I noticed in every other LBP story mode there is a;most formula, A creator is a specialty of a new mechanic. All their levels incorporate this mechanic more than others and then the final creator then incorporates everything into one. It is

in Little big planet It only sort of fits or I can't fill in the blanks the obvious examples are
Uncle Jalapeno with Bombs
Maggie the mechanic with cars
The great magician
As the final creator the collector puts it all together to create examples of real levels

In little big planet 2 it is more obvious
Da vinci introduces the grappling hook and is used in every level including the boss
Victoria introduces the Grabinators and they become an integral part of the boss battle
Clive introduces the Sackboy gameplay and they are less important to the boss chase but a still a large part of the atmosphere
Avalon introduces the controlinators and well that is just his entire series
Eve Has hazard object manipulator as an intergral part of her series and plays for atmosphere and effect in the boss battle
Herbert puts it all together

In Little big planet 3 it feels more like every level skips initial step and goes straight to having all these mechanics together are the type of levels you can make. I personally think it is a mixed blessing as usually these are some of the most fun levels but I found the previous way of doing things helped to really explore the possibilities of want item and helped to show how the game differs from the previous installments. Inspired more imagination and diversifies the gameplay but maybe that is no longer necessary as a lot of people who have been playing LBP are fans and already have 500 idea for before the levels even load and just want fun level.

Maybe it is partially due to the LBP 3 power ups having more limited applications than the ones in LBP 2 so 1 level is really all they could think of for their use. Or maybe they just had too much to show. I personally think the new characters were under developed and felt like power ups more than characters (I think the main reason for this is due to the fact that the characters only had a handful of levels and couldn't access their own power ups). Swoop just being the combination of jetpack and superhero cape.

I am not sure which is better or worse and I personally think it would have been cool if the first level was kept the same, the second level was just unlocking all characters then. That opens 3 creators at once as if to say that each character has their own storyline at the same time to take down the titans. Where their levels in these story lines were progressed in a difficulty curve, and once all were completed a final boss containing all them would be release but these characters may not allow for varied enough gameplay.

what do you guys think. Should the next installment (if there is one) of little big planet should isolate and explore new features or have them all work implemented to make the best levels from the start?

(On a side note I think guess who is coming to dinner is one of the best mini games LBP has ever had. I absolutely think it is almost perfect even if it didn't really have any new features in)
