Little Big Planet Collaboration Project
<hr/>
Not sure if this is a LBP3 suggestions (for a formal introduction of this level, like google drive, to the game), or to LBP3 tutorials, since this is a tutorial, but I decided to put it here on the grounds of it being a concept.
<br/>

"Hey, get online, I wanna work on the level"
<hr/>
Have you ever been working with many people collaboratively on a project when the host of the project suddenly leaves for the longest time, leaving said project to become doomed? I'm sure this is a common enough story, especially now that all of you folk are becoming increasingly busy, making collaboration even more difficult and level completion accordingly so. How do we get over this?
<br/>

Creating a collaborative upload network
<hr/>
If any of you have ever used GitHub, it's basically that, except without file merging available as a resource. For those of you unfamiliar, it is basically a network in which any user is able to upload their changes to a system without needing a host file to resume work on said project. This is what this collaborative system is hoping to achieve; giving all of you busy people your own flexible schedules for creativity.
<br/>

So, what's the catch?
<hr/>
LBP doesn't exactly have a "Merge Level" option so only one player has the option to have and host the level at a time so use is only restricted to when the host is aware of their upcoming absences, so that work can be continued without them. If a team gets coordinated fluidly with this system, then it is possible to have a player re-upload the level for group work every time that player goes offline, effectively making the level workable at any time (keep in mind the effectiveness of this work is purely based off of workflow coordination) but —
<br/>

How does this work?
<hr/>
It's fairly simple, the barebones core working off of the "level copyable" option being restricted by locking the level, so a code can be inputted to give the key, giving level copy access to those with the code. This level transfer core is what makes this possible as this was not recently an option. Level transfer is now in reach. Using a template <a href="https://lbp.me/v/qx0yryq/activity" target="_blank">(such as this one of mine here)</a> you can work with your teammates to come up with a code and pass the level on (either) going offline or going away for a while (depending on coordination, the latter might be appropriate).
<br/>

Anything to be cautionary of?
<hr/>
YES, *ahem*, yes. Be very wary of duplicates floating around, maybe in the comments section of the level link — provide the name of the member with the latest version of the level, for if duplicates manage to float around and the time comes to reconvene the changes, then (as forementioned) LBP won't be able to recombine automatically and then you are left with two options: discard one of the level versions, or manually combine the added elements (ugh). If you are planning on applying something modular later manually (such as a new broadcast microchip, something not anchored to the level) then having two copies of the level and specifying that you are creating a purposeful duplicate for the sake of manual recombination later, then that's ok. In short, be wary of workflow kinks, and stray duplicates because recombining is a pain in the neck.

If you have any questions or idea additions (did I leave a gap?), post them below, I'll be glad to answer, or edit in suggestions.

The real problem is finding people that will actually work on the project. I keep getting people that say they wanna help but then play other games all the time and then tell me they are working on their own level.

I got real life stuff I gotta do and I don't have enough time on my own to finish the project in any kinda time frame. Working together really isn't that hard but I find a lot of people that don't even know how to make a level. This is where I need a cloning machine and just make three of me and get stuff done all the time.

Hey could you make me music.. I don't know how to make music, derp.
Hey could you finish or make this part of logic that I still need while I work on something else... I don't know logic, derp.
Hey could you design x y or z. I'm not good at art, derp.
Hey could you help me with my game/level. Sure. (Never logs in again)

People tend to forget or don't know yet. Its work to make something good or least have the know how. You work on anything amazing and the work load is high. I see so many short levels that get MM picks and can be made in like a day.

Yeah, and that circles back to the issue of workflow. If you COULD get a fluid workflow down but just didn't have the physical time to work on levels together, then this would be perfect for you. But otherwise, if cohesion isn't possible like you said, then this wouldn't work for you. I do agree that this isn't mean for a large group of people, but it's still nice to have it available 2015-11-02 09:07:00
