PS3 Thermometer vs PS4 Thermometer

Archive: 3 posts

I just recently decided to upgrade from the PS3 version of this game to the PS4 version. But in doing so I noticed that the PS4 thermometer seems way smaller. Levels that are over one notch from the top on the PS3 version are completely overheated on the PS4. This means that the emitters work when playing on PS3 but nothing will emit on PS4.
Is this meant to be the case? In playing the PS3 version I kept coming across levels that didn't seem at all optimised for that system but now it seems like the PS3 version can actually have more things in memory than the PS4 version. I've noticed backgrounds seem much harsher on the PS4 than the PS3.

So does anyone know what else specifically changes in thermo-intensity between the different versions?
I know the PS4 version was meant more for the dynamic thermo and the PS3 for the traditional thermo, but I don't really like the dynamic one very much and was hoping to avoid using it.
Sorry if this has already been discussed somewhere.

I have both, mostly I only use PS4 but when I have moved levels between consoles the thermo has always appeared the same.

You mention the backgrounds looking harsher. It could be that you need to update the firmware on your television.
I have a Sony Bravia TV that's several years old, and when I first got my PS4 and started playing LBP3 (this was during beta) it didn't look so great. Everything was too sharp, edges looked jagged. Turned out I was just overdue for a firmware update, something I'd never done.
If you do search for your model TV and "firmware" you should find any available updates. For my TV I just had to download a small file from the Sony support site, put it on a USB stick, plug that into the TV and it did the rest by itself.

I meant "harsher" in the context of the topic. I don't get very concerned about graphic quality.
The real issue with the PS4 version seems to be that everyone has their own set of glitches. At least with the PS3 version if one person experiences an issue, almost everyone else will too.
Anyway, sorry for making such a pointless topic since I guess the only solution here is to test the level on both versions beforehand.

EDIT: I realised that my problem was actually that the thermometer takes into account what costumes the player character is wearing. So it wasn't about PS3 vs PS4 but about a complicated player outfit vs a simple one. I still don't know why some backgrounds won't load properly on PS4 but I guess that's something else entirely...
