Best Bar Songs
Archive: 19 posts
Ok so I have a gig every thursday night - aka, tonight... and it's 4 hours, split up into 4 sets. Our first set is kinda weak, and our last 2 are full of typical bar songs everyone loves. So I was wondering for the general population randomly at a bar.... what are the best songs to cover? Already play: Santeria and Lovin' - Sublime End of the World - REM Living on a prayer - Jovi Sweet Caroline Sweater Song (undone) and pork and beans - weezer Friends in low places Basket case - greenday inside out - eve 6 that journey song everyone sings (drawing a blank on title) I'm yours, jason mraz No handlebars - flo bots and like 40 more I can't think of Stuff I want to add - closing time - semi sonic semi charmed kind of life Breakfast at tiffany's what would you shout out when drunk at a bar with an acoustic act on stage (two guys playing guitar)? | 2009-03-05 20:56:00 Author: LuckyShot Posts: 713 |
well gorillias - feel good inc is pretty good. so...the other guy doesn't have an acoustic bass...two acoustic guitars? he could always do the bass line on guitar I guess. Or maybe when I come around by green day. I'll think of some more...kind of tricky since you are limiting yourself to acoustics | 2009-03-05 21:00:00 Author: Hamsalad Posts: 2551 |
Yeah when we get into the third set, it seems everyone sings along with every song. So basically I'm looking for songs people will just start singing with us, becuase that's the best part of playing the bar scene with covers. (I used to swear I would never do covers - but it pays consistently, sigh) | 2009-03-05 21:14:00 Author: LuckyShot Posts: 713 |
maybe even sublime bad fish....My guitar instructor and his brother and another guy play covers out and they make about 1k a night i think he said. they also make up some originanals. but bad fish should get good results... or come as you are maybe? or maybe even a chilli peppers like scar tissue. also you might want to try asking this in the guitarist thread i made | 2009-03-05 21:37:00 Author: Hamsalad Posts: 2551 |

I know you said you play basket case....I just tried learning that and I"m having a hard time getting the palm mute / non palm mute pattern down....it's pretty tough to do it that fast...I"ve only been playing guitar for about a year and 3 months...I play all the time but i 'havnt played punk b4 really...some of their other songs but nothing like that. when i come around is a similar style but A LOT easier...basket case is just so fast | 2009-03-13 01:52:00 Author: Hamsalad Posts: 2551 |
