The Reitselai Dragons Play - Meta Crystal (Super Smash Bros 64)
Archive: 11 posts
Hello All, We're moving right along to my next project! The reitselai dragons' next song will be Meta Crystal from Super Smash Bros 64! (requested by AwesomeMawile) I've recently made an instrument update video covering the "mime" synth dragon instrument. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xy2EgjP5rvc I've also made an lbp video showcasing his instrument if you'd like to see it: http://lbp.me/v/qyd1x3k/topreviews?p=1&l=12 I figured I would also go into the logic for this instrument a bit more in detail here. You can see the logic in action in the update video Starting at the top of the microchip... There are the standard nod and rawr tag sensors that control when the dragon moves it's head and opens it's mouth to roar. This dragon doesn't roar, but does nod :3 The next 8 tags are labeled for each note that the dragon can play. They are labeled "mime synth - 1", "mime synth - 2" etc, and each is labeled 1-8. The first row of OR gates to the right of the tags control where the dragon's hands move. The first two notes are played all the way to the left so if either of these notes activate, they will activate a tag which is labeled "hand follow - L" since it's specific for the left hand. If that tag is active, it will make the hand move there. The second row of OR gates controls which fingers move. Both the first and third notes are played by the left finger on the left hand so those tag sensors are connected to that first OR gate The sequencer underneath the eight blue tags controls the pistons that make the crystals behind the dragon "levitate" The microchip underneath the previously mentioned sequencer controls how the gems appear in front of the instrument at the bottom (forgot to open it though DX). There is an instrument specific tag (labeled mime synth - specific gem) sensor for a gem. That tag sensor turns on a gem specific tag (labeled specific gem) and an emitter that emits that gem. When another tag is activated, the logic for all other gems is canceled and the previous gem disappears using a destroyer and reversed tag sensor for the gem specific tag (labeled specific gem) Are you confused? XD Sorry I'm not the best at explaining, but I wanted to give it a shot. ^_^; Please feel free to share any questions | 2016-04-03 18:37:00 Author: Retsamehtmai Posts: 105 |
Yeah, a new project of my favorite dragon group, and a little bit backstage atmosphere! Thanks a lot, I'm already waiting impatiently! Many greetings, Jürgen^^ | 2016-04-04 09:59:00 Author: CuriousSack Posts: 3981 |
Hello all! Next up is the percussion dragon instrument! Not much has changed for these guys other than their color actually ^_^; Check out the update where I cover things in a bit more detail here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-G4lo66y060 I’ve also made a level in lbp showcasing this instrument: http://lbp.me/v/qy4es8k/topreviews?p=1&l=12 Here’s a little blerb about the logic that controls these guys. Starting at the top of the microchip: The first set of green tags serve as the standard “rawr” and “nod” tags (that’s how they are labeled lol) that control when the dragons open their mouths to roar and move their heads to the music. All dragon instruments share these tags in common If a dragon uses both feet or hands to play an instrument, I usually use a set of blue and orange tags to tell them whether to tell them when to move the left(front) or right(back) foot or hand. The first set of blue and orange tags control the little dragon’s front paws and serve as the “scratch” drum instrument. These tags are labeled “percussion – paw drum front” and “percussion – paw drum back” respectively The second set of blue and orange tags control the big dragon’s feet and serve as the base drum instrument. These tags are labeled “percussion – base drum front” and “percussion – base drum back” respectively The third set of blue and orange tags control the big dragon’s front paws and serve as the “click” drum instrument. This is a new drum sound made for this song! These tags are labeled “percussion – snare drum front” and “percussion – snare drum back” respectively. That “snare” label is left over from previous songs and I haven’t really wanted to change it yet X) The second to last tag controls the big dragon’s tail and serves as the “ting” drum instrument. X) Yes I know that name is weird :3 Anyway, this tag is labeled “percussion – tail drum” Does that kind of make sense? I hope so ^_^; If not, feel free to share any questions you have | 2016-04-17 17:27:00 Author: Retsamehtmai Posts: 105 |
Hello all! Next up is the sitoko dragon instrument! This one was mostly a pallet swap :3 Check out the update here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b6A82k-8iWQ I’ve also made a level in lbp showcasing this instrument: http://lbp.me/v/qy4es8k/topreviews?p=1&l=12 -S- Logic overview (starting at the top of the microchip) -S- The first set of green tags serve as the standard “rawr” and “nod” tags (that’s how they are labeled lol) that control when the dragons open their mouths to roar and move their heads to the music. All dragon instruments share these tags in common The next set of eight tags control the fingering for the eight notes that the dragon can play on her instrument (labeled ‘sitoko – 1’, ‘sitoko – 2’, etc). Check out the update video if you want to see the different finger positions. The set of three tags control the dragon’s strumming fingers. That first blue tag controls when the dragon switches to a higher octave while playing and is labeled ‘sitoko – high’. That second blue tag control when the dragon strums with her top (or middle if you’re counting her thumb) finger and is labeled ‘sitoko – top finger’. That third orange tag controls her bottom finger and is labeled ‘sitoko – bottom finger’. Just like I use different colored tags to control either hand or foot when a dragon is using both to play, I did for her two fingers to make it easier to program :3. And that’s pretty much it! Hello all! Next up are the synth wave and guitar instruments! Besides the pallet swap for both, synth wave has a new song gem, the “robot” gem! Check out the update here for more details: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h93t5GsC8pk I’ve also made a level in lbp showcasing this instrument: http://lbp.me/v/qy4es8k/topreviews?p=1&l=12 -S- Logic overview (starting at the top of the microchip) -S- The logic for these guys follows pretty much the same pattern as the other dragon instruments | 2016-05-22 19:58:00 Author: Retsamehtmai Posts: 105 |
Hello all! Next up are the Clarinet and Bassuba instruments! Check out the update here for more details: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZwuWOPtPibA I’ve also made a level in lbp showcasing this instrument (changes depending on what dragon(s) I'm working on): http://lbp.me/v/qy4es8k/topreviews?p=1&l=12 -S- Logic overview (starting at the top of the microchip) -S- The logic for these guys follows pretty much the same pattern as the other dragon instruments, but these guys don’t have a rawr tag! Since they have to blow on their instruments to play, they have a tag sensor that closes their mouth instead of opening it. ^_^ | 2016-06-05 17:56:00 Author: Retsamehtmai Posts: 105 |

Hello all! This project is finally done! 8D You can watch the dragons play this awesome song here on youtube if you’re interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QK9XRweraVo This showcase level is now an instrument only version of this song since the dragons are too complicated to put in a level together: http://lbp.me/v/qy4es8k/topreviews?p=1&l=12 If you would still like to see each dragon in detail, I have a playlist with videos covering them here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLuHrvJ1UGyK3Tj0edjx03RMKJcJgMc4Iu You can also find the music I’ve made for this project on my soundcloud here: Meta Crystal: https://soundcloud.com/retsamehtmai/meta-crystal-lbp-cover Meta Crystal – Reitselai Intro: https://soundcloud.com/retsamehtmai/meta-crystal-reitselai-intro | 2016-06-12 20:49:00 Author: Retsamehtmai Posts: 105 |
