AAAAAaaaaaand... Here is a little teeny tiny tease of something that I have been on and off of. Big breaks taken in between since real life likes to butt in, but a new invigoration of wanting to work on levels has brought me back once again!

So here is an err... "Demo". A lot of stuff is still not added in, which will come in time, but I figured I would give a small show because I have been wanting some feedback on it for quite some time, which might actually make me want to work on it even more. Because it is always nice to know someone is looking at your work, even if it is bad.

This is the 'start screen level' since the 'Adventure Map" format wasn't doing it for me. It's just not as interactive or informative as I want it to be. Then again, I may not need as much as I think I will need, so for now, this is what is being teased, but there will be much more added for the player to explore and what-have-you. For now though, enjoy what little I can give so far!

Feel free to give feedback and all that jazz. AND! If you are of the musical persuasion, I am also looking for someone to make a song for the level. I have some of the LBP3 tracks picked out already, but having original music would be great! I made a thread for that a while back, and here it is! The Thread! Hi Devious_Oatmeal,

I'm permanently creating music, so I could try to do my next song in a horror style. I can't promise anything, but if I have a fitting idea, I will contact you! First have to listen to some Silent Hill music to get an idea of how the music should sound!

Many greetings, Jürgen^^

That's great to hear! Although it doesn't HAVE to be Silent Hill-ish. Just a horror feeling is really it. Something that fits the mood of the gameplay in the level, and I'll certainly use it in future levels and whatnot with credits to you.

I also can't make any promises myself in whether I will use it, BUT! I do have some other stuff to add to the level, like, a lot of stuff, and I may actually be able to use it and some other songs that you have with one of the mechanics in the level. It's a maybe, but it might work.

Thats no problem, all songs that I compose will sometime find a place in one of my future music galleries, so if you wouldn't use a song then this would be no catastrophy to me...I would only feel depressed a little bit...this would be slightly frustrating...
...it would be a disaster...
...
...oh nooooooooooo! I wouldn't be able to compose anymore!...

So I went to your music gallery level, and I liked some of what I heard! And the design of the MP3/Record player was neat. I'll be looking forward to your horror music!

PS: To anyone that has played the level, I would really like to hear if the level even works. i used some odd logic in it and I am not entirely sure if what y'all play is actually what I made. Same goes with things like it being too dark, too bright, or sounds seem off.

The first thing I thought of when opening this level was Silent Hill, it was chilling, especially those laughing statues, they make reoccurring appearances in my dreams.

I'm terrible at puzzle solving and object transference but I'm going to have another whack at this level in the future, good stuff Devious.

Laughing statues? I probably have missed some areals...you've created a really amazing scenery, and I'm nearly relieved that you didn't add some spooky music, cause this would have increased my tension enormously. and just imagining, that there sometime will be some ghosts or even worse creatures in that floors or halls makes me get some goosebumps.
This is a really promising horror level project! Fine work so far!

Many greetings, Jürgen^^

Silent Hill was one of the influences of the level, so that's great to hear! It helps me know I am going in a good route with the aesthetics.
And yeah. Those statues were creepy just to work on. I really like how that area came out.
Maybe I'll try and finish it by Halloween, or at least have a huge chunk of it ready by then.

Thank yuh kindly. It's actually good to hear that there were some rooms you didn't find. Part of the level's purpose is that there will be different paths you can take in the level and it would be possible for players to have different experiences.

Woot-woot!

I wish I could work on this more, and I still am, but progress is somewhat slow. EITHER WAY! I have an update! For now, there is still the walking around, but I have added extra to some rooms, a few hints to story stuffs, and a small bit of the new area/section.

More will be coming, so stay tuned!

Small update. Due to the level being unable to take so much of the logic that I am using (Which it's not even a full thermo; about 3/4ths), I have had to reorganize a few things, split it into different levels, and optimize a lot of the logic. Which this will be a bit of a nuisance since I have to replace pretty much all the logic with a small addition, though good since it will be needed in the long run; especially seeing as how my game has been freezing a lot lately and I would prefer that did not happen. Could just be my PS3 finally dying on me, but hopefully, it is just the level.

Anywho. The logic at least looks nicer and is far more streamlined/optimized. Also, with splitting of the levels (Or MORE splitting than I had planned to do), I can fit a lot more into one section/'level'; so a little bittersweet since I am exchanging loading time for content, but I think it'll be worth it. Plus, I MIGHT be able to add in a save function, which was not planned in the beginning.

So for now, I am working on that, adding in newer rooms and adding more to previous rooms. Soon, it will actually have more puzzles and in a few more updates, I will be able to add in the best parts that will make the err... 'series', a lot more fun!

EDIT: Also! Forgot to mention. I took it out of the Adventure Map thing since I have now included a start screen, and I may/may not just make my own map that would be a bit more interactive/informative. But that's not a top priority thing at the moment.

A possible look for the inventory, though due to logic limitations, It may be more for information on things you find, rather than actual inventory space/management. But I am veeeery 'on the fence' on focusing this more on actual inventory over the focus on information.

When I first checked it out, not sure how much was in the level, but all I could really do was walk around. This was like 3 weeks ago or more. And all I could interact with was randomly collecting an invisible potion on some table / shelf. but couldn't seem to interact with anything else.
From reading this thread, I assumer lots of things have been added since? or have I not been pressing the right stuff in the right place?

Either way, definitely going to be trying this again =)

The current level on my Earth is the only version I have available for the community at the moment. I am working on it right now as I am typing this. The reason why it's been 3 weeks since an update is because I ran into a few issues with creating the level and the game couldn't handle as much as I wanted. So I ended up changing a lot of the logic to make it more streamlined and optimized, which in the long run is much better, but I have had to change all the logic in the level to work with the new build and that takes a while. I am a lot happier with how it is going with the logic though.

I plan on publishing something soon that has some of the new mechanics in the game/level. But for right now, y'all can only walk around the level without any of the final dangers, puzzles, story... Basically, y'all are playing a 'proof of concept' for just the walking around, which may look completely different in the final build. If I had to label it, I'd say y'all are playing the 'pre-alpha'.

Alrighty guys. A few things. I have been a little more busy than usual and my work schedule of juggling night and day shifts has left me tired a lot, but I have finally gotten this first part basically finished but just the 'opening sequence'. Basically, it's the part of the game you play before the real game starts up. It's a 'tutorial', but I am experimenting with some of the tutorial elements so that leads me to this:

i need a few testers to try out the level before I finalize it and finally publish this beginning section. I just need some feedback on the aesthetics, tutorial elements, and some possible 'bugs' that could pop up in the level. I have played it quite a few times, and it SHOULD work fine, but you never know. So yeah, testers. Once I get that done, then I can finally publish this first part.

Just let me know in either here or in a message, and I'll send you a key to the level. Or... however that is done. I am writing this after having just gotten off of a night shift so I can't fully recall how to give the keys; should be through message if I remember correctly. Anywho, let me know on here or in a message on here. I'd take a pm on PS, but I leave my PS3 offline all the time because LBP3 tends to freeze when working on these levels.

So woot-woot! I'll have it out for everyone very soon!

And here is the opening to the levels! Well... I suppose you could call it an epilogue? There's certainly some story elements thrown around the level and hints at other things. This section took way too long to finish up, but I finally have it out and ready for y'all! So have some fun in the level and I will now be working on the rest of the series!

If you have any comments or issues, do let me know. I want the levels to be as good as one can make them in LBP3. Can't say that this is bugless however, seeing as how certain things are completely out of my control due to the game, but that's really only one bug; some weird floating/skipping bug where the character slides along the ground.

Could I get this thread moved to the "Ideas and Projects" section? I'm going to use this thread to update on the progress of the levels and such, that way the actual levels themselves can have their own thread.2016-09-08 14:06:00
