LBP Shopping Centre (free items)

Archive: 29 posts

Hi, another level for you all here and this one is all about giving high quality items to the community for free!

Title: LBP Shopping Centre
Author: MikLSP

This is a shopping centre where you'll find electrical goods, furniture, stickers, costumes and more! I'll hopefully be adding some cars to it soon as well. All you need to get the items is the Sackboy Coin from the Wilderness theme.

Item requests are welcome, just leave a comment on the level if there's something you want.

As much as I'm 100% against free prize levels, there seems to be some high quality content here. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you made all of these yourself? (I hope so or else.....)

Good job on the Civic hatchback!

If you really want to go all out... you could up the immersion factors by adding some escalators to change floors, thus making it look even more like a shopping mall. I have a thermo friendly escalator you could use... (see sig).

don't be too hard on the poor guy, atleast theres the option of not getting stuff you want, I played a few non-free prize levels recently that just shout 'our creators have no common courtesey!'

EDIT: And I'm always on the lookout for a few High-Quality Stickers!

I was saying it in anticipation, and not really thinking about what I was saying at the same time. Guess I'm too used to other forums.......2009-03-07 01:42:00

@ Hamsalad

I'm afraid the car isn't in there as an item just yet but I do plan to add a cars section when I make some more

@ thegide

I certainly did make them all myself apart from the costumes which are credited to "anabolix".
The car is a Golf GTi by the way
Nice idea on the escalator, I'm really fighting with the thermometer at the moment but I'll certainly take a look at yours, cheers.
PS- I'm not sure where it is though it's not in your sig.

@ DRT99

If you have any specific stickers you're after please let me know and I'll see what I can do

@ all

don't worry, I didn't take offense and I share the opinion of being against lame "300 free items" levels which are just a line of pathetic and/or stolen items. I specifically designed this to offer quality items and to give people the option of what they want.

Cheers,

Mik

Even though we all normally hate prizes because of our limited profile space, that is pretty awesome... a great spin on the old lock box technique, and alot of great stuff that shows off how cool prizes CAN be, and how nice some of the stuff people make is.

I used to try and "collect" all the prizes I thought were REALLY cool, but gave up on it as publishing space and moon space became scarce... I hope quality spots like this serve as some kind of inspiration to increase our profile space. I want to be able pop up in a couple years and show off "rare" items from creators and levels that are long gone. like it's an MMO and these are item drops lol

I wish they'd de-restrict the save profile size too, I'm always having to clear out community items and photos and even had to delete some of my level backups
That's certainly part of the reason why I wanted to give the option of taking these items or not as I hate having to delete endless items that are of no use to me.

lol, I like that idea of future rare collectable items, that'd be cool

Wow.
wow.
me, bro and sis just went shopping.
it was AMAZING!
I'd really LOVE when you expand it, maybe 2 seperate levels as shops?
and buy the key for shop 2?

anyway, hearted and 5 stars!

Thanks for the great comments oldage
I will be rotating items in future so the content stays fresh and if it becomes popular I will certainly look at multiple shops to offer more items seeing as the thermometer is somewhat limiting.

Thanks for the heart & stars

Non-DLC dependant versions added, you can now "buy" the original item or an alternate version which only uses standard items & materials.

Park swing and slide and a TV stand also added

Maybe you can add a detailed "pillar"?
we could use it to build building like the roman Pantheon

The main problem there is that we can't make cylindrical shapes

The lack of curves is also what's making it hard to produce a decent PS3

Why are cylindrical shapes needed?
there are a lot of good pillars out there, looking good n all with using just square :kz:
I think I still have one, i'll send you.

It's not just your regular FREE ITEMS level. There's more to this, right?2009-03-12 13:34:00

It's not a challenging platform type level if that's what you mean but it's also not the regular "free items" level either. As I see it they are usually simply a line of rubbish items and bubbles which you have to collect just to walk past, my level has high quality items (if I do say so myself, lol) arranged in a shop allowing you to buy only the ones you choose.

I've played, I've created and now I'm sharing

Are there any escalators anywhere? I would like some in my Tube level but am too scared to try and build some...

I bet someone has made some which aren't too thermo-hungry?
