Overheating/Duplication Problem!

Archive: 6 posts

Hello!
I am currently making the next installment in my LBP3 series, OddBall Adventures, and I keep experiencing a big issue.
Overheating, and duplication.
Does anyone have any tips on how to prevent overheating? These are pictures of my level so far, not much on it, 50047
50048
I also keep running into a problem where everything in the level with logic attached to it gets duplicated.
I have run into this problem MANY many times and still don't know what causes it or how to prevent it.
If anyone has answers, please help! Thanks! :oddSock:
EDIT: I have found a way to fix this problem, though will keep this thread up for others to know. =)

I've never that that issue with duplication, but I've heard other creators mention it. Are you working with a dynamic thermometer?2015-12-09 18:04:00

I have a tip that I have been using for some time but I think nobody knows it but me. First if your level has a section where the player cannot get to again, you could destroy it with some logic to free up some space. Same thing can be applied to movies. For example, one scene takes place in a hospital, then onto a house. Once a movie camera sets its sights on the house, you can destroy the hospital off screen and the player will never see it happen. If this technique is use properly, it is possible to create enormous levels and hours of cinematics with the help of a Emitter.2015-12-09 20:20:00

Are you able to share a video? I dont understand the duplication. Are both objects present and right next to each other or is a new object created without knowledge? Its possible something is up with the emitter, but more likely an error that is caused when the thermo is high. LBP can act weird when the thermometer is constantly high. I also experienced wierd errors in two player.

We need more information, like how high the thermo is? I would also suggest deleting everything in your level until you find what is taking up so much space(DO NOT SAVE of course when you do this). You can also send me an invite if it helps, but I wont really be on until the weekend.

The same object is placed on top of eachother twice.
Emitter or not.

I have heard about this technique from mgs61794 (The Pancake Ninja guy)
I am going to start this method, however I am only within the first 20 seconds of the video.

The good 'ol Emit/Destroy method
We've got a good tutorial (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=69827-Working-With-The-Emit-Destroy-Technique) on that here from LBP2, basically the same for LBP3 though.
