hologram through glasslayers
Archive: 8 posts
Hey again. I have a problem when I have a three layer thick hologram and cover each layer with a thin glasslayer. For example: if you picture an aquarium where the short end is hologram and the long end is regular glass, then you add 2 thin layers of glass behind the first one. I'm not sure if I'm clear enough here, but it's the best I can come up with The problem is that the three layer thick hologram is visible through the first layer of glass but through the other two it ain't. Have anyone else encountered this problem with hologram or is it perhaps a glitch of sorts? And if you have do you know any way to work around it? Cheers! | 2016-01-30 13:26:00 Author: JL - wopdido Posts: 56 |
Hi there! I'm trying to set up something similar to what it seems like you are describing. I place a 3 layer thick piece of hologram (full brightness) and place a thin layer of glass all the way forward, then another thin glass piece one back a layer, and another back a layer right? I tried this with the basic glass material, and the hologram does not show through the first layer. However, I changed the glass to smooth glass material and the hologram showed through it. It didn't seem like the hologram's brightness had an effect on whether it showed through or not. I guess my suggestion is...use the basic glass material? XD Let me know if this is any help ^_^ | 2016-01-31 15:27:00 Author: Retsamehtmai Posts: 105 |

XD Let me know if this is any help ^_^ Very wierd problem. Smooth glass allowed the hologram to show, If it was placed without nothing in front of it. But only one layer :/ So my sullotion was using hologram turned down to 0 on animation and use barriers so my dude couldnt move forward a layer through it. And i used Iron fence as the last thin layer cause that one worked like a charm. Only problem is it gets so messy if I would have used it for all thin layers. - - - - - - - - - - ...I Wonder if media mollecule would be up to the task and change this problem in an update | 2016-02-02 08:54:00 Author: JL - wopdido Posts: 56 |
Hmm...may I ask why you need to hologram behind the glass in the first place? Could you just have glass by itself in this space instead? ...I also think I remember hearing that you could use an invisible material tweaked to have the plasma hazard to keep sackboy from moving between layers...I haven't tested this in while but...maybe that will make things a little less messy? ^_^; | 2016-02-02 23:42:00 Author: Retsamehtmai Posts: 105 |
I'm making a underwater module thing Where the player is moved through the layers with different mechanisms. And i have sharks spawning behind the hologram material in the first and last layer. I need something to keep the player in the right layer and still be visible. Anyhow it's fine now. I worked around it and it looks good. The thing is it would have been easier and felt more logic with smooth glass all the way - - - - - - - - - - The hologram didnt show through the invisible material and i wanted something that resembled glass to give it a sharktank kind of feel | 2016-02-04 13:38:00 Author: JL - wopdido Posts: 56 |
I see, well I'm glad you were able to figure out a way to make it work! I'd also like to play this level when it's finished? Sounds like it could be fun XD | 2016-02-04 14:25:00 Author: Retsamehtmai Posts: 105 |
