Most efficient way of limiting playable layers?

I would like to create a level using only 3 playable layers (LBP1/2 standard).
What is the best way to block sackboy from moving behind/in front of those 3 layers?
The only method I have found is to create an humongous invisible wall behind the playable area. I would have thought "# of playable layers" would be a global option, but I guess not?

Have an invisible material just a bit bigger than sackboy between layers 3 & 4 that follows the player but doesn't change layer (hey dat rhymes)
so if the player tries to go beyond layer 3 the wall will block them.

Also make sure that you put a physics tweaker so that it only collides with the player, or anything that the player is attached to (EG a car), so that it can go through scenery and not grip things like the background as well.

You want to go to your gameplay controls and set your 'manual jump down' to No. You'll find now that the player cannot jump forward off a layer.

If you need to player to be able to do this simply place a broadcast microchip on the material you want them to be able to jump down from and tweak it to 'Broadcast to: All in Contact' and set it to 'include touching'

Then get a gameplay tweaker and put it on the broadcast microchip's circuit board.

Then just tweak the gameplay tweaker and change the 'Manual jump down' to Yes. Make sure to set the 'Affects' to Owning Character so that it works in conjunction with the broadcast chip too : )

Then you can just copy that microchip onto any surface you want to hop down from if there are any.
