Yay button

Archive: 25 posts

So are they really not going to bring back the whole yay button and heart system despite the gigantic backlash (as in I haven't heard anyone liking it. At least with the removal of the boo button, there were a good 30+% people who defended the decision) they received with the hiding of the yay button? Sumo, some times I think you are trying to anger the community. I don't want to follow everything I like, but I would still like to show that I like a level without leaving a review. Please use common sense when deciding to remove features. Or rather, if it doesn't make any sense to remove it, don't remove it.2016-01-15 18:27:00

Even better, bring back the star system 2016-01-16 00:09:00

I'd be cool with that as even though people who rushed through levels just rated it 3 stars, based of the number of plays you could normally estimate the actual quality. I can't tell anything with this current system.2016-01-16 01:17:00

Yup there needs to be a easily accessible 'yay'. The change has really unbalanced the rating system.2016-01-17 21:59:00

So the yay is gone in lbp3? D: ...I get if the reason behind this is to "encourage" people to SAY more about WHY they like a level, but that kind of thing was more an issue with the boo system I think :/ I also think people are less likely to yay a level for "no reason" compared to booing? very strange decision from sumo...2016-01-21 13:24:00

It's not gone, it's just moved. You have to hit "leave review" and then something else, and then you see the Yay that you can click on. It's like 3 extra steps just to like the level. I mean, it only takes 2 seconds but still.2016-01-21 15:03:00

Ohhh I see, that's not as bad...still a strange change :/

I made a sort of rant of this on another fan-site and I also agree that the yay should be placed back to it's original position. If you're reading this employee of SD, I am just being honest through my threads. As a true LBP lover I do not mean to bring hate, only friendly suggestions. The posts might be a bit spicy sometimes but someone needs to get their hands dirty. More people should have the courage to speak out instead of remaining silent and accept unnecessary changes...2016-01-21 17:12:00

Even bigger of a problem than hiding the yay button in my opinion is only showing how many hearts a level has as a means to judge the quality/effort put into a level. I love looking at the ratio as a guide to see how newer levels are as even though they have low plays, they have a greater than half yay ratio which is clear that I might like the level. Now I'm just blindly playing levels and honestly I don't have the time nor do I want to play levels that weren't being created for more than a day.2016-01-22 01:05:00

This is a good point! Just hearts or just yays alone don't tell you much about a level since people have different standards for each...there's also the fact that some people don't heart as a judge of quality. Yeah this can be a thing with yays too, but having both kind of offsets that I think?

The star system has shown, how good a level was. The yay function in LBP2 and LBP Vita was also a good thing to say 'Hey, I like your level' and 'Hey, you made a very nice level'.2016-01-28 10:44:00

I think moving the Yay rating was a bad idea but I can see why they did it. It was to give more attention to the Heart button, because two of the Community sections basically run on Hearts which are Recommended for You and Most Hearted. If people were Yaying more than Hearting then these systems wouldn't work the way they should.

However it's a bit of an issue because some people only like using Hearts for levels they find really good or awesome and Yay for levels that are good or had effort put into them.

It's bigger of an issue because there's the bug where "Leave a Review" doesn't even appear, so you can't even yay the level.

I have been recently been playing through some community levels, I hearted the ones I wanted to replay, however I did not "yay" any (even though they deserved it) simply because of the poor placement. 2016-02-13 20:24:00

The thing about that is, I think that hurts the creator more than it sends a message to anyone. If anything, not hearting a level would send that message better (though still hurting both you and the creator more).

An indication of how many many reviews there are; and mayhaps the amount of people who got to the end of the level, would be ideal.
Someone try and tell me why that's a bad idea

I'm actually confused on what you mean by this. You can do both of these things with the current system. You just can't easily access the yay button (though by this point they have at least put the amount of yays back on level info).

You can see how many people have completed a level in Pod by pressing Square on a level to see the details, then viewing "Statistics" on the side. It shows lots of details including how many people have completed a level.

Yeah, it's super helpful for figuring out how many people start but don't finish your level in certain cases like platformers. Sometimes it can give you a hint that your level is too hard. The statistics are not available in the level though and aren't the most intuitive to get to, but they are there!2016-04-27 22:34:00
