out from the level and died. I couldn't play some minigames because of it and getting all trophies became an impossibility. When I played with my friends, it usually took an hour until we finally could play at all because the connection sucked so hard.

And finally, I got disappointed to the lack of new things to the music sequencer. I moved back to LBP2, because music making isn't as glitchy like in LBP3 and the instruments in LBP3 were not necessary at all for me.

My experience with LittleBigPlanet 3:

The levels in LittleBigPlanet 3 were easy! I mostly ace levels, but these levels were really easy, I rarely even died. You know, I much preferred LittleBigPlanet 2's story, as it was much harder. Especially those link levels. They give me nightmares just thinking about them. Although the bosses were interesting, they all involved running away, which was kind of tiring, LittleBigPlanet 2's bosses mostly invlolved surviving waves of attacks, and from what I recall, only one boss made you run, and it was giant robotic chicken. Not a bit of chain, or a cool-looking squid. A giant robotic chicken.

It's a lot easier to play with other people in LittleBigPlanet 2, than it is in LittleBigPlanet 3, and I don't think number 3 sucked everybody away, not at all. I still get tons of requests for slimes trying to join my pod. Though, I don't play with other as much as I used to, but that's more of a personal reason.

Create mode - There's nothing wrong with LittleBigPlanet 3's create mode, though I'm much more familiar with LittleBigPlanet 2's create mode. That's kind-of all I have to say about it.

I'm tired. I might continue this list, but for now, I'm going to let other people have their say.
