This is hands down the best level I've played all week. The gameplay is a throwback to classic japanese fantasy and the art direction is phenomenal. The level is finely polished and the visual impact is stunning, despite an overall minimalist approach to level design. The game plays flawlessly, and offers several unique platforming ideas that fit with the theme. One deserving special mention is the sequence where you have to bounce from wall to wall between buildings to reach the rooftops ingeniously implemented by vertically oscillating styro platforms that with a touch of your imagination, blend in with the walls. From here, you run across the rooftops in style, with ceramic roof tiles slipping out from under you the entire way. Another notable mention should be the stone-hopping section in the water garden. Incredible visual touches to the flora and having the stones wiggle in the water adds just that much more immersion factor. The level turns theme when you return to find the village ransacked and in ruin from flames. This part reminded me of the infamous silent hill level, except the visual execution is far superior. This is a must play!

You were right, Thegide... this really was right up my alley. My favorite bit was the roofing shingles that fall off at the halfway mark. A really balanced and well put together level. Tons of fun platforming, and all the feudalism I can ask for. I kind of wish things were just a smidgen more detailed, and that there was some emphasis on the lighting and stuff... but this is everything I would love to do if I ever get around to do anything with my samurai stuff.
