Custom Sackthing Animations + Layer Change
Archive: 5 posts
Hey there. So, I've been playing around with the Broadcast Microchip and the Animation Tweaker for some in-game movement, however, I notice that any animation I use overrides the layer-change leg movements. So, for instance, if I have an idle animation, and a player moved forward/backwards through the layers, the animation rigidly slides across the floor. I thought I would be able to disable the animation temporarily with a Speed Sensor looking for Forwards/Backward movement, unfortunately this tool feature doesn't seem to work on Sackthing, only on objects. What's the best solution to detect layer-movement, without setting up tags on each individual layer or something like that? | 2016-08-28 21:42:00 Author: Ostler5000 Posts: 1017 |
Maybe try the speed sensor again, but set the speed to detect to be either 1 or 0.1 for forwards or backwards, so whenever they move in between layers, it will always activate. | 2016-08-29 03:47:00 Author: Zachinator Posts: 120 |
You could have a block that has a thin layer in front and back detect if it hits the sackboy. If it does, it then changes layers and follows him. | 2016-09-01 03:52:00 Author: koltonaugust Posts: 1382 |
I've found that a Speed Sensor applied to the player is unrealiable when set to detect In/Out movement. It will occassionally work, but only very rarely. This is frustrating since it does work for directional movement. I would have a piece of 1 layer thick invisible material following the player, with an In/Out Speed Sensor on the material. Then have the Speed Sensor trigger a Tag, which in turn disables your custom character animations. | 2016-09-01 20:35:00 Author: Pookachoo Posts: 838 |

This is the most efficient answer, thanks. | 2016-09-01 20:55:00 Author: Ostler5000 Posts: 1017 |
