Do you think Mm's game Dreams? Should be on PS3 too?

Archive: 22 posts

Dang Media Molecule's new Game Dreams? looks pretty neat but sadly it's going to be on PS4 to me it doesn't seem fair to those who have A PS3 they chose the game to be on PS4 and I respect that but what about other people who don't have it I wanted to play Tearaway but that's on PSVita I don't have that and the only time I got to play a PS4 was at a Hotel when I went to be VIP for 3 days. You guys might not want the game to be a PS3 version but I/ some people do your watching other people playing it while your just sitting out in the sidelines gazing and wanting to play Dreams? yourself but oh no you only have a PS3 I have a PS3 myself and I want to play those PS4 games. In my opinion I just wish all PS4 games can be played on a PS3 and could still be played on a PS4 you see what I'm trying to say?2016-10-31 20:57:00

Putting it on PS3 is a bad idea, since Cross-Generation games have never turned out well(at least those who try to cross online, like LBP3 and how no one could connect online at launch). It would be nice to have Dreams on PS3, but this is a PS4-only experience. I'm even thinking MM is thinking of putting Playstation VR on it too, and that's technology way out of the PS3's league. LBP3 was a good lesson that sometimes you just gotta leave the old behind and move on to the future. Then again, putting LBP3 on PS3 was a good thing for sales because while there were a good amount of LBP fans on PS4, there were more on PS3. Again, I really wish PS3 players can experience amazing games on PS4, but the large amount of glitches with LBP3's initial launch show that sometimes, you just gotta move on .2016-10-31 21:28:00

Could Dreams work on PS3?
Short answer: No. Long answer: Nooooooooooo-

...ok, but really. Dreams on PS3 would not be a good idea. For one, the game was already designed with PS4 in mind, so making a PS3 version would just mean less time to work on the PS4 version, since they'd have to optimise it to run on PS3 with minimal issues. And if everything the community made in Dreams had to work on both PS3 and PS4 similar to what LBP3 does, they'd have to spend yet more time making sure everything worked on both platforms. They'd have to tweak, alter or potentially remove features just so the PS3 version can play PS4 levels, and vice versa.

And to be blunt, I don't think that's a trade-off that anyone excited for the creation aspect of Dreams would be happy with. I'd rather have a robust toolset on one platform only, than potentially scrapping features and content in an attempt to keep the game running smoothly on two platforms with different levels of power.

The 7th Generation of consoles is basically on it's deathbed now anyway, so other than helping those that don't have a PS4 save money, I don't think Mm have anything to gain from making a PS3 version of Dreams. That's just me though.

Yeah from these comments I read it's pretty much telling me these 3 things: I have to move on 2: PS4 games stay PS4 games 3: It's the Creator's choice. even if everyone has the game but me I won't be alone

Well.. for one, the PS3 is quite old tech now in terms of graphics. I would hate to limit Mm because of basically a 10 year old gfx card.2016-11-02 02:03:00

I own a PS4 and PS3.

It should come out for PS4 only. The PS3 hardware is old. Optimizing it for this old system would make some guys happy, but it can't work with really good graphics and support.

A PS4 isn't that expensive. And no, it's not bad, to have a PS4. And you are not better, if you hate something, many players like.

The PS4 offers more power and some more features. So don't get me wrong, OK?

Yeah you can do a little more than a PS3 Maybe I will buy one I can record videos without a capture card and I always wanted to record videos and tell me about those graphics the only chance I got to play the PS4 was at a hotel where I was VIP for 3 days and I got play Tearaway Unfolded

All good things come to an end and the PS3 had a solid 7 years as a main system plus about a year or so of some major games being cross gen its one of the the better runs a console has had.

Don't worry too much about getting a PS4 just yet, Dreams is probably a mnimum of a year away. There's hundreds of PS3 games available and most should be cheap by now you should hopefully find enough to pass the time until dreams eventually releases and hopefully there will be cheaper PS4s available by that time.

Honestly, LBP3 turned out fantastically for being developed for 2 consoles of different eras. I do not think any game can come close to how well it did with such network heavy elements. That being said, people still complained about it, because it's just hard. I am on a no for Dreams PS32016-11-08 23:06:00

I know but I don't want to be left out when the game comes out.

Yeah, that's how I felt initially when I saw the trailer for LBP3 back in June 2014. I really wanted it to come out for both PS3 and 4, but it was clear it was something meant for PS4 only .

We are not going to have another cross-gen debacle. I would hate to see that. I don't have a PS4 readily available, but I am planning on getting one when Dreams comes out, or if they have some sort of bundle.

As for being left behind, tis the way of technology. It sucks, but there really is no fix since the older tech can't support what the newer game would need. I don't even think they would be able to have something to where you could ONLY play levels made in 'PS4 Dreams', on the PS3. I think the tech would still be too inefficient.

Besides. It's a year from now, possibly much more, and PS4s are actually fairly cheap since they are making these newer ones.

Definitely. And LBP3 still has some creation and multiplayer issues that haven't been fixed, and while some issues continue to be fixed with patches, new bugs come with each patch. It's like it's an endless cycle

NO !

It's my belief that LBP3 would have far greater and had pushed beyond its boundaries if had not been held back by the PS3. I've been against the idea since day 1 because of that reason. Don't get me wrong, I like cross-platform releases when it works but in the case of LBP3, all we got was a truckload of problems and a game held back by the PS3. Just imagine how greater LBP3 would of been...

So, no. I'm very happy that Dreams is a PS4 exclusive. It's gonna make the best out of far stronger hardware and in the end it means we'll only have a tremendously better creating tool. What they've shown so far is nothing short of ground-breaking and incredibly promising and most if not all of it would not have been possible on PS3!

Haha, I bought my PS4 weeks ago for 270€. And it was new and in the original box with extras like the headset.

LBP3 costs 14€ in the store until the 25st of november. I will get it.

Putting Dreams on PS3 is like putting LBP3 on PS3, which is like putting Super Mario 64 on NES.2017-08-01 00:15:00

Hahaha, yep, Sackman201, you're right! I started playing Nintendo on the SNES, its been my first console, I loved all Super Mario Games, but when Super Mario 64 was announced for the N64, everybody was excited! Real 3D movements, fantastic visuals and so much more possibilities! Its been a quantum leap in the development of video game consoles. And its been the first and only time that I pre-ordered a console.
Super Mario 64 on the SNES, no chance! Dreams for the PS3...no chance!

NO.
NO.
NO.
the PS3's hardware is really old at this point, not to mention it's not really being used by anyone anymore. it wouldn't be a good idea financially, and it wouldn't be a good idea when it comes to the game's quality as they'd have to spend time and resources they could use for making the PS4 version to make the PS3 port work fine.
it'd be a mess.

Yes I agree. The PS3 had its time. But we have to move on and use stronger hardware. 2017-09-23 10:04:00
