Reinstalling LBP3?

Archive: 7 posts

Hello everyone! I am experiencing a lot of errors with LBP3 which has for some odd reason made the game unplayable. I was wondering if I can uninstall the game from my PS3 and reinstall it to get it working. However, if I do uninstall it will my profile and all my hard work get deleted? I have lots of DLC I have purchased, lots of levels on my moon I am working on, I aced and completed all of Story mode and all the DLC, have tons of cool costumes and all that sort of stuff! I tried to do some research to find any guides of how to reinstall it WITHOUT getting rid of my profile with all my progress but found nothing of great detail. Is this possible? I really don't want it gone =(. And if it does work, I'd only have to patch/update it all again right? I could use some great help!

THANK YOU ALL!

DLC is not a problem, you can always re-download it if needed
If you back up your profile to a USB stick (or to your PS+ online storage if you have that), you should be able to to bring it back in once you've re-installed the game. Everything in your popit is part of your profile, so you shouldn't lose anything in the process. Levels on your moon are also part of your profile, but you can also back them up just to be safe.
As for your progress in the main Adventure and any playable DLC levels you have, I'm not entirely sure how that works on PS3. On PS4, your "progress" is saved separately from your profile, and it can also be backed up. If you do lose your progress it will be as though you never played the adventure levels, but so long as your profile is still there you'll keep all the collectibles in your popit - that happened to me earlier this year.

Hi Republic,

I'm not an expert to answer your question, but before you uninstall and reinstall the game I would save the profile data extern on an USB-stick or if you have PS+ to the cloud. So that you will be able to restore your profile if necessary. The profile data are parted into four resp. five parts, two are called user profile, one is called level progress and the fourth is called popit academy progress (I hope that my translations are right!) If you have the dlc pack "Journey home", then there is a fifth part called Journey home progress! With these data you can restore your current profile! I think that restoring the profile would also restore the dlc data, if not so then, community, correct me, please!
But I don't know, what would happen, if you would have reinstalled the game and then restored the profile, maybe without the level progress data! ...Ok! Now its time for our experts!

Many greetings, Jürgen??

I GOT SOME GREAT NEWS! When I was about to start reintalling it I looked at the bottom of the disk. Turns out my disk was dirty as all get out! I took it to a near by game store, got it cleaned, put it back into my PS3 and it works as good as new! I feel so stupid for not noticing that LOL Thanks for your help anyway though =), if something serious happens to where it's not my dirty disk I'll know what to do =)
Here's to creating again!

CHEERS!,
Republic =D
I feel so happy!

Glad you found a simple solution!

just FYI, you definitely can always re-download your DLC from the PS store

Yes. And there are time saver levels in the community for the level packs, like the Muppets. So you don't have to replay.

I'm pretty sure I had to reinstall the game, early on, and I don't remember it affecting my profile. I could be wrong.

A dirty disc was probably a much easier fix.

I backed up my profile and then reinstalled my game on several occasions.

You will need to re-download some updates before you can play - not ALL of the updates, but I seem to remember that you needed a few - like v1.4 then it'd skip v1.9 etc.

Once this is done everything you have collected will be in your popit as you left it as will be all you moon levels, including DLC and community objects.

If you don't save a profile, then when you load you have to go into the settings and have the game activate LBP1 and LBP2 stuff, then go and re-download all your DLC costumes, packs and level kits, either from the PS store on in game.

I found that the store was more reliable, because you can search for all your purchase history including things that go away and come back, like the sack fragrances and the seasonal packs.

You will need to go and re-play the DLC levels (and disc levels) to collect items again, even if you load a back up level full of the content... except for the Vita Cross Play pack. This was given out as the 'Sci-Fi pack' as an automatic unlock.
