Monsters Inc. Costumes

Archive: 10 posts

Just released today. 9 costumes in the pack, but the caveat is that only 4 of them are unique characters from the film. The other 5 are variations of the hazmat suit for each character. No Randal or Roz or Mr. Waternoose or Sylvia or whoever else. They included the abominable snowman, even though Toggle already has yeti and bigfoot costumes, but hey, this one's wooly.

The faces seem pretty lazy this time around (like, do you recall how the Abominable Snowman had a barren patch of skin on his face? No? That's because he didn't (http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/disney/images/5/59/Monsters-Inc-Abominable-Snowman.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20151213154512).) But the only thing that really stings is what they did with Mike Wazowzki

Why?

I mean, sure it's clever visually, but when players ask for costumes of this or that character or from this or that franchise, I'm pretty sure most of them aren't longing for cheap-looking party city mesh face-covering costumes.

The Sackperson looks, in essence, like Boo from the movie. Little Toggle looks like Little Toggle wearing a cheap Mike Wazowski costume.

And Sully's big friendly eyes are now beady dots...they really missed the mark with these. The hazmat suits look great for a team level though.2016-01-13 05:37:00

Since this is posted into news and media, an official section of the site, it might be a good idea to keep personal opinion out of it. Save it for another thread. Just my opinion. I'll probably pass on these costumes. I'd rather have deco and/or stickers (not that I'm ever going to create anything with them though)2016-01-13 17:27:00

Good point. In the future, I'll be sure to leave my opinions in the comments that follow the OP, rather than the OP itself. Just kind of bummed out about this one. The Boo costume (the one they teased on facebook) looks good, so I guess I was expecting more from the rest.

Meh, I agree that these costumes "excluding the little girl & the hazmat costumes" are pretty awful. It's like they sometimes forget that people are suppose to buy these things... If I'm gonna put extra money into this game, then the extra content should have real nice quality to it.... They really should put more thought/effort into DLC costumes. :T2016-01-14 08:54:00

I would not worry about providing an opinion on the content offered for sale. When all things are considered it will only assist the developers in designing the next batch of goodies.2016-01-14 10:49:00

Personally, I really like how they've recently been making costumes less connected in terms of pieces which allows for some clever uses for mixing and matching. However, the only thing I see of some use in this pack are:

The Wool Costume - While it is true it doesn't look like the yeti from Monsters Inc, this piece is very easily incorporated into other designs.
The Snow Cone Hand Object - Because why not?
Boo's Arms/feet (if they are separate) - This costume really only seems useful if the hands and feet are separate (and the hair, I guess). If someone can confirm this, that would be great. Otherwise, the other pieces are too specific to Monsters Inc which isn't a bad thing, but not really what I look for in costume packs
Hazmat suits - Honestly, they look different enough to make me forget that they are from Monsters Inc out of context, but similar enough to make me recognize them in context. Really great. Also you can use the hand thing as a vacuum.
Sully's teeth and Eyes (are the eyes new? I can't tell) - Sure they don't really remind me of Sully, but they look hella useful.

Overall, I think this is a passable one, but there are a few unique costume pieces that are worth the time. Some can be omitted in design in all honesty, but they add a nice touch and makes this pack not truly worthless. The adventure time costume pack was much better than this in terms of use.

I know the game's style is supposed to be fake and plastic-y, but some of these look bad....

Hazmat suits look pretty decent, though.

I like the fact they're making Pixar costume packs! But, gosh... Mike looks like he's wearing a fencing mask :kz:2016-01-17 22:35:00
