Space Station

Archive: 12 posts

Hi friends,

working on my musicsequencer tutorial, I've got some ideas for my 3rd music gallery, which has a story, thats something like a prequel to the story of the musicsequencer tutorial. So I started to create the gallery concurrently to the tutorial and now the music gallery is almost done.

Space Station "Solar One"

"In the future, when people noticed that the universe wasn't built from mathematics and logic, but from music, technological progress did a quantum leap forward. Based on musical waves scientists and engineers developped propulsion systems, which enabled us to travel between stars and to colonize the universe. Composers and musicians became considered members of the society. The center of our known universe was Space Station "Solar One", the headquarters of the intergalactic counsil.
All could have been fine, til we noticed that we're not alone..."

The gravitation field generator (GFG)

"Its been a fantastic day, when Lucas, a young musical engineer arrived at Space Station "Solar One" to visit his uncle Ben. But then the gravitation field generator, which has been uncle Ben's construction, had a critical sync error with the effect of a total system failure. Accident or sabotage? As Lucas was the only one to wear a portable version of a mini gravitation field generator in form of his shoes, its been his turn to go to the engine room and synchronize the GFG manually! And to test the function of the music module units!"

Space Station "Solar One" is a mixture between a classical music gallery with fifteen of my newer compositions and a "pairs" minigame. To synchronize the GFG you have to activate all matching pairs of musical symbols (pics of music instruments) as in the popular memory card game "pairs"! Each synchronized "pair" activates one of the music module units! After the synchronization process you can test the music module units to see, whether they are running without errors! If all music module units are fine then you can activate the GFG again!

In the level you can switch between a normal view and a view through the data display of your helmet, where you can get valuable hints and information! Additionally you can watch the Space Station "Solar One" through 8 different camera angles, four of them with an exterior view and four of them with an interior view.
All songs are available via data transfer for a storage on your moon!

The level is nearly done, the thermometer is extremely high...accident or sabotage??!
More pictures to follow soon!

Many greetings, Jürgen^^

This looks amazing! I usually don't try music based levels, but this one looks like something I'll have to check out!2016-04-11 20:32:00

Hi friends, here's a little update to my project...

...cause the data screen in the helmet is slightly vaulted, I'v now arranged the letters of the texts in a slightly curved way...

...currently I'm also working on the different cameras to watch the space station from different camera angles...
...you will be able to watch happenings like the moon rising behind the blue planet, space ships passing by or a space ship docking to the space station...

Hi friends,

its been some months since I've posted my last pics here...meanwhile I had some problems with an irrational behavior of my cursor in the level. I thought that it must be a bug, but I found no way to fix it. Its been frustrating and I almost wanted to cancel the whole project..but then I decided to do the whole thing once again, with a new design and a new concept and also a new cursor control. ...

Now I found out that its not been a bug, but a faulty game controller! But the new concept and look of the level is a real improvement! So I probably should be thankful that my controller has been faulty... []

I've changed the whole concept...

No data screen helmet anymore, the story now is playing in the spaceship of the young music engineer Lucas, the pairs screen and the music gallery screen are located on the screen window of the space ship now.

I had to change the story a little bit, too.

Now I'm about in the same stage as in April and I'm making progress again!

Here some actual pictures...

Hi friends,

here's a little description of the changed story...

"It came unexpected...some garish lights, some loud explosion and then...darkness! And probably the young musical engineer Lucas, on his way to the space station "Solar One", would have been lost in space forever! Unconsciously floating through the endless darkness with his damaged space ship it would have been his certain death...if there wouldn't have been PAUL, the artificial intelligent P ilot A ssistent U nit series L, who managed to revive Lucas... Since the whole propulsion system had a breakdown, Lucas has to activate the system manually to have a chance to reach "Solar One" and to inform the intergalactic counsil about the incident.

...PAUL...

PAUL will be animated. He can open and close his mouth and I gave him different eye expression to make him more vivid.

Many greetings, Jürgen^^

Hi friends,

after a short break to have some time to do some music requests (Halloween is near! ) I'm now working on my 'Solar One' again! I've started to disassemble the main parts of the level again to get some emittable bits, so that I can decrease my thermo! Ive also completed the scene where the space ship gets hit by the alien weapons. If the emitting and destroying of the main parts will function right, then an end of the level is in sight!
Many greetings, Jürgen^^

Looks like you have been working extremely hard on this. I love music in LittleBigPlanet and music in general, I'm no expert at music but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy something. My friend in LBP called Rim3Xxco is a really talented and underrated sackfolk in my opinion whose music I always look forward to and give a listen towards. Good luck on your project 2016-09-24 00:03:00

And again a little info about my progress...
disambling the level in emittable bits has been working fine, my thermo now is at a reasonable level Using emitters is a fine thing to also destroy complex level parts completely. Working on the first intro scene has let me do more experiments for doing a super nova explosion and I think I've found an impressve solution! I will do a teaser video record soon so that you'll get an idea how the finished level will look like!

Many greetings, Jürgen^^

P.S. I will do a little tutorial video about how to do a deep space surrounding! I will post it in the tutorial section soon!

Many greetings, Jürgen^^
