Rotating Coin?

Archive: 5 posts

Any one have any idea how I could make a rotating coin like from Mario? I tried attaching a coin decoration to a see-through rotating sackbot, but the opacity carries through to the coin, so it hides the coin as well. I also tried using a rotating disc, but the coin can't stick upright so that didn't work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.2016-04-18 23:29:00

I wanted a rotating coin for an adventure I made last year. I placed the coin deco on the side of a Rotating Disk that I'd made tiny using the "Jetpack glitch" - the coin doesn't rotate on a perfectly centered axis this way but it looks okay. I also added a Rotator so the coin appears to move somewhat randomly.

If you're not familiar with the "jetpack glitch" it's a way to make in game objects tiny. It's a glitch that I believe is safe to use, but you should back up your profile anyway
1. Place a regular Jetpack (not the Tetherless Jetpack) next to the thing you want to make small
2. Hold down R2 and select both objects (you need to click on each object with your popit curser rather than using the box selection)
3. Once both are selected press up on the R Stick and the objects will become tiny

Hmm. Interesting. Thanks, I'll have to try this! I was actually playing around with placing it on the side of a rotating disc and using movers to counter balance the XY coordinates of the coin, but it was very difficult to figure out the unit rotational speed for the disc. You'd think a speed of 360 would be 1 rotation per second, but it was actually like 335.5 or something like that for 1 rotation per second.

EDIT: Your idea worked perfectly, thank you. I actually did the glitch multiple times, and it now looks just like it's rotating along the z-axis.

Great! That might be a cool prize to give at the end of your level, I'll bet a lot of creators would like a rotating coin

Fantastic idea, Pookachoo, I would joyfully rotate, if I would get the rotating coin prize! 2016-04-20 08:39:00
